Maraad

Vindicator

This is still a work in progress, any constructive criticism will be appreciated!
Please take the time to share your thoughts, thank you.

A wandering warrior of faith, Vindicator Maraad is a pillar of draenei society. After prevailing against evil in the Northrend campaign, this hammer-wielding paladin began instructing the other races of the Alliance in the ways of the Light. Exposure to Azeroth's myriad dangers has left Maraad prone to action above mediation-he will strike while others tarry.

Role

Maraad's role would be similar to that of Thrall. The combination of damage and support is what makes Maraad a valueable asset to any team. Maraad is not able to evaporate enemies in a couple of seconds, because that is not the idea behind him. He should be played like a Bruiser, being stronger in longer fights.

His ultimates are supposed to compliment to his lack of strong mobility, giving additional support for his team.

I tried to give him different builds and I ended up with the following:

Heavy Auto Attack Build
T1: Seasoned Crusader
T2: Crusader Strike
T3: Seal of Command
T4: - Both are good choices -
T5: Seal of Blood / Burden of Guilt
T6: Righteous Vengeance
T7: Weapon of Justice

Ability Damage Build
T1: Burden of Divinity
T2: Holy Power / Exorcism
T3: Wisdom of Justice
T4: Final Verdict
T5: Double Divinity
T6: Blood for Blood / Greathammer of Justice
T7: Last Judgment

Defensive Build
T1: Divine Protection
T2: Sacred Shield
T3: Gift of the Naaru
T4: Blessing of Freedom
T5: Bulwark of Purity / Eternal Flame
T6: Hammer of Wrath / Endless Crusade
T7: Blessing of Protection

These are just some builds I thought of off the top of my head. Of course talents can be switched around to gain more defense or offense to suit the situation. They were merely examples.

Combat Trait

1
Pursuit of Justice
After casting an ability, increase Movement Speed by 15% and reduce the duration of slows against your Hero by 25%. Lasts for 3 seconds.

Primary Abilities

1
Hammer of Divinity
Mana Cost: 60
Cooldown: 7

Charge for 0.5 seconds, then deal 283 (+4%) damage to enemies within the target area, slowing their Movement Speed by 20% for 2.5 seconds.

The target area would be about the size of this.
2
Seal of Justice
Mana Cost: 50
Cooldown: 15

Basic Attacks deal an 30% more damage and slow the Movement Speed of the target by 15% for 1.5 seconds. Hammer of Divinity also roots all targets for 1 second while Seal of Justice is active. Lasts for 6 seconds.

Seal of Justice can be activated while Hammer of Divinity is charging.
3
Sacred Shield
Mana Cost: 75
Cooldown: 30

Give yourself a Shield that absorbs up to 200 (+4%) damage every 4 seconds. Lasts for 12 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

1
Final Verdict
Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 80

After a 0.8 seconds delay, deals 375 (+4%) damage to enemies within the target area. Final Verdict also slows the Movement Speed of all enemies hit by 50% for 1.5 seconds.

Vindicator Maraad will slam his hammer in the ground like in the picture (he does not slam it in the picture, but I mean the movement) and then a blast of light hits the target location.

Note: Final Verdict is a ranged ability, with a range similar to Kael'thas' Q with Flamethrower.
2
Blessing of Freedom
Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 50

Increase the Movement Speed of Maraad and nearby allied Heroes by 35%. Heroes affected by Blessing of Freedom and immune to slows, roots, and dazes. Lasts for 5 seconds.

Skins

Maraad's basic skin would use the standard Justicar Set that he always seen in.

Here are some examples:

Original Color - Alternate Color 1 - Alternate Color 2

They are just some ideas. Don't mind the terrible photoshop job, I just tried to show a couple of options.

I don't think blizzard will ever add maraad, he resembles Uther too much. they could potentially use maraad as an uther skin.

Over all I think this character would be awesome for Blizzard to implement into the game, however I think that the Tier 6 talent Hammer of Wrath would deal too much damage. I think maybe decreasing it to about 5% and having it slow for more would be a better route in my opinion.

Thank you! I do hope Maraad will be a hero some day, would love to play a more offensive paladin.

I like the look of this concept, good utility and very well thought out. Very good job on Maraad, i really hope Blizzard adopts some of these concepts and yours better be at the front of the line.

Now we just need Yrel by his side and we can't go wrong!

I disagree with the notion that every Hero should have a ton of damaging abilities. Personally, I feel that abilities that just do X amount of damage are boring. Also, in this case I felt that Pursuit of Justice had it's place as a trait. Currently, Maraad has 2 damaging abilities, 1 survivability ability and 1 mobility ability, which is a healthy distribution of power in my opinion. He was never meant to be able to oneshot anyone. He is more classified as a bruiser, doing a lot of damage if you let him while also being rather tanky. About the ultimates, because of his lack of mobility (which I did on purpose) I felt that his ultimates could function as initiation tools. The first being a heavy targeted AoE slow that is ranged, which allows Maraad to catch up to the target while also dealing a hefty amount of damage. The second being an AoE boost that can help team initiation due to movespeed and immunity. I don't think that every ultimate should be a festival of fireworks and effects, they can be simple yet effective (think Uther Divine Shield or Rehgar Ancestral Healing). I agree that I could add something to Blessing of Freedom, but I don't think it is underwhelming at all.

I would choose Maraad over yet another human paladin like Tirion and Leeroy f*cking Jenkins anytime any day. We could use a draenei hero for a change.

What I would change here however is that you make Seal of Justice as Maraad's Trait instead of Pursuit of Justice (although that is decent as well) and give him another damaging ability. For an Assassin hero he doesn't have many directly damaging abilities. I would change the Heroics completely too. How about giving him a Heroic where he uses his hammer instead of doing some ranged spell? Isn't he supposed to be a MELEE Assassin? The second one is simply boring, underwhelming and unimaginative. Be more creative and try to make more actually fun Heroics!

Trying to rework the last couple of the general talents into more themed talents.

This looks amazing!!

I'm working on a Tirion Fordring Hero! I would love it if you might want to help a bit? I'm not very well with numbers and such, I don't want him to be over powered or under powered.

Keep up the good work! :D

Hey, thank you!

I try to make it look as decent as possible as I find myself often skipping concepts that look too unclear, despite the potential of having good content.
