Baal

Lord of Destruction

Lore: As the Lord of Destruction, Tor'Baalos is happy only in an eternity of infernal ruination. Through the selfless sacrifice of the mage Tal Rasha, the Horadrim were able to imprison him beneat the deserts of Lut Gholein. However, Destruction may not be so easily contained. Wrestling control of Rasha's body, Baal laid waste to Northwestern Sanctuary, and corrupted the Worldstone itself. All denizens of the Nexus should fear, for his aspirations should be too much the same here.

Role: A heavy crowd control mage with abilities to disrupt the entire enemy team.

Design: With Baal, I wanted to capture the idea of someone who is amped up by causing destruction, but grows "bored" when out of combat and has nothing to destroy.

His Passive Trait achieves this by rewarding staying at the frontline and punishing disengagement. The drawback of this design is you must use your abilities economically, or risk missing them and losing all your stacks while they are on CD. Using abilities economically is the opposite of the chaos-loving Tor'Baalos should do, and therefore was his Active Trait implemented as a sort of safety net that you can activate to keep Baal fighting if you're stuck with all abilities on CD. In turn, you are balancing the risk of having severely reduced damage. Still, in the hands of a skilled player it is still perhaps too useful, hence the 25 second cooldown.

The rest of his basic kit focuses on zoning, crowd control and peel, with his W serving as his most potent DPS tool. Note that Q and E have a Minimum Casting Range, meaning he is quite reliant on his team's ability to protect him from a dive, although the secondary rupture of his E can buy him some time.

One of his ultimates seemed fitting to be a global ability targeting all enemy heroes, since his brothers, Mephisto and Diablo also have these. His iconic Festering Appendages were taken from his Diablo II incarnation, made targetable and destroyable to balance this otherwise potent ultimate.

Mana Rift used an interesting mechanic not currently found in the game, and no time like a speculative hero to experimentally implement. It serves as his DPS-oriented ultimate option.

Basic Stats:
Max. HP: 1430
HP Regen: 2.8437
Basic Attack Damage: 65
Basic Attack Speed: 1

Feel free to comment your opinions, questions or observations. This is my first venture of making a full conceptual hero, so some contradictions are to be expected.

After 4 seconds, stacks begin to rapidly decay at a speed of 25% of stacks lost per second.
Can be refreshed while active.
