Darion Mograine

Highlord of the Ebon Blade

Darion Mograine is the Highlord of the Knights of the Ebon Blade, an order of death knights which turned renegade after they were freed from the will of the Lich King.

Combat Trait

1
Blood Shield
Activate to increase the healing of Death Strike by 50%. 30 Second Cooldown.

Passive: Gain a shield equal to the healing done by Death Strike. This effect stacks up to 3 times, the shield cannot be more than 25% of your maximum health. 12 Second Duration.

Primary Abilities

Death Strike
Cost: 60 mana
Cooldown: 10 Seconds

Strike the target for 150 (+10 per level) damage and heal yourself for 20% of the damage that you've taken in the last 5 seconds.

Heart Strike
Cost: 70 Mana
Cooldown: 6 Seconds

Slashing attack with an 180 degree arc, hitting all enemies in front of Darius for 185 (+10 per level) damage.

Death and Decay
Cost 100 mana
Cooldown: 30 seconds

Targeted AoE that deals 50 (+5 per level) damage per second for 6 seconds. Enemies inside of your Death and Decay are slowed by 25% for 4 seconds.

Cooldown: 90 Seconds

Activate to temporarily increase your maximum health and healing received by 20%

Mark of Blood
Cooldown: 60 Seconds

Place a Mark of Blood on the target Hero. Whenever you or an Ally attack the Marked target, instantly heal for 5% of Marked target's maximum health. The effect lasts for 10 seconds or 10 attacks, whichever occurs first.

Cooldown: 120 Seconds

Target an enemy Hero. That Hero and all enemy Heroes near the initial target are grabbed by shadowy tendrils and pulled to a new target location.

Dancing Rune Weapon
Cost 80 Mana
Cooddown 90 Seconds

Summon a shadowy copy of Darion's weapon, while Dancing Rune weapon is active Darion gains 40 Armor and Blood Shield has no cooldown. Lasts for 6 seconds.

Level 1

Thicker Than Water: (Quest) Absorb 50,000 damage with Blood Shield. Reward: Increase the total maximum shielding of Blood Shield to 33% of your maximum health.

Blood Bonds: (Quest) Heal yourself for 50,000 damage with Death Strike. Reward: Reduce the cooldown of Blood Shield by 15 Seconds.

Blood Soaked Armor: (Quest) Reach 3 Stacks of Blood Shield 25 times. Reward increase the duration of Blood Shield to 16 seconds.

Level 4

Blood Caked Blade: Reduce the mana cost of Death Strike by 10 and the cooldown by 2 seconds.

Spectral Deflection: If an attack deals more than 25% of your maximum health, Death Strike's cooldown is instantly reset. This effect cannot occur more than once every 30 seconds.

Bladed Armor: Death Strike grants a charge of armor reducing the damage of the next basic attack against you by 50%. This effect stacks up to 2 times.

Level 7

Blood Clot: Heart Strike reduces the movement speed of Enemy Heroes by 25% for 2 seconds.

Butchery: (Quest) Hit 50 enemy heroes with Heart Strike. Reward increase the damage of Heart Strike by 25%.

Might of Mograine: While at or above 75% Health, Heart Strike ignores 15 Armor.

Level 10

Cooldown: 120 Seconds

Target an enemy Hero. That Hero and all enemy Heroes near the initial target are grabbed by shadowy tendrils and pulled to a new target location.

Level 13

Rigor Mortis: Increase the slowing effect of Death and Decay from 25% to 40%.

Defile: (Quest) Damage enemy Heroes with Death and Decay 100 times. Reduce the mana cost and cooldown of Death and Decay by 20 mana and 10 seconds.

Decrepify: Death and Decay's damage of time deals an additional 1.5% of the enemy Hero's maximum health in damage per tick.

Mark of Blood: Cooldown: 60 Seconds

Place a Mark of Blood on the target Hero. Whenever you or an Ally attack the Marked target, instantly heal for 5% of Marked target's maximum health. The effect lasts for 10 seconds or 10 attacks, whichever occurs first.

Level 16

Blood Presence: While Darion has at least one stack of Blood Armor, Darion gains 25 Spell Armor.

Vampiric Blood: Cooldown: 90 Seconds

Activate to temporarily increase your maximum health and healing received by 20%.

March of the Damned: While standing inside of Death and Decay and 3 seconds afterward, Darion's movement speed is increased by 30%.

Level 20:

Tightening Grasp: After arriving at the target destination enemy targets are stunned for .5 seconds and have their movement speed reduced by 50% for 2 seconds.

Empowered Dancing Rune Weapon: While Dancing Rune weapon is active the cooldown of Darion's basic abilities is reduced by 50% and the healing bonus of Blood Shield is increased by 50%.

Death's Advance: Death and Decay's cooldown is reduced to 15 seconds and it's duration is decreased to 3 seconds. However, after standing in Death and Decay for 1 second Darius becomes unstoppable for 2 seconds. This Effect cannot occur more than once every 60 seconds.

Purgatory: Instead of dying, whenever Darius takes fatal damage he instead gains a shield equal to Blood Shield's maximum amount (25% or 33% of his maximum health). This shield has 4 second duration, if Darius is not healed for an amount equal to the shielding, he dies at the end of the duration.

Final Thoughts

All of these numbers, from damage to cooldowns, where pretty much though up on the spot. I know that Arthas is pretty much all ready representing the Death Knight class, but Blood is probably my favorite tanking spec in all of WoW. I would absolutely love to see a Blood based Hero in Heroes of the Storm. Anyway, I would love to hear feed back.

Doesnt really seem personal enough to the character. I mean , yes it has all the iconic blood death knight spells, but is that really all darion is? A generic blood death knight?

Death and Decay itself has to go to Kelthuzad whenever hes added, hands down.

Overall I think its fine to want a blood theme but there needs to be an identity. I mean Arthas is leaned towards the frost spec in HoTs, but it still feels somewhat like Arthas (even if he is literally the worst possible example save maybe nova for feeling like the original source.) I couldnt copy/paste any old death knight in his place with the same abilities but it would still feel right.

I think death strike is the best ability youve listed but besides that, i would go back and personalize each ability with detail to make it feel like im Darion Morgraine, Deathlord of the Ebon Blade, Once wielder of the corrupted Ashbringer, the greatest death knight besides Arthas to exist.

Number tuning and talents come after the main concept is solidified.
