Blood Queen Lana'thel

Queen of the San'layn

(Melee Support) An aggressive healer that uses blood magic to restore and empower allies.

To round out my supports and desire to see a true blood caster, I made a design for a more offensive, bruiserish variety of healer. While her goal here is to heal her boosted team, Lana'thel was nevertheless a a raid boss that's wiped a team or two of her own back in the day. The offensive style aside, HotS lacks a true "damage to heal" archetype (aside maybe from new Malf), and while many could fit the bill, I opted to do Lana'thel, as one of the more memorable boss designs from the glory days of WoW. Her kit is about half orginal, half made-up, with both her heroics being taken directly from the raid encounter, and her vampire mechanic being incorporated into her first basic ability. Other than that, only a few of her talents are from the fight, with most of it being made-up.

-Must play forward to effectively manage her resource

-Can go through Blood quickly if not careful

Combat Trait

Darkfallen
Lana'thel uses Blood in the place of mana, regenerating gradually at a rate of 5/sec. Her basic attacks restore 20 Blood and mark targets with Essence of the Blood Queen, stacking up to 3 times and lasting for 4.5 seconds. Lana'thel restores 60 health when she gains Blood from an attack or ability.

Frenzy (lvl1 talent)
Enemies turned by Vampiric Bite deal 100% increased damage for the duration, and the effect lasts 0.3 seconds longer.

!Quest: Turn 10 enemy heroes against their team.

Reward: Turned heroes will now use their first basic ability after being bit.

Fledgling Impotence (lvl1 talent)
Essence of the Blood Queen lowers spell power by 10% per stack.

Rending Claws (lvl4 talent)
Essence of the Blood Queen deals 15 damage a second per stack, granting 5 blood per tick.

Sire and Childe (lvl16 talent)
You also gain the damage and movement bonus from allied uses of Vampiric Bite, and its effects on allies last for 1 second longer.

Sweeping Claws (lvl16 talent)
Your basic attacks cleave in an arc in front of you and Essence of the Blood Queen slows targets by 12.5% per stack.

Primary Abilities

Vampiric Bite
Cost: 50 Blood on allies
Cooldown: 6 seconds
Leap a short distance and bite the target, enemy or ally. If an ally, use 50 Blood and increase their damage and movement speed by 25% for 4 seconds. If an enemy, deal 90 damage and restore 30 Blood, turning the target against their allies for 1.5 seconds if they have 3 stacks of Essence of the Blood Queen.

Transfusion
Cost: 60 Blood
Cooldown: 4.5 seconds
Heals the target ally hero for 330. Alternatively, damage the target enemy for 175, refunding 20 blood and healing you for an additional 70 health. Cannot be cast on yourself.

Slashing Dive
Cost: 40 Blood
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Propel yourself in the target direction with your wings, slashing enemies on the way for 110 damage and gaining 10 blood for each. Each enemy hit also receives 2 stacks of Essence of the Blood Queen.

Heroic Abilities

Cost: 50 Blood
Cooldown: 65 seconds
Take to the skies, rendering yourself invulnerable, increasing your attack range by 4, and doubling your Blood regeneration rate for 4 seconds.

Pact of the Darkfallen
Cost: 60 Blood
Cooldown: 45 seconds
Links two enemy heroes within a 3 second window, causing them and enemies near them to take 100 damage a second, increasing by 25 per second, lasting for 6 seconds or until all linked targets walk within 2 range of one another. You and nearby allies are healed for 50% of the damage dealt.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

-Enemies turned by Vampiric Bite do not use abilities, *unless you complete Frenzy at level one
-Blood Drive does have a brief grace period like Taste for Blood on Azmodan and Sulfuras Hungers on Ragnaros
-If Blood Council is taken at 20, all 3 targets must run together to end it early
-The blood bolts in question with Bloodbolt Whirl are about the size of Lunara's Q, with the same 0.5 second delay
-The first cast of Pact of the Darkfallen would be the normal 5.5 cast range, but the second cast would be roughly the length of a max-range Medivh portal
-*Added some sample talents related to her trait and Vampiric Bite
