Deckard Cain

Last Horadrim

Cain is a supportive specialist who is super frail and weak in direct confrontations, but he can be a huge threat to enemies who underestimate him.

Cain is essentially a support with a lot of utility and cc that fits in with wombo-combo teams, or heroes that need assistance to be powerful. Identify is kind of a fun little minigame for your team to play: if they're pushing then occasionally an item will drop from minions (with that satisfying DIII drop sound) and your teammates will pick it up. Then they need to bring it to you when necessary and you can identify it, granting them a sizeable buff for quite a while. It forces them to pay attention to your well being otherwise they won't get their buffs, and enemies will obviously want to eliminate him to deny those buffs, making a really thematic VIP system for both teams. This is strengthened by his unique mount which lets him catch a ride on an ally, which is a good way to get around or tag along with a hero like Falstad, and can save you from an unfortunate fate due to the invulnerability.

Stay Awhile and Listen is kind of like Void Prison/Mosh Pit. You sit down, and as long as you're not interrupted you can sit there for a while. Then if enemies don't pay attention to you they will gradually all fall asleep, and since the ability lasts for ages your team will have time to catch up and trap them. It doesn't have a ton of range but if enemies get close they will quickly be slowed and knocked out. Using the ability when you're surrounded or under assault can easily stall your death or buy a ton of time for your team. It does have a lot of counterplay though, for instance if the enemy is out of range they can hit you with impunity, or if they're ballsy just waltz up and burst you within 1.5 seconds. If they fail though, they're gonna be in for a loooong nap. I also had an idea for how the sleep would look, and I think it would be hilarious if it just made the body ragdoll in place and flop to the floor.

Healing Potions are like little healing stations for allies that you can place nearby for them to pick up when they want to. The delay makes it hard to use them in-combat and they're easily denied by enemies but with good prediction they can provide a lot of nice heals. Trouble is a troublesome ability that can distract an incoming minion push from accomplishing things kind of like Sylvanas, and can possibly lead them on a wild goose chase to behind your towers. The active component makes you ultra tanky for a little while which is quite nice for not dying. It should be used whenever possible to ignore lane damage or high-damage abilities.

Horadric Cube is like a small healing Ward that can't be destroyed, and will grant your allies a large chunk of armor for quite a while. If your team is getting wombo'd this can potentially save them if you don't get bursted before you can use it, making it a pretty good ability if you intend on being closer to the action. Meanwhile the Book of Cain is a much more utility based passive that lets you apply a constantly stacking effect to a priority enemy by consistently stacking on them. It's special because it works separately from armor effects and only applies to each enemy written in. It's got a lot of range and can be nice for somewhat safely assisting your allies from afar though you still need to look out for assassins.

Combat Trait

1
Identify
Deckard uses no mana.

Items are dropped by enemy heroes, or by a single minion once per wave as long as there is an allied hero nearby, allied heroes can walk over items to pick them up. Cain can channel on allies with items granting them 15% increased damage for 30 seconds. Each ally can only have 1 item.
2
Trouble
Nearby enemy minions and mercenaries will prioritize attacking Deckard but will not pursue him. Gain 25 armor against non-heroes.

Reduce target ally's cooldowns, and target enemy is stunned by next allies' basic attack

Primary Abilities

1
Stay Awhile and Listen
12 second cooldown (starts at the end of the ability)

Sit down after a moment and channel for up to 6 seconds. Enemies in an AoE around you are gradually slowed up to 30%, and if they stay in the AoE for 1.5 seconds without taking heroic damage they are put to sleep. Sleeping enemies are stunned as long as they are in the AoE and will stay that way for 2 seconds if the ability ends, unless they take damage in which the effect instantly ends.
2
Healing Potion
10 second cooldown, 2 charges

Tosses a health potion at the target location landing after 1.25 seconds, and sits there for 20 seconds. If an allied hero walks over it they are healed for 385 (+ 4%lvl) health but cannot be healed by a potion again for 5 seconds. Breaks if an enemy hero walks over it.
3
Trouble
15 second cooldown

Passively taunts minions and mercs to attack him over other targets, but will not pursue out of lanes. Activation reduces movement speed by 20% but grants 75 armor for 3 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

1
Horadric Cube
70 second cooldown

Places a cube at the target location and channel for 5 seconds, granting nearby allies 50 armor. Cain is untargetable for the duration.

[Storm Talent] Kanai's Cube: The Cube grants allies with identified items an extra 25 armor for 10 seconds.
2
Scholar
Can "attack" enemies with 9 extra range, but basic attacks beyond his standard attack range deal 0 damage. Each "attack" has him write in his book applying a stack to the target up to 30 stacks, causing allies to take 1% less damage and deal 1.5% increased damage to the target per stack. Stacks decay every 5 seconds or on-death.

[Storm Talent] Book of Cain: Every 6 "attacks" against the same enemy marks them for 10 seconds, granting vision of them and allowing you to see their cooldowns.

Special Mount

1
Waypoint
10 second cooldown

Channel over 4.5 seconds to teleport to the Altar or the target destroyed or allied fort, but damage taken breaks the channel. Hearthstone is disabled.

Notes

Not gonna lie I just made this because Blizzard said they needed ideas for Deckard Cain so I threw in my quickly made idea. Hope this is the coolest one you've seen yet, because I certainly think it should be. If all else, at least enjoy my mount idea.

If you want to see more of my designs, here is a list of all the designs I've made.

EDIT 1: Reworked both Heroics heavily, added Waypoint.

Hey it's me again! I thought about something inspired by your "Trouble!" basic ability. Go check it out here, it's the orange written text in the Town Portal basic ability http://www.heroesfire.com/hots/concept/deckard-cain-complete-6154

Hope you like it! ;)

Heh, the ability to teleport enemies through your portals sounds like quite a bit of fun, kind of like Bard's portals. There's a slight issue with it being able to send enemies into your own Altar though, so you might want to clarify that a little bit. Otherwise I like it! Having enemies trying to chase Cain around is quite thematic in my opinion.

One thing about your design is that I got thrown off by the massive wall of text on his Trait lol. You may want to have the description of how the abilities work be the only thing on the ability description, then add in a detailed description elsewhere (I usually put mine below the skill description, though I did it differently for Deckard because his kit is weird). Simplicity makes things much nicer. Otherwise, I think I would be fine playing as Deckard, or maybe not since I'm a warrior main at heart :P

Omg this is such a trolly build concept for Deckard Cain XD. Not sure if people who respects the Elder will accept this, but as a Murky player I like that!
