I think it is not mentioned but Bullseye was nerfed from 1.5 to 1s stun

Executioner and Focused Attack updates are still not reflecting in the original post

Also, just as a different point of view. I always prefer Seasoned Marksman and Vamp Assault, since late game it stacks with Giant Killer and Executioner / Nexus Frenzy to allow you 1 vs 1 almost any hero and early game u can solo some mercs (without giving up DPS with Raiders Recruitment and adding more sustain besides Fight or Flight)

Thank you Arihuss, I have reflected the talent changes in the corresponding sections.

I've also made Seasoned Marksman equivalent to Raynor's "Recruitment". Vampiric Assault is a useful talent for sustain in a fight but Focused Attack is too good to pass up for DPS and Raynor already has Adrenaline Rush if he gets low. But you do raise a good point that Raynor can use the talent to 1v1 and I can see that only being useful if you are in a solo lane as Raynor. Generally, Raynor is not an effective solo laner (with that role given to a Thrall/Zag/Xul on the team) but if you are ever forced to Solo lane, Vampiric Assault could be useful. Thanks for your input, Soldier!

Change to Executioner (5/24/2016):

Focused Attack
- Instead of adding +75% damage on Basic attacks to slowed, rooted, or stunned targets, after hitting a slowed, rooted, or stunned target with a Basic Attack, increase your Basic Attack damage by 30% for 3 seconds. This increasing the overall damage for Raynor!

Nerf to Focused Attack (2/2/2016):

Focused Attack
- Damage Bonus changed from 75.00% to 60.00%

Note: Raynor took another small hit this week. The patch notes admit that this Focused Attack was adding too much damage. In my opinion, as long as the damage bonus is over 50%, Focused Attack should still be taken and remains the best talent at that tier.

Small nerf to Raynor (19/01/2016):

  • Health decreased from 1371 to 1302
  • Health Regeneration decreased from 2.8554 to 2.7125 Health per second
  • Penetrating Round (Q) ---> Bullseye (Talent):
Stun duration decreased from 1.5 to 1.0 second
Note: The stun decrease is pretty significant but 1 second is still enough to pick the talent consistently. Older players will remember that the stun used to be 1 second and they buffed it to 1.5 seconds many patchs ago. Reverting it won't hurt Raynor too much. The health decrease is pretty minuscule as well so these changes are a small nerf.

This guide does not work in soloq. you will lose most of your games. because you cant spend anytime trying to do the recruitment strats cause you cant let your team of idiots be alone longer than 2 seconds. Or the enemy will have a 5 level lead in no time.

Hi Arcanac, I've been enjoying success at rank 1 Solo Queue for many months now with this build. As I have written, you are not a Merc-only hero (as you suggest), Raiders Recruitment is suppose to complement your teams laning/roaming strategy by quickly capturing camps and maintaining a level advantage

sorry, when i say soloq i mean non-ranked. i didnt suggest he was merc-only. i was saying that your team gets into fights way to much to even build stacks. Cause i have to keep leaving lane. but even in ranked..its not the build its the teams youre getting. i lose more than win even with this build cause of my teams. like this game im in. blackhearts bay our nazeebo has left, diablo keeps running in 1v5 and dying. thrall is running circles around a fort. 8 mins in, the score is 1-11 the enemy is winning, and has gotten the cannon 4 times, and is 4 levels ahead of us and yes this is ranked. Rank 29. the build works good, but you cant claim it will get you to rank one as your teams are what determines that, not the build.

Hey Half, I've been thinking more about your guide. Btw your guide got me to rank 3 finally in Hero League. Nobody seems to understand why I take Raiders Recruitment (as per your instruction) until they see how useful it is. I've taken enemy camps which have destroyed forts...but Ive also taken camps that do absolutely nothing. Can you tell me when is the best time to use the talent?

You want to use the talent strategically. Let's say there is an objective at top (shrine, temple, curse, etc), if you are bottom lane then you can quickly take a siege camp and have it push bottom while you go top to help with the objective. Without Raiders Recruitment, you'd be late to the objective or not be able to split push in this manner.

Also keep in mind where is the most effective camp to take. For example, siege golems on your side may push with your lane but golems on the opponent side will only go for the nearest structure (tower > fort) but may incur the aggro of the enemy lane minions. So it may be better to take your own. Vice versa, denying the opponent their siege golem can also be effective. In short, there is no perfect answer to this question, you just need a good sense of what would be the most effective capture and a good sense of where each camp goes.

As a general rule, take siege golems before Bruiser camps on the enemy side since it is a quicker and easier capture. Also, siege golems can attacks towers and forts beyond their range so they won't be killed by those structures and will demand an enemy hero to focus on the golems. The longer the game is, the more dangerous this tactic becomes since Siege Golem damage scales.

As another general rule, don't lose out on lane exp to take a camp. Wait until the lane minions are killed then quickly capture before the next wave meets. This way, you maximize the experience for your team and successfully soak/win your lane for your team.

This is the fifth raynor guide I've read through but already the best IMO. It must have taken you a long time to lay all of that out but good job. I learned alot and hope it can win me games.

Thanks for this guide bro. Really helpful. I've been using it in solo queue ranked. I've had SO MANY people with 1000-4000 hours rage at me in game for my '****ty talents' haha.

Halfie (16) | December 6, 2015 12:30pm
Let them rage. Most of the time its merely because you've picked different talents than they would have, or talents that are very popular.

Fortunately for Raynor, I firmly believe and have proven that his talent tree is versatile. So far this guide alone has helped four individuals reach rank 1, I'm glad I can help.
