Duriel

Lord of Pain

A relentless melee bruiser who restricts his enemies and is strengthened by dealing or receiving damage.

Combat Trait

1
Masochism
Every 2 seconds, Duriel is healed for 15% of the damage he took during that period.

Primary Abilities

1
Dread Rush
50 Mana
12 sec cooldown

Charge rapidly to the targeted location, becoming Unstoppable and damaging any enemies in your path. Hitting Heroes increases Duriel's damage dealt by 20% for 3 seconds.
2
Vicious Strike
30 Mana
8 sec cooldown

Instantly strike the targeted enemy, dealing damage and knocking them back a short distance.
3
Wracking Pain
25 Mana
4 sec cooldown

Release a wave of sheer pain, damaging and slowing all nearby enemies by 20% for 3 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

1
Pit of Suffering
80 Mana
100 sec cooldown

After 1 second, the area around Duriel becomes an inescapable sand trap for 8 seconds. Any Heroes inside the pit who attempt to leave are dragged back to the center (including Duriel).

Note: the area of the effect would be around the size of Ring of Frost, perhaps a bit larger.
2
Maggot Feast
100 Mana
90 sec cooldown

The targeted area becomes infested with maggots, which deal constant damage for 4 seconds to all enemies in the zone, slowing their victims by 50%. Duriel is healed for 100% of the damage dealt.

  • (Q)Dread Reach: Increase the range of Dread Rush by 20%.

  • (Trait)Revel in Pain(!): Collecting Regen Globes increases the percentage of Masochism's heal by 0.5%, up to 10%. Reward: After 20 stacks, gain 10 Armor.

4:

  • (W)Crippling Strike: After being knocked back, the target is slowed by 30% for 3 sec.
  • (Q)Dread Wrath: Increase the damage bonus from hitting Heroes to 50%, but the duration is reduced by 1 second.

  • (W)Viciousness: Killing a target with Vicious Strike resets its cooldown.
  • (W)Vicious Strength: Increase the knockback distance by 50%.
  • (E)Agony: Wracking Pain deals 100% of its damage again over its duration.

16:

  • (Q)Dread Fury: The duration of the damage bonus is increased by 1 second for every Hero struck.

  • (E)Titanic Pain: Wracking Pain deals additional damage equal to 5% of the target's max HP.

20:
  • (R1)Pit of Torment: Enemy Heroes inside the pit take damage every second equal to 4% of their max health.
  • (R2)Plague of Flies: When the effect ends, swarms of flies travel in several directions, dealing damage to enemies they pass over.

Looks super op to me.
You'll have to give him a super low health pool to accommodate his trait.
And the cooldown on E is unreasonably low.

The short cooldown is actually sort of the point; in his boss fight in D2, Duriel has a frost aura that keeps you constantly slowed. Literally the entire fight you can hardly run away, while he chases you relentlessly. That's kinda what I was aiming for here.

As for the trait, this is one of those things that are hard to imagine in the abstract without playing it. I've never been able to decide if it sounds really good but wouldn't be that powerful in practice or if it's actually super OP. Realistically, it's effectively the same as having 15 Armor like Arthas, isn't it? Duriel's damage reduction is just a bit delayed from the damage taken. Or I could be crazy. Either way.

The Heroic Abilities are borrowed Heroics from other Heroes with one tweak to them (Suffering is an AoE version of Alarak's Counter-Strike and Maggot Feast is a healing version of Rexxar's Unleash the Boars). Aside from the Heroics, I really like the kit - really want to dive into the enemy team as this Hero and watch them flee from your pain.

Heh, you have a point there. In my defense, I didn't do it on purpose. I redesigned Suffering into a contain that fits his style, and changed Maggot Feast into a ground effect. Let the pain begin!
