Abathur, the Re-Work

Level 1 Talents

Pneumatic Glands - Increases the range of stab by 30%

Survival instincts - Increases Locust's health and duration by 45%

Networked carapace - Casting carapace on a minion also shields all allied minions nearby for 50% of the shield of carapace.

Prolific Nodes - The cooldown of evolution node is reduced by 5 seconds.

Talent Explanation: Not much to say at level 1. The decision here is mostly between more poke or more push, and depending on your future talents, any of the latter 3 can work in a push build.

Level 4 Talents

Camouflage Strain - Evolution Nodes are stealthed 5 seconds after spawning and their vision radius is increased by 20%. The green glow on minions remains.

Defensive Strain - Evolution Nodes cast an untalented "stab" every 3 seconds at the nearest enemy, preferring heroes, and gain an additional 30% health.

Support Strain - Evolution Nodes heal all allies nearby them for 30 ( + 2/level) health per second.

Dominance Strain - Cast range of Evolution Node becomes global, and the range they affect minions by is increased by 20%

This tier forces you to choose an evolution node talent. Camoflauge strain can be used to place nodes more aggressively, and enemies will have to guess where your node is like a creep tumor, only with even less information to go on; this also means that nodes can be used to scout out key positions more effectively. Defensive Strain puts more lane pressure, but your node may get killed. Support strain lest you create a healing totem-like effect for allies to retreat to if their health dips low, and dominance strain is this build's version of ballistospores.

Level 7 talents

Adrenal Overload - Heroes affected by symbiote gain 25% increased attack speed.

Sustained carapace - Carapace lasts indefinitely on heroes, but is 30% less effective on targets without a symbiote. This effect cannot stack.

Needlespine - Stab marks targets it hits for 5 seconds. The next time the target is attacked by your symbiote target, they take an additional 50% of the original stab damage.

Broodling - Casting evolution node spawns a locust.

Calldown M.U.L.E. - Summon a M.U.L.E. that repairs and restores ammo to nearby structures, one at a time.

5 talents means a big decision must be made at this tier. Adrenal overload makes a return, and sustained carapace has gotten a massive buff, perhaps a bit too massive if I'm totally honest, but it's the centerpiece of a build. Shield build will require the new carapace. Needlespine now rewards more coordination with your ally, and broodling allows for even more locust aggression at an early level, especially when combined with prolific nodes and dominance strain.

level 13 talents

Assault Strain - Locust basic attacks cleave for 50% damage. If a locust kills an enemy minion, its duration is refreshed and it fully heals. This can only happen one time per locust.

Bombard Strain - Locust attacks become ranged and deal 60% more damage.

Biotic Shrapnel - Casting spike burst on an ally with a carapace will increase the damage of spike burst by 70%

Adrenaline boost - Casting carapace on a target increases the targets movement speed by 30% for 2 seconds.

Assault strain has taken a page from Anub'arak's "Beetle, juiced" talent, allowing locusts to push longer and farther if left unchecked, while bombard strain has been slightly scaled back to account for the increased number of possible locusts. Botic shrapnel allows for a damage burst from your W ability if timed properly. Make use of Sustained carapace for double the effectiveness! Adrenaline boost will help support-oriented players let their allies get out of trouble easier.

level 16 talents

Locust brood - Activate to spawn 2 locusts. 40

level 20 talents

Ultimate Lifeform - Your ultimate evolution clone gains a symbiote that you control by pressing 1 for stab, 2 for spike burst, and 3 for carapace.

Kaiju Strain - Your monstrosity cannot die. if it is killed, it will re-summon at its last living location after 15 seconds of hibernation. You can only have 1 monstrosity at a time.

Subterranean Refuge - If abathur is killed, he will instead burrow underground, re-emerging by way of deep tunnel. This can only occur once every 90 seconds.

Hivemind - Activate to place a symbiote on ALL allied heroes. These extra symbiotes deal 50% less damage and last for 8 seconds. all symbiotes aim their stabs at the same target.

Locust Nest - Place a nest that spawns a locust every 15 seconds. 60 second cooldown.

all but one of Abathur's storm talents have been re-worked to account for his new playstyle, and here's why.
Evolutionary link was hardly ever picked, as was evolution complete, so both have been junked to make way for 2 new talents. What was the biggest problem with ultimate evolution? You had no talents while using it! Not anymore, now you can utilize every choice you've made thus far and super-charge your clone.
Feeling a bit more like an unstoppable, endless push would be better? Try the kaiju strain and put a death clock on your foes. Even if they kill your monstrosity, it'll just come back again and again. Thanks for letting me borrow your ultralisk talent Kerrigan.
if you're new to abathur, Subterranean refuge will let you get away with making positioning mistakes, as well as letting you play hyper-aggresive while it's up.
Hivemind has been dialed up to 11, at a price; but now it comboes even better with adrenal overload and regenerative microbes. Evolve. conquer.
