Summary Top

Zeratul and all the stealth heroes have received big reworks in the current patch. The basic playstyle and abilities are still the same, but there are some changes to the talents and abilities. Void prison may not be our first choice anymore unless you are willing to sacrifice a large amount of burst damage potential. You can also choose talents to favor his auto attacks and sustained damage instead.

Level 1 Top

Take shadow hunter. The mana savings and cooldown reduction are the best option here.

Level 4 Top

I prefer psionic strength. Darkness descends may do more burst between the active and passive, but it only affects your auto attacks, not all of your damage. Take psionic strength unless you would prefer a sustained damage build.

Level 7 Top

Seeker in the dark gives you another teleport and a speed buff allowing you to stick to your targets. It pairs well with the level 16 talent, sentenced to death. Warp skirmisher is another option that will buff your auto attacks if you plan on skipping sentenced to death.

Level 10 Top

Void prison has its uses, but I prefer might of the nerazim. The active only deals 50% damage, so you're better off using it on blink and singularity spike during most situations. The real benefit of this talent lies in the passive, wish is our old level 4 talent. It buffs your next basic attack after using an ability, allowing for some impressive burst damage when tied into your rotation properly. Void prison speaks for itself. This can single handedly save matches and wipe teams if used properly. Personally, I prefer the passive damage from might of the nerazim.

Level 13 Top

Mending strikes should be your pick as always. It provides some much needed self sustain from your auto attacks, and it pairs nicely with the rest of your talents.

Level 16 Top

Zeratul really shines when dealing burst damage, and Sentenced to Death increases all your damage by another 30% while singularity spike is active. This pairs very well with psionic strength and the increase in uptime from your level 7 talent mean you can delete enemies. If you plan on taking master warp-blade for the sustained damage, you'll probably want to take darkness descends at level 4 along with it.

Level 20 Top

Here is our old rewind. You can reset your talents quite frequently, spamming cleaves and singularity spikes before blinking away to safety. Twilight Falls is a very strong choice, and will definitely help you put out more burst damage along with adding some utility.
Nexus blades increases your auto attack damage and applies a slow to enemies, securing kills throughout a team fight. If you have been picking talents which boost your auto attacks, this is the choice for you.
My personal favorite, shadow mending, provides large amounts of self sustain allowing you to burn down targets without dying.
