Introduction to Pushing / Tanking / minor AoE damage / great siege damage build Top

This is my first guide I am writing, I haven't been playing Heroes of the Storm very long but I do like Anub'Arak, I've enjoyed playing this hero ever since the days of Frozen Throne. The talent build I came up with was to protect my allies while they deal damage, to harass the enemy heroes healers and damage bursters. And ensure enemy support hero does not have enough room to heal all of the damaged enemy heroes in time, forcing him to expend his ultimate ability early-on in fight. This build might seem a bit odd to you but as you progress deeper into this build you will find out that you can take a massive army of minion with relative ease by simply walking towards them and doing 2-3 basic attacks.

Regen Master Top

I know this might seem strange but choosing this talent is actually giving you a really nice survivability during fights and also prevents you from ever truly exiting the fights since if you have enough globes, along with other talents, you will recuperate really fast with no need to go to the fountain (unless out of mana). I highly suggest to play this hero in such a way that you move from lane to lane, only to kill the minion that holds the regen globe to get to minimally 20 health points per second. During end game you should have up to 30-60 regen globes depending how strong the enemy team is. You will be able to tank the enemies as long as you do not approach the enemies too close and evade enemy attacks and skillshots and use your spikes cunningly (Spikes shots for me are not a way of damage, they are a way of buying my teammates that one second of extra time to save themselves along with burrow but I usually reserve burrow for escapes and to interrupt enemy casting and channeling on those critical enemy spells.)

This talent I am not so sure about... it is great synergy with Leeching Scarabs offering up 25% additional health. But in this talent build we will not be focusing on scarab builds but pure health and AOE damage potential. You could try it but I consider the regen globe to be a much more viable solution as scarabs cost mana when you cast spells and we will not be going for scarab build. Also the health gain benefits should be less of that from regen master.

AOE and pushing capabilities Top

A heavily overlooked talent by most players out there who play as Anub. This talent is quite useful for AOE damage against heroes. Keep in mind at most times the entire team will probably be crashing down on you to take you out as you 're the toughest there is in the game. This talents proves to be most useful when the enemy heroes are in clusters, giving you some excellent chance to damage multiple enemies at once. Also the sole fact you can take out a great magnitude of enemy minions all at once is a reason enough to incorporate it into my usual talent build of Anub.

Alternatively, you might look into

This talent will make great synergy with some of the other scarab talents in this buuild.

Additional healing potential Top

Another talent that will keep you healed for most of the combat, it is great to use against enemy minions by using 2-3 spells on harassing enemies and spawning beetles at the same time to help you recover as fast as possible from any possible damage you might have taken. I know it seems weird to go for this talent and not using any previous scarab talents for synergy but the pure healing potential just as it is, is worth it and it only gets better later on. Remember you want to fight for every bit of scrap of health, to keep you in the fights for as long as possible, carefully positioning yourself in the enemy fights. Also the sole healings you 're gaining so far from this talent and Regen Master, should allow you to stay alive long enough to infiltrate the enemies' side of the battlefield to gank that hero with a near-death health amount. (You should do this only if you can catch up to to the hero and have burrow to escape quickly or if you intend to use burrow to catch up to the hero, make sure the enemy is retreating and make that surprise attack, finish the hero off and wait a second or two while running for enemy to form a cluster, and spike them all and just run for it. Make sure you mount up as soon as you 've gained enough distance between yourself and the enemy.) Keep in mind, you use this scrabs on enemy minions, they 're the ones keeping you healed up, you usually avoid from using scrabs on enemy heroes, since scarabs are usually easy to kill. But oftenly, I've found that if I cast my spells and keeping the enemy focused on me, they 'll never even see the scarabs. (as long as enemy does not have AoE damage which is not too often). But usually I spam a bit of spike on enemy minion and a activate the shield to send to scrabs on enemy minions. 8 seconds of healing is sometimes worth it, when you 're fighting for that every bit of health. (Later in this build we'll find that we can extend those 8 seconds at up to 16 seconds at some times). As long as you keep close enough to your scrabs this will almost always come in handy.

Some may argue that there are better talents to choose from, so if you think there are other more viable choices you can get such as movement speed or more AOE damage incorporated along with shield, then surely, go for it.

Alternative talents:

Here is a talent you can go for if you need more damage instead.

The game-changer Top

And here is an excellent ability to help you with teamfights while keeping you alive, keep in mind, you want to use this in fights, especially if the enemy is weak or you want to gank an enemy hero. This also helps you to heal up on any damage you might receive in the team fights however, if you 're expecting this talent to make you invincible and healed up for the fight, keep in mind to stick to as many enemy heroes + enemy minions as possible, if you 're taking damage and the enemy is attacking (and will likely chase you) by simply running into enemy minions you will heal up faster. The more enemies there are around you, the faster the healing rate. You also want to be around as many heroes as possible if you 're using this as a damage dealer. Depending on when you time this ability, it could prove to be a real game changer, sometimes when enemy is pushing a lane and some of my allies are dead (one or two) depending on how well the enemy is playing and how well, they are pushing and playing and also it may even depend more on how well YOU are positioned with Anub it can change the tides of odds into your favor. If wrongly used, could end up getting you killed and exposing some of your easier to kill allies to also being ganked and causing your entire or most of your team to get wiped. So be careful with it.

Additional damage / Pushing potential Top

An additional talent to help you keep the AOE damage potential up and running. Burning Rage is crucial to get those enemy minion pushed as fast as possible into enemy gates. Also keep in mind Anub has great siege damage, I usually always have the best siege damage in any game with this build. This is all thanks to great base siege damage Anub already has, coupled with Locust Needles and Burning Rage... you 'll be breaking those towers and doors in matters of seconds, before the enemy has the time to react and actually get to the lane you 're at.

A matter of choice Top

At this level, I usually am found between 2 talents, both offer improved healing but other gives you the ability to burst damage or save yourself in the right moment of a fight. Am talking about Beetle, Juiced and Blood for Blood.

This ability speaks for itself, your scarabs have the potential to stay in a fight for up to 16 seconds. The damage they deal is increased up to 100% and am assuming it stacks with the 50% of health leeching you receive. It's a great talent for me. At this point (assuming you 've collected enough regen globes and you 're using the shield to keep up the health) you are so hard to kill that the choice of the talents is really up to you at this point. P.S. Love the name for this abilitiy, a great reference to one of my favorite movies also I absolutely loved the cartoon show when I was a kid. It's still a good cartoon by any standards. :P

I've found this spell to be incredibly useful at many team fights, at the same time keeping me safe from potential ganks by using it on a hero that has a lot of health points or using it on enemy that does not, making him lose enough health to scare the enemy off into retreat and giving me some freedom to gank the enemy hero (use spikes to slow 'em down as well or use spikes to escape in time) I use it on, or gank some other hero. Burrow really helps a lot to escape or to get to the enemy you 're trying to gank, depending your situation and your health status and also the enemy heroes (some heroes such as Jaina can really topple your health fast, so it's important to be able to escape at crucial moments or evade skillshots. Using that ultimate ability at exactly the right time will also help you maybe even gank multiple heroes at once or keep you healed up is also a nice combo. The enemy team will have a tough time killing you, I usually do not have many deaths with this build (maybe 2-3 top) but it all depends on the heroes enemies have.

I usually pick stronger scarabs but most of the time Blood for Blood will be more useful and a great way to keep your health up at crucial times.

Massive healing potential Top

This ability here gives you some great damage increase and healing increase. There is no better ability for this build. You 'll heal exceptionally, damage exceptionally. This is about it for my build. At this point it all rests on you and how you, and how well you are making key decisions when using your abilities. Even if you do make a mistake and get caught off guard you 'll still be hard to kill. I hope you find this guide helpful, this is how I play Anub, it has served me well. I've won a lot of games with it. Some more experienced players with Anub might argue with this build. But so far I've rarely lost with this build. Try it out and see for yourself whether it suits your playstyle or not.
