Threat Hero Notes
1
Gazlowe Gazlowe is not much of a threat since a lot of his stuns are easily avoided. Best thing to do is always stay mobile when facing a Gazlowe and avoid trading with him in lane when he is backed by his Turrets.
1
Raynor Raynor does not provide a huge threat. But do not get near him; as he can dish out a lot of damage against you or an ally. Your heals should be efficient enough to make his impact minimal.
1
Rehgar Rehgar vs Rehgar can happen only in Quick-Match. But if so there should be nothing special just focus on trying to out heal him and good things happen.
1
The Lost Vikings Not much is to be said about Lost Vikings. You should be able to out heal their damage. On map objectives watch their positioning they can be very sneaky.
2
Arthas Arthas does not have a high burst combination in his kit so your Chain Heal should be able to recover the damage taken by Arthas.
2
Diablo Diablo has 2 basic abilities that can stun or interrupt you from casting Ancestral Healing. When Apocalypse occurs do not stand in the circle!
2
Li Li Li Li is a good champion vs Rehgar in lane because he cannot trade with her. Laning vs Li Li you should always focus minions over attacking her due to her ability Blinding Winds which causes you to miss auto-attacks.
2
Muradin Muradin is not a threat towards Rehgar, he does no massive damage that forces your heals. Always watch Muradins target because he can keep a ally stun locked.
2
Murky Murky is not viewed as a serious pick during competitive tournaments. But if he is picked during Quick Matches or Ranked be careful trading with him since he can continue to come back and fight you in lane. Also his threat level becomes very high since he can dive into the back line with the ultimate ability Octo-Grab and stop your Ancestral Healing before it comes out.
2
Tassadar Tassadar poses no threats towards Rehgar, you are able to heal the damage he provides quite easily.
3
Thrall Thrall is not played much in competitive matches but still poses no threat towards Rehgar.
4
Anub'arak There has not been much of Anub'Arak since late Alpha, but due to his 2 stuns, he can become a difficult foe to deal with.
4
Malfurion Malfurion is not a threat unless his ultimate Twilight Dream is picked, if so ALWAYS stay as far away from him while staying in position to heal your allies.
4
Tyrael Tyrael is the same place as Sonya with not a lot of picks in competitive. But when seen he can be a threat through talent choices starting with Level 10 Judgement; similar to Illidans ultimate with a large range single target stun. Also level 13 Cast Aside has no telegraph to indicate it is coming. So be careful of this front liner he is a great initiator.
4
Leoric The king does not pose many threats towards Rehgar except for the ability to entomb allies in a line with no way of escape. I highly recommend keeping your heals for when he closes all them all in to hopefully get your ally out.
5
Abathur Abathur himself poses no threat towards Rehgar, but if left untouched can turn the tide of a game.
5
Brightwing Brightwing is capable blinking anywhere on the map with Phase Shift, this causes team fights to sway in the enemy favor.
5
Falstad Falstad is a powerful hero in the Nexus, his abilities allow him to trade with Rehgar without having to auto attack much. With his recent change in closed beta (which can make Falstad even more of a threat) is Mighty Gust. This ability allows him to launch a VERY long and wide skill that can displace you away from your carries.
5
Sgt. Hammer SGT.Hammer does not provide a high amount of hard CC. So the only thing to watch out for his her power auto-attacks when in Siege Mode.
6
Chen Chen is a very formidable opponent in lane, without a stun to stop his Fortifying Brew he is able to trade against you very easily. In team fights you have no stuns to stop his Storm, Earth, Fire.
6
E.T.C. E.T.C is a powerful ganking warrior. Always keep an eye on your mini-map to avoid being killed. You have no CC to stop his ultimate ability Mosh Pit.
6
Illidan Illidan's threat level varies with his team comp. He can easily get in your back line so keep an eye out on his focus to try and top your ally off.
6
Jaina Jaina's kit does not allow her to do more damage then that of Rehgar's healing. But she is able to trade with Rehgar in lane through spells. So try to hide behind minions when in lane vs Jaina to avoid frost bolts.
6
Nazeebo Nazeebo is a minimal threat towards Rehgar. Rehgar is allowed to heal Nazeebo's damage only if it is on one or two allies, but with AoE damage Nazeebo's damage could deem to be to high.
6
Nova Nova really does not effect Rehgar since her main damage is burst and Rehgar's Static Shield, Healing Wave, Ancestral can top up the team mate who took damage. She is capable of 1 shoting an ally so be on look out for that.
6
Zagara Zagara is a minor threat with 2 notable spells. Hunter Killer and the ultimate Devouring Maw. Stay a bit away from your allies and avoid stacking against Zagara since Maw is a AoE circle that can take your allies away from being Ancestral or stop you from using if you are grasped by the Devouring Maw. Hunter Killer is a basic ability that is VERY powerful: it summons a Hyrdalisk. Try to run from the hunter killer when it is up but maintain a good distance to soak EXP.
6
Zeratul Zeratul is a power-house. He can deal a massive amount of damage. With the ultimate ability Void Prison, he can freeze you from casting Ancestral and allow the enemy team to surround you as a healer; which makes your positioning a lot worse then it should be. *If Ancestral is casted before void prison it will go off even if an ally is caught by VP*
7
Kerrigan Kerrigan is a very dangerous hero against Rehgar. She is able to gank very easily with the combination attack. When combo'd with her talent choice Rewind at level 13 she becomes a large threat with Primal Grasp and Impaling Blades. Always stay mobile when VS a Kerrigan, watch your position and do not get combo attacked.
7
Tyrande Tyrande has a hard to land ability that can provide a killable stun called Lunar Flare on any ally. In the right hands, Tyrande can pose a high threat towards any team with Hunters Mark which provides 25% increased damage on target. So be quick and smart about your Ancestral and Shield.
8
Azmodan Azmodan can be a threat if he pushes and gains a lot of stacks from the early game. He will be able to poke you down if you are not constantly chain healing your allies and yourself.
8
Sonya Sonya, like some other tanks listed in this guide, is seldom played in competitive. Sonya is a very powerful foe against Rehgar in lane, since Rehgar cannot obtain a way to CC Sonya in lane. Sonya has 2 hard to dodge abilities: Ancient Spear and Leap. To avoid Ancient Spear as effectively as possible hide behind a minion or ally.
8
Stitches Stitches is a medium threat until 16. He becomes a high threat towards the team in terms in hooking he has the opportunity to pick up Fishing Hook at level 16. ALWAYS position yourself as FAR away as possible from him.
8
Tychus Tychus is a amazing hero. His threat level is high since his ability Overkill cannot be stopped by anything Rehgar has. His ultimate does massive amounts of damage so be on top of your heals you are putting out and make sure it is the correct target.
8
Uther Uther... Well it is pretty much a paladin and shaman showdown at this point. Uther is a great offensive support with Divine Storm whereas Rehgar is a defensive support with Ancestral and Earthbind Totem. Stay away from your team to avoid stacking for his Divine Storm and you should be able to heal his burst with a well timed Ancestral.
8
Valla Valla is another powerful carry. She can trade very well with you in lane, so try to play passive and avoid taking damage or getting killed. Damage is high against all allies so keep all heals going off of cool down.
8
The Butcher Rehgar can be one of butchers best allies but if the enemy team has butcher be careful because his damage is very high and burst is huge. Be wary when he is DPSin one of your carries.
9
Sylvanas Sylvanas is a huge threat because of her ultimate Wailing Arrows be careful if this is her choice at level 10 it is a silence projectile with a lot of damage.
9
Kael'thas Kael'thas is a new edition to the Nexus with his extremely large burst and sustain damage he is a very powerful enemy. If there is an enemy Kael watch out for his level 10 ultimate Pyroblast and can easily take out an ally if not checked with your Ancestral Healing.

About Me Top

My name is Kevin "ChubbsZ" Yepez. I've played countless hours of League of Legends, peaking at Challenger tier at one point and maintaining a steady spot in Diamond I. I continued to play League until I had access to Heroes of the Storm. I was very excited to try this game from when it was known as Blizzard All-Stars. Rehgar's Summary Top

Lore

Rehgar Earthfury was born on Draenor into a clan warring with a band of ogres. He made his first kill long before the normal age of an orc's rite of passage, and was captured by the ogres to be used as a training tool for their youths. However, Reghar grew into a strong warrior, and after slaying many of their young fighters, was sold to the orc arenas in an attempt to recoup their losses. Despite his young age, he was a superb warrior, and was chosen to participate in the orcs' invasion of Azeroth, leading to his eventual capture and internment. However, unable to subjugate him, the guards sold him as a gladiator to fight for the human, Lord Agrovane. He escaped and became a fighter in underground arenas, gaining riches and fame. He trained Valeera Sanguinar, Varian Wrynn in combat. Using his savings, he purchased the Blackrock orc, Bloodeye Redfist, from authorities in Booty Bay, and followed Thrall's teachings, becoming a shaman.

Rehgar's Abilities

Instead of using a mount, Rehgar transforms into a Ghost Wolf, increasing movement speed by 30%. Transformation is instant and can be used while moving. Basic Attacks in Ghost Wolf form deal 100% more damage, but cancel Ghost Wolf.
Heal an ally for 118 + 28 per level Health, then heal up to two other nearby allies for 59 + 14 per level Health each.
Imbue an ally with lightning dealing 11 + 3 per level damage to nearby enemies and an additional 22 + 6 per level damage a second. Lasts 5 seconds.
Create a totem that slows nearby enemies by 35%. The totem has 95 + 20 per level Health and lasts for 8 seconds.
After a short delay, heal an allied Hero for 740 + 140 per level. (2,000 Burst Heal @lvl 10)
Give nearby allied Heroes 40% Attack Speed and 30% Movement Speed. Lasts for 10 seconds.

Pros

  • Extremely high healing (burst + sustain)
  • High mobility
  • Versatile
  • Easy to play
  • High mana management

Cons

  • Low damage
  • 30% Mount speed
  • No Crowd Control via. Interrupts
  • Susceptible to Crowd Control
  • Hard to master

The Build Top

I highly suggest taking a look at ALL the builds and see which you enjoy the most.
Rehgar is a hero all about timing. Timing is the difference between a great Rehgar or mediocre one. That being said, with the builds provided they will allow you to keep your team up constantly. You as the Rehgar player should be pumping Chain Heal off cool down then jumping into Ghost Wolf to gain your talent choice Feral Heart which will regenerate a huge portion of health/mana over time. Rehgar is amazing with every warrior pick, his Ancestral Healing will heal them fully with its large burst giving the warrior freedom to dive into the enemy back line without fear while soaking damage and providing CC and damage. Rehgar is also very powerful with non-tanks such as Tychus Illidan Thrall Kerrigan The Butcher. Rehgar over all is never a poor option, with the correct timing you are able to change the out come of any fight by healing an ally to full health points again.

If you are considering Rehgar as a potential pick for your team. Try to understand the amount of damage your enemies have and how much your team can take. Trust your judgement to get clutch Ancestral Healing's off and change the tide of the battle.

I'll go over all the talent tiers and what talents work for whichever situation arises. Heroes of the Storm is rather reactive so it is wise to have a number of builds you can go to or talents you can quick switch to when needed.

That said, the main build shown above is my go-to build with Rehgar and is what I most frequently run with in competitive play. Do not forget to check other builds to see which you prefer.
  • Green is Primary Choice.
  • Purple is Secondary Choice.
  • Blue is Third Choice (very situational)
  • White is not recommended due to other possible choices (Suggest Reading Reason)

Top

Spiritwalker's Grace

Use Chain Heal off of cool down amounting to a large sustain boost during mobile team fights. Combined with Feral Heart and played correctly there should never be a point in the game where you need to back for mana. With the recent changes to Healing Totem I opt'd to go with this as my go to ability now.

Empowering Charge

This talent can become VERY useful if combined with Thrall's . Also providing a significant boost to auto attacking champions such as Raynor Falstad Valla Sgt. Hammer Tassadar The Butcher Zeratul who rely on a majority of their damage to come from . When using this ability in lane I suggest applying Lightning Shield then transforming into Ghost Wolf for a 130% damage increase.

Colossal Totem

This talent choice is HUGE deal if you are planning on picking Earthgrasp Totem (lvl16). If you are thinking of picking this choice try to communicate with your teammates to allow for greater ganking potential and team fight slows.

Healing Totem

This talent choice is a good healing out of team fights utility. With the recent changes Healing Totem is no longer better then its counter-part Healing Ward and can now be AoE'd down by enemy spells making it VERY difficult to position in a team fight I recommend using it outside of a team fight to help heal allies as you will get 100% of the value. If using the inside a team fight I recommend using it on the outskirts of the team fight or bushes to avoid it being easily AoE'd down. If you are choosing this I suggest picking it only on Sky Temple to help sustain temple fights.

Top

Feral Heart

Feral Heart allows you to regenerate 75% health and 75% mana while in Ghost Wolf. So when you are not auto attacking or low on health/mana pool sit in wolf to help you regenerate them if you are low. The explanation is very plain and not much to this talent choice besides the 75% regeneration on both pools.

Stormcaller

Stormcaller is a pretty good talent if you are going the Lightning Shield build (See build above by hitting the arrow key) It helps control your mana usage a bit more with the 40% mana reduction. This ability also allows Rehgar or his team to clear minion waves or mercenary camps with much ease with the 2 seconds longer duration. Also note that applying Lightning Shield to allies that are in the front line of the team fight can help provide minimal but still helpful amounts of damage which can be the difference between getting a kill or not.

Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction increases the heal amount of your Healing Wave on allies who are buffed with Lightning Shield the 25% increase heal will come in handy when faced against the heavy poke of Azmodan Kael'thas or the burst of Nova Zeratul. Also has very high benefits for front line heroes such as Johanna The Butcher Illidan as they should most likely receive your Lightning Shield.

Shadow Wolf

Shadow Wolf is a pretty odd spell, at the moment I do not use this ability because it does not suit my play style. If you are going to be using this ability stay outside of Ghost Wolf as much as possible during a team fight, to make sure you have this ability to utilize the stealth mechanic when you need it the most. So remember you have a stealth tool in your arsenal no matter how you decide to use it.

Top

Forward Momentum

There is a slight possibility for Forward Momentum to be good choice. But as a melee support there is not many opportunities to have continuous 's to make this talent very useful. If this talent was in a different talent tree it would stand a better chance of being a useful pick up but at the moment Earth Shield Farsight Cleanse are way more important as pick ups. So I do not recommend picking this talent over the others.

Earth Shield

Earth Shield is a reliable single shielding ability in the game. Always place Earth Shield on any ally who would be the main target for the enemy to attempt to negate any potential damage, prioritize front line as they are keeping enemies away from your back line. Combined with Storm Caller & Reactive Sparks this talent goes up in value.

Farsight

Farsight gives Rehgar the opportunity to give vision over a large area on the map. This ability is very powerful when your team has no other source of vision. Try to use Farsight to help prevent your allies from being ganked, or the enemies from doing bosses.

Cleanse

Cleanse is the primary option for this talent tree it is pretty great if used in the correct time you are allowed to use this ability in Ghost Wolf. I highly recommend this choice if the enemy has multiple sources of CC for example Kerrigan Diablo Muradin E.T.C. Tyrande. Remember with this talent choice timing is everything so make sure you use them at the correct moments to provide a high amount of value.

Top

Ancestral Healing

There is absolutely no case where more healing is bad. Be careful of using this spell it has a short delay before the spell takes effect. This spell takes #1 spot in single target healing. You are able to top every hero in Heroes of the Storm off to 100% except a few such as but if casted on them at 25% hp it will heal them fully. If your allies are taking to much damage try to use Earth Shield on them before casting to ensure that the spell completes. There is not enough words that can explain how amazing this skill is.
Example..
Rehgar Clutch Heals #1..
Rehgar Clutch Heals #2..
Rehgar Cluth Heals #3..

Bloodlust

The purpose of this build is to go with Ancestral Healing but if your on the fly choice was to pick this. Try to pick it with a lot of auto attackers like . Use Bloodlust when are near allies to give them the buffs, prioritize ranged carries if your team is split. Avoid using this ability in small skirmishes and focus on team fights since its long cool down. (BL)

Top

Healing Surge

Healing Surge is the primary choice for this build it allows you to heal your primary target by an extra 25% and also a extra bounce, when this ability is combined with lvl.16 Tidal Waves it gets a huge buff. This ability pretty much explains itself on how much value it can provide to keep your allies alive and avoid being poked down by Azmodan Kael'thas.

Reactive Spark

ONLY PICK IF other Lightning Shield Skills were picked. Reactive Sparks is one of my favorite abilities in the game because of the utility it can provide, with a 3 second reduction it will significantly improve the your Lightning Shield spells, Stormcaller Empowering Charge. When this ability is combined with Stormcaller you can have your Lightning Shield on 100% of the time on any ally of your choosing.

Feral Lunge

Is a good talent when your team needs damage. I suggest picking this when you have chosen Bloodlust since you can close the gap between you and your enemy while being closer to allies and Auto Attack a lot more with the attack speed %.

Spell Shield

This ability has became very powerful reducing -50% all damage received from ability power spells for 3 seconds. I highly suggest picking this talent if the enemy team has heros such as Zeratul Nova Kael'thas Jaina Azmodan.

Top

Tidal Wave

When Tidal Wave is combined with Healing Surge becomes very deadly combination. I do not recommend this talent if your level 13 choice was NOT Healing Surge. The spell is pretty straight forward make sure you are always a link between your allies for maximum healing. Remember you are not forced to only heal when there are 3 people near each other. Always keep your allies healthy and be ready to heal them when they are about to die.

Earthgrasp Totem

This is the secondary choice for this build, Use this ability to apply pressure for enemies charging at your back line, or ganking an enemy can become easier slowed majorly. IMPORTANT If combined with Colossal Totem your slow area is actually increased so if you decided to choose both them, use this combination to its highest potential.

Blood For Blood

This talent is never a bad choice with any hero allowed to pick it. This ability takes 10% of the enemies max health and gives yourself 20% HP. Try to use it on high priority targets such as tanks. EXP: Arthas Stitches Diablo Muradin E.T.C. Johanna

Lightning Bond

Lightning Bond is a good spell if you are going a full Lightning Shield build with all the added benefits of the talent choices from level 1 until level 16. You will receive the bonuses from Empowering Charge Earth Shield. With Reactive Sparks & Stormcaller you will be providing a lot of damage with whomever you is your target for Lightning Shield.

Top

Farseer's Blessing

I recommend picking this talent if a majority of your team is melee. It can be used very efficiently on heroes with high health points via. Arthas Johana The Butcher Muradin Stitches and many more tanks or front line engaging heroes. Also if your team is spread out and about to push for an objective ask your allies to group up for a big heal so you can heal the entire team with Farseer's Blessing. Be as efficient as possible with this talent since it runs off the same cool down as your Ancestral Healing.

Gladiator's War Shout

This a great talent if chosen with Feral Lunge because you do not have to leave wolf form to cast Bloodlust. It also buffs minions of Zagara Azmodan Abathur Gazlowe so it can benefit not just heroes but also change the tide of a battle with the minion damage.

Rewind

Rewind is a very useful talent if you are going to be picking the first build as you are going to be able to pump out a lot of Chain Heals and two Earthbind Totem. If you use Chain Heal --> Rewind --> Chain Heal it will reduce the time substantially allowing you to heal the team more.

Storm Shield

Storm Shield is the most reliably efficient talent. Even before the range buff during Alpha it has been a powerful choice. The amount of shield differs per ally, but always position yourself in a spot where you can hit 3-4 of your teammates. This is a good choice if your enemies have high burst and you have been having trouble healing your ally with Ancestral Healing this ability can help you get it off more frequently.

Overview + Play Style Top

I managed to reach my goal of reaching 200k healing in a single game, and passed it well over. (Click for image)

Overview

Rehgar is an easy hero to play but hard to master type of support. Being a melee support makes it difficult to do damage at times, opposed to Brightwing Li Li Malfurion which are able to deal damage and heal with ease being ranged. Dealing damage as Rehgar will take practice and the proper execution to avoid taking unneeded damage while providing a heavy hit from Ghost Wolf's auto attacks.

Mastering Ancestral Healing can become a difficult task since you have to be a GREAT judge of the damage and timing. Casting Ancestral Healing the second an ally is taking damage can lead to healing 1/2 of its full potential. If an ally is taking heavy amounts of damage make sure to cast Earth Shield if you have chosen it to mitigate incoming damage while ensuring the completion of Ancestral Healing. Beware of certain heroes such as Nova Falstad Zeratul Tyrande The Butcher since they can provide a significant burst that can catch you off guard if not prepared for it.

Healing is very straight forward on Rehgar you Chain Heal allies who are hurt and Lightning Shield front line. When using Chain Heal make sure there is a connection between the front line and back line so the Healing Wave can bounce between your allies, the connection can be you or another ally just make sure it's there.

Play Style

  • Stay near allies at all times, always heal them before yourself unless there is potential of death. Avoid putting yourself in situations where you can be ganked or killed during a team fight.
  • If you are looking to deal damage during the fight apply Lightning Shield to an ally warrior or melee assassin and auto attack frequently with Ghost Wolf.
  • Apply Earth Shield to allies who are in the front to mitigate possible incoming damage. Use Chain Heal on the ally who has taken the most damage, make sure there is a connection between the team to allow Chain Heal's bounce to be as efficient as possible providing heals to all ally heroes.
  • Use Ancestral Healing on the ally who is under the most pressure or if the team fight has stopped use it on the ally who is injured the most (prioritize front line). While healing your back line with Chain Heal.
    • Prepare or have your finger over your Cleanse when the enemies start being aggressive as you want to have the shortest possible stun on your allies to keep them from getting picked or CC'd to death.

TL;DR + Notes Top

TL;DR

  • High amounts of healing, lower on damage
  • Timing is EVERYTHING
  • Avoid over healing allies with Chain Heal Ancestral Healing
  • As a support you are the backbone of the team
  • This is a team game so learn to play as a team
  • This is a guideline that offers my point of view, Always play how you comfortable in the end.
