I totally agree. In certain instances I prefer to have the extra life-steal over spell shield. It depends on the enemy teams comp and whether or not they have high burst damage.

The only other this I like to do with this build is use life funnel at level 13. If i am low health I can hit a lane and heal by attacking mercs or minions.
