Arthas Rework

The Lich King

Combat Trait

1
Rune Tap
Using an ability passively grants you a Rune of ability's respective type, replacing the last one:

Death Coil: Unholy Rune
Howling Blast: Frost Rune
Blood Boil: Blood Rune
Army of the Dead / Summon Sindragosa: Death Rune

Rune Tap causes your next Basic Attack to strike immediately and release the power of your currently active rune.

Unholy Rune: Summon a Bloating Ghoul which blows up after 3 seconds, dealing AoE damage, and additional damage to Minions.


Frost Rune: Causes your next Basic Attack to deal 100% increased damage and slow the target by 40% for 1.5 seconds.

Blood Rune: Heals you for 10% of your maximum Health.

Death Rune: Reduces your Basic Ability cooldowns by 50%.

Rune Tap has a cooldown of 10 seconds.

Rework goals

Goals of the rework:


-Make Frostmourne Hungers (now Rune Tap) feel like an intrinsic part of Arthas's kit, rather than "just an extra ability".

-Reduce the dependency on the Rune Tap talent for self-sustain.

-Increase design space for talents revolving around the now-defunct Trait.

I actually like your idea of adding a new trait for arthas, it sounds quite cool! It adds way more depth to the play style of the hero. However, gameplay wise, i would say that with the original trait removed, arthas is going to have serious mana problems. You should make activating rune tap grant mana as well and nerf some of the special effects of the runes, or change some of the mana cost of other abilities. Another problem would be that in a team fight, arthas is going to need to chose what rune tap, a wrong choice might result in a lose. It seems too unforgiving.

*sighs*

once again, the heroes do not need overhauls. this is the second one ive seen. these were designed by proffesionals to be balanced to play and fun.

the other hand I really like what you're trying to do with arthas, as I always found him kind o fa boring hero to play. +1.
