General idea about Tyrande Whisperwind in Heroes of the Storm Top

I will start by saying that i have a level 20 Tyrande right after beta with master skin and have played 700+ games with her.( not showing off but giving some credibility)

The big misconception by new players is that she sucks, cant heal or damage and you are better off with a real assassin or another support.

These are my Talent builds in Hero League and QM as Solo support or dps and even hybrid.they work well depending on your team. For example if you have a Kharazim on your team it is prudent to ask and coordinate who shall be the main healer, if he is gonna heal you can go Sentinel or lunar flare build or a full dps AA.

Some small advice, Tyrandeis very skillshot oriented before you start using her,you should use ''training'' or vs AI and learn how to hit with her abilities, because if you don't,you will not be supporting well and lacking damage and utility.

Some facts that will surprise people is that Tyrande might have lowest HP and attack of all support at lvl 1 (excluding lili) but she gains +9 AA damage per level and that's similar to what assassins get lets not forget her 1.25 attack speed.
HP wise she gets more than Li Li, Tassadar and Brightwing per lvl.
Late game she will have better HP and high AA.
Overall she scales with levels much better than other supports.

Main things to watch out for, you are not suppose to go alone at all, unlike other support you work best when teamed with an assassin so you can gank early on and keep them healthy.
you are useless at taking merc camps alone, never do it.

Positioning is so important, never move to the front of the battle, you should always be behind your team since the range of your abilities is very long with this Talent build.that also does not mean being a coward since Tyrande is an aggressive support, you help your team with damage as well as healing and protection.

People playing with you should know that Tyrande has 1 burst healing ability on 8 sec cooldown and should always play safe and engage and retreat and pick opponents off, inexperienced players cannot do this but if you tell them they might just work and listen to you.

She now has a healing Ultimate with Shadowstalk, providing a HOT and some small burst healing at the end.
She can easily solo heal while providing a dangerous offensive presence as well.

Tyrande's starfall has a lower cooldown and more powerful damage after an update, this makes the talent a mandatory choice unless you are the only support on the team.

D- Trait Hunter's Mark

With the first talent i chose Ranger's Mark it goes from 20 sec cooldown down to 12 sec, an amazing 40% cooldown reduction on our trait.

This ability is a huge Damage amplification trait, the 25% damage increase from all sources on an enemy means if your team has 3 assassins and they attack the marked target it is most likely the target is dead in 2-3 seconds max even if Malfurion or Uther is healing.

If you mark a Tank they become way more susceptible to damage and can be bursted down.but you should only use it on tank if 1 or more the enemies assassins are down.

This ability also reveals enemies for 4 seconds and prevents them from cloaking.

When taking merc and Boss camps your trait is essential, this is where Tyrande's unconventional support also shines,it makes the boss die way faster and can also help a lot in destroying enemy Terrors,Golems,Dragon knights.

If by bad luck or a mistake you find yourself in a 1vs1 situation, this is your main way to victory, Hunter's Mark> Lunar Flare>AA> Protective Shield> Light of Elune>AA> Sentinel stuff like Zagara, Sylvanas, Gazlowe,Kael, Jaina(if you jump them), Nova will die.

Always use your mark but make sure you make the right choice.

Light of Elune Top

Q-

Light of Elune

Tyrande's only heal that can sustain an entire team if used constantly.

You should always use this on an Ally if none are present use it on a merc or a random damaged mob.

You should always use it when off cooldown and someone is damaged,I have seen so many streams were people just forget that they had this spell and the fact that it costs only 45 mana, making it 1 of the cheapest heals ever in the game.

I managed to reach over 55k healing with just this ability in matches that reach lvl 22+.

Thanks to Overflowing Light talent your heals are solid, you might get outhealed by Uther, Li Li, Rehgar, Malfurion but Tyrande's heals will be way more influential to the battles because of what Tyrande also brings to the table, such as Damage amp,CC,utility.

Sentinel Top

W-

Sentinel

Tyrande's main utility for scouting, sniping, finishing opponents.

At the start of the game when you reach the last gates you should use your sentinel,it will reveal people hidden in grass and that should give you an idea how to coordinate and who to focus in your gank.(Always gank with Tyrande at the start)

Every time you hearthstone you should use it and aim for positions of interest like boss, merc etc while healing in the base,by the time you get to the battlefield the cooldown is reset and your mana is gonna be regenerating in the base.

You should be using Sentinel to interrupt enemies on tributes,Nukes, killing enemies rooted and low hp by the golem, scouting the mines, enemies taking the terror or Dragon knight and stalling them, scouting the temples and shrines before you engage.

You can also force Nova, Zeratul, Samuro,[Valeera and even other Tyrande and her team out of stealth.

lets not forget its one the best abilities to find Abathur and Murky's egg and destroy them.
You can always one shot Abathur if you took sentinel talents.

Lunar Flare is Bae Top

E-

Lunar Flare

Long range and high damaging stun, something that no other support has in the game.

With both Lunar Blaze and Shooting Star talents this ability has long range and high damage,it has a 1.2 sec delay so you must train to use it.

Lunar Flare can be used the same way as sentinel but does not have global range.

Offensively you should always use your Trait(D) Hunter's Mark before using Lunar Flare and that's a free 25% extra damage.

This might seem weird but I have saved many team members from getting killed with Lunar flare,if you aim it right you can stop the enemies chasing your friends and save them or you can destroy any enemies running away especially fragile assassins.

Lunar Flare should always be used to interrupt Li Li, E.T.C., Nazeebo...as well as other Heroic's and spells that require channeling,it can also stop Novas Triple Tap.

Starfall Top

R-

Starfall

Your ultimate, that deals solid damage and slows 20% for 8 sec in an area.

I have seen people use this so randomly and enemies just move away and avoid it,do not waste it.

Starfall should always be used in bases, yours or theirs for max protection or offense, when ganking and stealing enemy teams boss, when people are afflicted with CC from E.T.C., Thrall or any type of slows, when the fight for the tribute is tight, the damage is best when hitting minions+buildings+heroes.

Don't forget it can also reveal stealthed enemies.

Using it in areas where people cant move, run or must defend is best since it allows it full damage potential.

Do not be afraid to use this on a huge wave of mercenaries,Zerg, and mobs heading to your base, core etc...
If you got Celestial Wrath talent at level 20 you can help get take downs from your base, you can even damage/annoy enemies on objectives from safe distance, combine it with Owl and Lunar flare and you can control the objective.
Use it when team fight begins.

Shadowstalk Top

R-

Shadowstalk

The most original support ultimate of all the heroes. This ability provides so many things at once with the new LT.Morales patch, it got buffed. It now provides an 8 seconds global cloak for your entire team and a HOT for the duration as well as a burst heal at the end of the 8 second mark, not to mention it got lower cooldown.

Tyrande can now pick healing talents alongside Shadowstalk and fully support her team alone.
At 60 sec cooldown this means you can plan ambushes around objectives or use it to cover your team if things are going badly and lets not forget that it now heals !

Less Cooldown than Starfall and 25% less mana cost, Tyrande will be keeping her team globally healed and invisible every 60 seconds, this is gonna be a big buff to this hero and a dangerous one in the hands of a skilled group. just imagine constantly spamming that and healing friends on the other side of the map and providing cover with cloak and Sentinel. Finally if things go south you can simply cast it and run, everyone will be healed regardless of positioning and will be invisible for more cover.

Word of advice give a shout to your teammates about Shadowstalk, tell them that they are cloaked when they see a crescent Moon with a beam around their heroes. coordination is essential for Shadowstalk. Some people forget that they are cloaked.

Shields and Rewind Top

1-

Protective Shield
(Talent)

With Healing Ward constantly being nerfed and the recent Protective Shield nerf, Tyrande needs to make some hard choices as she needs a neutral support talent to complement her.

It costs no mana and protects a target from damage with a shield based on 15% of their max health, this means it is the most effective when used on a warrior.

The only way you are gonna survive a Zeratul/ Nova/ Illidan/ Valla/Kael/ Jaina The Butcher burst is with this ability, also it can be used when your main heal is on cooldown to negate damage from an ally until you can heal again.

When you see Nova Triple Tap or kaels Pyroblast you have to immediately shield yourself or your friends, you could also use Lunar Flare to interrupt them.

2-

Storm Shield or Rewind

Both are amazing, Storm Shield is essentially a more powerful AOE protective shield that costs 0 mana and will negate solid damage from the entire team and help surviving.
It shines against heroes like Kael'thas, Jaina and can help in defending or pushing.
Make sure you use it when engaged and not before because of its very low duration of 3 seconds.

Rewind is more offensive giving you an extra lunar flare and owl as well as an extra heal.make sure you have used your heal and Sentinel as well as Lunar Flare before using Rewind.
With Rewind Tyrande becomes a dangerous hero to 1vs1. if she Hunter's Mark Someone and follows it with 2Lunar flares+ Shooting Star talent most assassins and specialist can be killed easily solo.

When you reach lvl 20 make a choice depending on what helps your team the most, even if you are not the only support Rewind should be your choice most of the time as it allows both an offensive and healing boost.

Other options Top

You might consider some other prominent options.

Healing Ward is an amazing Talent and can provide a major boost to Tyrande limited healing as support.
With Protective Shielddropping to 15% of targets health in the recent nerf i really advise people to switch to Healing Ward unless you use the shield on a Warrior its barely noticeable it wont do much on fragile assassins and Specialist or yourself as support. With the new Meta, so many stealth and bulky heroes have been added, This Talent is very important, it allows Tyrande with other support talents to maintain a team alone. Position the ward behind your team so half of its Diameter is at the front, make sure it is not within the reach of your enemies.

At level 20 with Overflowing Light she can manage an easy 50k healing, this will allow Tyrande enough Healing for the entire team alongside the damage and amp she brings to insure victory.
Positioning the ward behind your team or in the grass while making sure the radius is encompassing the entire team insures its full potential. You will heal huge amounts if you have a Bulky tank and The Butcher or 2 Warriors thanks to the Ward healing 2% of the targets max health.
Healing Ward allows better sustain healing for the entire team, while Protective Shield allows more single target protection from Burst.

Battle Momentum will allow Tyrande to improve the cooldown's of all her abilities including Starfall and thus boosts damage, healing, utility and CC.on High Ranked games this is used way more than Lunar Blaze although the lost of range on Lunar Flare will limit your ability to CC and get kills.

Trueshot Aura is very impressive when teamed up with powerful AA users like The Butcher or Zeratul Valla...it offers a big 15% boost to all heroes AA including Tyrande herself who has decent AA already.
Trueshot Aura improves Tyrande lane presence as it also grants all your minions and mercenaries a 15% boost to attack as well, this would help greatly in pushing and destroying forts swiftly.
This resembles a lot her trait as it is an Amplification, but its a passive aura that remain on and boosts every possible ally next to you, not to mention it has the highest win rate of all the talents in this tier.

Top

As you can see Tyrande's support does not come from pure healing and the CC/utility cannot be measured with numbers at the end of the game so people might have misconceptions.

Her offensive support and amp of her teammates damage will allow you to score fast kills and shine in ganks.
The fact that you can kill enemies way faster will allow you to turn the tides of the games and gain level advantage from the start.

With the recent improvement to Shadowstalk Tyrande can now provide solo healing, damage, buff, cloak, stun, amplification to your entire team.

Unless you are extremely skilled, you must play at least 150 competitive games with Tyrande to be able to use her properly, most inexperienced players will judge her from an unskilled players perspective negatively.

She is a lot of fun to play,i am very happy blizzard designed her the way she is in lore a warrior priestess you do not wanna mess with ;).
