Earthshaper

Shaman Tank Concept (For WoW)

Earthshaper Shamans are sturdy tanks that surround their bodies with earth and stone to protect themselves from damage. Patient and steadfast, the Earthshaper takes time to build up to their full potential; but once the Shaman is fully outfitted in their rocky armor enemies will feel as though they're fighting a mountain. This strength and power comes at a cost however: the Earthshaper, carrying large stones and boulders, becomes slower as they build up their protective shell.

Finding a balance between building your armor up and shedding it when it is not needed is the key to being a successful Earthshaper.

Earthshaper Shamans use shields, one-handed weapons, and mail armor.

Combat Trait

1
Earthshaper (Tank)

Primary Abilities

1
Mastery: Summit
You gain an additional X% bonus armor while at 10 or more stacks of Tectonic Plating.
2
Under Pressure
Passive

You gain 1% increased haste for each stack of Tectonic Plating, and an additional 1% increased haste for each enemy within 10 yards, up to 5 enemies.
3
Gift of the Earth
Passive

Increases your maximum health and armor by 20%.
4
Unstoppable Force
Passive

Replaces Ghost Wolf

Increases your movement speed by 20% and prevents enemies from slowing you.
5
Tectonic Plating
Activate to gradually encase yourself in earth, increasing your armor by 20% each second, up to 200%.

While Tectonic Plating is active your movement speed is also reduced by 5% each second, up to 50%.

The rate at which you gain stacks of Tectonic Plating is increased by haste.

Lasts until canceled. If canceled the bonus armor and reduced movement speed are immediately removed.
6
Erode
Shed the earthen armor provided by Tectonic Plating over 10 seconds, healing yourself for 4% of your health for each stack of Tectonic Plating removed and increasing your movement speed by 3% for each stack of Tectonic Plating removed until Erode ends. 16 second cooldown, reduced by haste.

Activating Erode prevents Tectonic Plating from generating new stacks, and reactivating Tectonic Plating will cancel Erode.
7
Stalagmite
Strike all enemies in front of you, impaling them with a Stalagmite that remains for 6 seconds. 4 second cooldown.

Stalagmites hit by Reverberate or by another application of Stalagmite explode, damaging nearby enemies.
8
Reverberate
Begin to pulsate with waves of energy, damaging nearby enemies every second for 6 seconds. 12 second cooldown.

Each physical attack dealt to you during this time reduces the cooldown between waves by 0.25 seconds.
9
Shale Ward
Increase your block chance by 75% for 6 seconds. 14 second cooldown (lowered by haste).

Each time an enemy's attack is blocked by Shale Ward they are impaled with a Stalagmite, and you lose 5% of the increased chance to block provided by Shale Ward.
10
Porous
Reduce magic damage taken by 30% for 6 seconds. 20 second cooldown.
11
Rockslide
Pull enemies in the target area towards you over 3 seconds. 30 second cooldown.
12
Fracture
Taunt the target to attack you and increase the threat you generate against the target for 3 seconds. 8 second cooldown.
13
Bluff
Instantly gain 5 stacks of Tectonic Plating for 5 seconds. 45 second cooldown.

Stacks of Tectonic Plating provided by Bluff do not reduce your movement speed and can cause you to go over the normal cap of 10 stacks.
14
Heart Of Azeroth
Merge with the earth, increasing your current and maximum health by 4% for each stack of Tectonic Plating. Lasts 10 seconds. 3 minute cooldown.
15
Talent Tree
16
Heavy Hands (Level 15)
Passive

Your auto-attacks deal 20% increased damage for each stack of Tectonic Plating, but your attack speed is slowed by 2% for each stack of Tectonic Plating.
17
Electro-Static (Level 15)
Passive

Your attacks deal additional lightning damage equal to the movement speed slow you are experiencing from Tectonic Plating. This additional damage is divided among all nearby enemies.
18
Avalanche (Level 15)
Passive

Each stack of Tectonic Plating removed by Erode increases your attack speed by 3% for 15 seconds.

While under the effects of Avalanche your attacks have a chance to impale the target with a Stalagmite.
19
Mountain Range (Level 30)
Passive

Each stack of Tectonic Plating increases the range of your abilities by 1 yard, up to 10 yards.
20
Stratification (Level 30)
Passive

Shale Ward gains a charge.
21
Wind Rush Totem (Level 30)
Summons a totem at the target location for 15 seconds, continually granting all allies who pass within 10 yards 60% increased movement speed for 5 seconds.

2 minute cooldown.
22
Lightning Surge Totem (Level 45)
Summons a totem at the target location that gathers electrical energy from the surrounding air and then explodes after 2 seconds to stun all enemies within 8 yards for 5 seconds.

45 second cooldown.
23
Earthgrab Totem (Level 45)
Summons a totem at the target location for 20 seconds. The totem pulses every 2 seconds, rooting all enemies within 10 yards for 5 seconds. Enemies previously rooted by the totem instead suffer 50% movement speed reduction.

30 second cooldown.
24
Voodoo Totem (Level 45)
Summons a totem at the target location for 10 seconds. The totem hexes all enemies within 8 yards into frogs which are incapacitated and unable to attack or cast spells. Damage or leaving the area will interrupt the effect.

30 second cooldown.
25
Mountain Stream (Level 60)
Passive

Each time Erode removes a stack of Tectonic Plating all healing done to you is increased by 3% for 15 seconds.
26
Ancestral Swiftness (Level 60)
Passive

Increases haste by 10%.
27
Debris (Level 60)
Passive

When enemies are hit by the explosion of Stalagmites the damage they deal to you is reduced by 3% for 3 seconds. Multiple Stalagmite explosions stack.
28
Sinkhole (Level 75)
Passive

Enemies hit by the first wave of Reverberate are pulled towards you.
29
Quarry (Level 75)
Passive

Each Stalagmite you detonate reduces the cooldown of Hearth Of Azeroth or Heart Of The Titan by 1 second.
30
Eroding Winds (Level 75)
Wind Shear now deals damage. Each stack of Tectonic Plating removed by Erode increases the damage of your next Wind Shear by 10%, up to 100%. Damage is doubled against enemies that are immune to interrupts.

12 second cooldown.
31
Plateau (Level 90)
Passive

The bonus armor provided by Summit now triggers at 5 and 10 stacks of Tectonic Plating. These effects stack.
32
Heart of the Titan (Level 90)
Replaces Heart of Azeroth.

Each stack of Tectonic Plating increases your maximum health by 1%.

Activate to allow Tectoninc Plating to stack up to 15. Lasts 20 seconds.

2 minute cooldown.
33
Diamond Shell (Level 90)
Replaces Porous

Redirect 40% of all magic damage taken, divided equally amongst all nearby enemies. Lasts 6 seconds.

20 second cooldown.
34
Ascendance (Level 100)
Transform into an Earth Ascendant for 10 seconds, reducing all damage dealt to you by 20%. When the effect ends you gain an absorb shield for 10 seconds equal to all damage you suffered while under the effects of Ascendance. Cannot exceed 150% of your maximum health.

3 minute cooldown.
35
Bedrock (Level 100)
Passive

While below 20% health your block chance is increased by 25%, and you gain an additional 10% increased armor for every 1% of health you are below 20%.
36
Golem (Level 100)
Shed your Tectonic Plating, causing it to summon an earthen Golem at your location. All of your threat is transferred to the Golem, causing enemies to focus their attacks on it instead of you. Lasts 3 seconds, plus an additional 0.2 seconds for each stack of Tectonic Plating consumed.

While the Golem is active all healing you receive is increased by 30%. When the Golem expires all threat is transferred back to you.

5 minute cooldown.

Dude I just had to register and post you a reply, cause its sooooo weird. I was just going through the News of buffed.de and then I saw this Post about you on shaman tank. (http://www.buffed.de/World-of-Warcraft-Spiel-42971/News/tank-schamane-1214058/)

Cause I swear this week I was talking and discussing about Shaman Tank with my friends for almost the whole evening, and then I see someone come up with such a great concept that we exactly were thinking about almost even the same way as you do in this awesome concept here just a few days later, thats such a weird coincidence, but you absolutely did great work on it. I would appreciate it so much if someone could get this to blizz. Maybe on the blizzcon, on an Q&A or whatever....

But whatever you might not even care about it, but I just had to post it. Awesome work men!

Hahah that's crazy. Really weird to see my username mentioned in that article. Can't read German... hopefully it says nice things about the concept?

It would be cool to have a tank with dual wielding shields. Using them like fist weapons or bashing your enemies with them to do damage would be really cool. I always wanted a tank like that and since the Earthshaper looks like a slow tank it would fit him also quite well.
Good ideas you have there!

I've always thought dual wielding shields would be cool too. Left it out because I thought a lot of people wouldn't like that.

My buddies and I were talking about this idea recently, not yours specifically, but the fact that there should be a shaman tank that like covers himself in rocks. Why should druids have all the fun of 4 specs? But you put together a whole damn thing. Very well done.

I feel like there's a better place to put this so it gets seen by more Blizz employees. But this is very impressive.

Thanks! I also posted it on the /r/wow subreddit, so hopefully more people see it.
