Mephisto

Lord of Hatred

I really want Mephisto to be added and I like what you have done here. I would recommend maybe changing Disintegrate if only because Li Ming has it already. The Posession idea is great though.

Very nice! Reminds me of Abathur a bit! As long as the "possession" allows lets say Diablo to be in control of himself, I could see this to be very OP!

I like th conept as a whole, but i feel like atleast 1 Ult needs to be Uber mode. (how this will work i cant think of yet, but uber mephisto runs are fairly iconic to the d2 online gameplay)

Keep in mind, possession only lasts 10 seconds.

It's actually the opposite; you're jumping into someone and giving them very temporary benefits.

I originally gave Demonic Possession life leach for instance, but I decided to roll that into talents. It's something that's strong enough that it should probably require talent investment.

Through playing with talents, I expect to make a point to make possession last longer, reduce cooldown *OR* make it more potent.

I'm working a science vessel character right now and i am very close, in the talent process. I'll give it a look soon, but until that ball gets rolling i really don't know. My first impression, is that a lot depends on how interesting and flexible you can make the possession system... i'm not sure if it's right to have a character passive at their most powerful moments, plus there's the terror problem you brought up. If you could generate a fluid reason to jump characters and make it positionaly relevant to an entire map (like aba's lane defense and push aspects), then maybe you could reverse it and take your true form for a short time.

maybe try to give him the option to possess both allies and enemies, an indepth wraith system where he can get some scouting done or change host... a global posses as a mount, so if a host dies or his wraith cant reach the next character. i don't think this is a character you could ever pull off without a lot of testing. so might as well embrace it; try to build on its strength in concept, instead of worrying about what you can already pull from the game

I guess I should also say I am thinking through the Ults a bit on Mephisto.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think turning someone into something else doesn't flow well with this game format. Turning a player into Mephisto feels unbelievably right for THIS hero, but displacing a heroes skill set often has the affect of decreasing their performance; not increasing it.

This is especially evident from the general performance of the Dragon and Plant Terror. People who perform best with often do because they have A LOT of experience being that 'character'. They are often the people grabbing it.

Thanks.

What thoughts do you have on skills. You're not the first one to give me feedback on it. Talking it out might help build some semblance of better ideas.

The core idea I am trying to work under is: Possess someone, make them a beast for a very short period of time, pop out and have some cool skills you can play with as a reward for helping your ally.

This is kind of an Abathur type idea, but its also very different as you're going to be constantly between forms. Your presence on the battleground will be more widely felt / seen.

That being said, I am slightly put off by the lack of a good way to represent talents right now. I might hold off on fleshing those out until Mobafire adds in some better features for this.

The little grid I have up there doesn't work. If we at least could stick HTML into this, it would make my life easier.

I really really like the core resource management system, and how it ties into the Aba-hat secondary kit. I'm not entirely sold on the abilities thou, maybe the talents will flush it out enough, that i can see exactly where its going. But this is definitely one of the best core Concepts (if not the best) i have seen on here; i might try a take on this, if i do i'll give yea your credit and let you know what i did.

Work in progress.

I need to determine a good key skill for Q. I have some ideas, but none of the thoughts are flowing together just now.
