Background: Initially tasked with retrieving the ancient Argus Stone for the swarm, Thakras was captured and experimented on by terrans who inadvertently enhanced his plague powers. Now wielding bio-toxins with unimaginable potency, Thakras ensures that nothing survives and grows back wherever he has slithered.

Design Philosphy: A ranged specialist meant to punish certain enemy compositions and provide strong zoning abilities, Thakras uses the bio-toxins stored in its body to unleash a wave of disease and death upon enemies. Its formidable abilities come at a price as they tax its energy pool greatly. This hunger for energy can be sated by consuming allied minions or summoned units like beetles, roaches and even wisps. If caught off guard, the defiler is easy prey for a persistent enemy and without allied support, is most likely to be taken down.

Malignant Growth

Cooldown: 25 seconds

Plants a cancerous growth on the target enemy building (except gates) to disable them for 10 seconds or cover (steam vents, bushes, etc.) to block enemy pathing and reveal them inside the cover spot. Lasts for 150 seconds. The tumor can be destroyed by 4 basic attacks.

The growth also blocks abilities from being placed on the area it covers like creep tumors, mines, murloc eggs, deep tunnel, and brush stalker.

Fires a concentrated ball of bio-toxins in the target direction. If it hits an enemy unit, the toxins latch onto it and deals damage to it and nearby enemies. Deals 55 (+4%/level) damage per second for 8 seconds.

Blinding Cloud
Ability Key: W
Energy Cost: 90
Cooldown: 12 seconds

Unleashes a blinding cloud of toxins in the targeted area, reducing all enemy vision inside the cloud to 1. Lasts 8 seconds.

Consume
Ability Key: E
Energy Cost: 0
Cooldown: 18 seconds

Devours a friendly minion or summoned unit regaining up to 25% energy depending on its health when was consumed.

Bio-Electric Field
Ability Key: E

Sends out a nova of electricity that deals 124 (+4%/level) damage to enemies and stuns them for 0.5 seconds.

Plague
Ability Key: R
Energy Cost: 30% of maximum energy
Cooldown: 100 seconds

After a 0.75 second delay, Infects all enemy units and buildings in the area of effect with a cancerous plague, dealing 1470 (+5%/level) damage over 15 seconds but cannot reduce their health below 1 or 5% health for heroes. Reveals stealthed units caught in the area of effect for its duration.

Upgrade: Catalytic Agent
If a target with a virus bomb attached to it is infected, the bomb explodes dealing damage equal to the full duration of the bomb to the target and nearby enemies. Each detonated bomb also regenerates 10% of your maximum energy and reduces the cooldown by 10 seconds.

Swarm Cloud
Ability Key: R
Energy Cost: 30% of maximum energy
Cooldown: 100 seconds

Unleashes a cloud of organisms to surround the area around you, preventing all damage from ranged attacks and projectile* based abilities to all friendly units inside the cloud for 10 seconds.

Upgrade: Bio-Shell

Allied heroes inside the cloud gain a shield equal to 15% of their health while inside the cloud.

*for example: Swarm Cloud nullifies damage from Jaina's basic attack, frost bolt, blizzard and water elemental attack but does not nullify the damage of cone of cold and ring of frost since they do not create a projectile when used.

Special Mount

Recluse
Instantly burrow into the ground gaining 10% increased movement speed and 50% increased energy regeneration. Attacking or taking damage immediately unburrows you.

Talents

Tier 1

Metasynaptic Node (Quest): gathering regeneration globes increases maximum energy by 5 up to 100.
Reward: Gain +1 energy regeneration and your energy is instantly restored when you use hearthstone.

Insatiable Hunger (Quest): consume 30 minions.
Reward: Consume now regains 40% of your energy and reduces its cooldown by 4 seconds. You may now cast consume on enemy minions and summoned units but will have a 3 second channeling time.

Caustic Cyst [Trait]: Malignant growth explodes with acid when destroyed and reveals damaged enemies. Deals 219 (+4%/level) damage to nearby enemies and reveals them for 6 seconds.

Tier 2

Viscous Cloud (W): Blinding cloud slows enemies inside it by 5% per second up to 20%.

Bio-Electric Discharge (E): Consuming a unit grants you a charge of electric discharge. You can activate the ability again to send out a nova that deals damage to enemies, briefly stuns them and allows you to consume another unit.

Virus Missile (Q): Virus bomb now travels toward the nearest enemy hero in its path but still latches onto the first enemy unit it collides with. Projectile speed increased by 15%.

Tier 3

Infest Structure (Trait): When used on a building, growths spawn a pair of broodlings every 2 seconds that deal 21(+4%/level) damage each and attack nearby enemy units (except the affected structure). Broodlings last for 10 seconds.

Nutrient Digester (E): Consuming a unit also regains 10% of your health.

Viral Cloud (Q): If the target of the virus bomb dies, it will leave behind a cloud that continues to deal damage for another 3 seconds.

Tier 4 (See Heroic Abilities)

Tier 5

Bane Bunker (Trait): You may channel on a growth to remove it from the ground and add it on your back to gain 50 armor that absorbs damage from the next instance of damage. You cannot channel on another growth while the armor is active.

Pathogenic Agitation (Q): Picking up a regen globe increases the travel speed and range of your next virus bomb by 50%.

Affliction (W): Blinding cloud now blinds enemies for 1.5 seconds after exiting the cloud or it ends.

Tier 6

Caustic Spray (W): Enemies caught inside the cloud have their armor reduced by 10% for 3 seconds after exiting the cloud. Non-Heroic enemies have their armor reduced by 20%.

Devouring One (E): Consuming a target now swallows it, granting 30% increased ability damage but now grants vision to the enemy. Lasts 10 seconds.

Shed Shell (Z): Using recluse now creates a decoy of you that absorbs damage equal to 15% of your health and grants unbreakable stealth for 1.5 seconds.

Tier 7

Glial Reconstitution (Z) - Recluse now grants 100% energy and health regeneration and increases movement speed to 15%.

Protective Symbiosis: Creates a blinding cloud around you when your health drops below 40% health and a Swarm cloud upon death.
(this effect has a separate 20 second cooldown)
