Deckard Cain

Horadric Scholar

Deckard Cain the Horadric scholar has helped throughout the most dangerous quests countless of guardians of the Sanctuary universe, Demon slayers, and Nephalems into their conquests against the demonic forces. He is now ready to go and do exactly that in the Nexus as well

NOTE Some talents marked as Curse, these usually give stronger bonuses than a normal talent would, but they also force weaknesses on you or your team that opponent can exploit for their own advantage

Strengths
  • Empowers abilities of allies, especially effective when paired with some mages
  • Uses Runestones to "copy" and redirect some waveclear portion to other lanes or surprise opponents who think they're alone/safe on a lane
  • Decent at keeping himself alive in a 1v1 vs an auto-attacker
  • Highly-impactful/game-changing ults at his disposal, cooldowns being short relatively as well

Weaknesses
  • Ineffective waveclear and dealing with threats all by himself unless talented in certain ways
  • Low mobility and potentially also low capabilities of survival

Combat Trait

1
Pendant of Light
[Passive] Deckard Cain has rather weak attacks with his Cane that deal only half damage to heroes but he also has 50% damage taken reduction from all non-heroic sources in return. In Addition = Cain uses this rather powerful light-emitting amulet artifact to defend from stronger foes in his most dire times

[D] Activate to emit a channeled linear beam of light that blinds the first opponent hit as long as it's facing the direction toward the source of the Amulet

[No CD, drains 8 mana/sec]

Primary Abilities

1
Horadric scroll
Q Use this scroll on an ally hero and give them a one charge of buff in which a basic ability (casted next) has double the cast range and costs no mana. Does not stack on same target to empower multiple spells but lasts rather long duration (20 seconds)

[CD = 8, Mana = 40]
2
Runestones
W Cast a couple of Runestones on the map, one of them is facing Cain's direction and cast right in front of him, the other is manually set by Cain in both (position as well as exit of projectiles direction). When a projectile spell hits any of these runestones they absorb the original projectile and then "replicate" on both runestones and redirect the projectile spell in the exit direction they're facing. The runestones last for 5 seconds

[CD = 12, Mana = 65]
3
Horadric Cube
E Place the cube on the ground granting all allies in a certain radius 15% bonus spell and attack power. The cube doesn't block pathing but it DOES absorb skillshots. The beam of light of Cain's pendant gets transformed/dispersed into a magical cone of magic damage

[CD = 10, Mana = 50, Radius = 5, Duration = 4 sec, DPS = 35 + 5%/level per tick, 2 ticks a second]

Heroic Abilities

1
Stay Awhile and Listen
R1 Cain sits nearby heroes around him in order to tell stories of his secrets rendering them stasised for the duration but also refreshing the CDs of all basic abilities of allies affected

[CD = 60, duration = 2 sec]
2
Faith of Horadrim
R2 Cain puts his staff on the ground, kneels saying a prayer and then can draw a shape of any kind within 2 seconds within a larger area around him a sand bridge of that shape will appear in the "thin air". Opponents cannot climb on this bridge and allies that are on the top on it have 40% bonus vision radius, attack range, and cast range. [Cast range does not stack with the Horadric Scroll bonuses]

[Mana = 80, CD = 20, duration = 3 sec minimum but Cain can keep it's existance by a special channel while not on it, channel cost = 8 mana/sec]

Talents

Lvl 1:

[Passive, Curse] Careful old man: Attacking a target multiple times with the cane causes a "curse" effect, a skeletal executioner (2-hand broad-axe heavy armed skeletal warrior) appears from the spot and attacks nearest foe but Cain cannot control himself for 1.5 seconds mindlessly runs backwards [opposite from his latest facing direction and is unstoppable for the duration] [attacks required = 5 on non-heroic, 3 on a hero]

[Q, Curse] Mystic energy: The horadric Scroll also causes 30% magic damage HP return from the affected spell back to it's wielder but granting the Scrolls reveal the wielder to the opponent for 7 seconds

[E] Greater Cube: Increase the damage-empowering bonuses of Horadric cube by additional 10% [25% instead of 15%]

Lvl 4:

[Q] Horadric Reach: Increase the cast range bonus and the duration of Horadric scroll by 40%

[Q, Curse] A chosen one: Horadric scrolls also increase attack damage of it's wielder by 15% but also reduce it's armor by the same amount for the duration [Cain gains the ability to cast Horadric Scrolls on opponents as well]

[W] Stone radiation: Runestones slowly damage nearby opponents [31+4%/level per tick, 2 ticks per second]

Lvl7:

[Passive, Curse] Staff Of Kings: Deckard Cain replaces his cane with the Legendary 2-hand "Staff of Kings" which cause his auto-attacks deal 5% of max HP and cause "static charge" effect to nearby opponents to lose 2% of max HP per hit well. However Cain loses 15% movement of unmounted speed as a result

[D, Quest] Empowering Cubes: Killing opponents with dispersed magic from the pendant's light increases it's cone range by 1%. Reward = after killing 75 gain 25% additional damage and cause targets affected by this cone of magical damage be vulnerable for 50 seconds (or until Cleansed)

[W] Collectors of Light: Cain can use the Runestones for empowering his pendant's beam in the same way that Cubes would do. Additionally, the Runestones will now react to light-effects (spells that cause blind) and disperse it to magic effect dealing damage in the area of effect of the blinding spell. Damage dealt is significant when not caused by Cain's light beam and proportional to targets affected [100 + 4% per level + 4% per target affected]

Lvl13:

[W] Magnetic attract: If cast within a relatively low range the two runestones attract one-another and after awhile they "merge", when shooting projectiles at merged runestones all projectiles cast on them become 16-direction radial nova-casts

[W, Curse] Runescapes: Runestones can now be placed globally on the map, no longer have duration but can be destroyed by abilities cast by opponents. Additionally, Cain and his ally heroes can push/reposition these at speed of 80%, however CD is doubled and set after one of them is destroyed [meaning opponents can manipulate this rather long CD of Cain's]

[W] Stony Field: Instead of 2 runestones are cast as 5, Cain can choose them be set within a certain radius but no longer controls the direction of the projectiles' direction exits (now all point toward the center). Additionally if an opponent is killed by projectiles in this manner the CD is set to 5 seconds for next usage

Lvl16:

[Q] Champions of Horadrim: "Killing blows" over opponents done by allies empowered with Horadric Scroll's spells permanently increase the ability power and attack damage by 5% to the wielder, whilest Cain permanently gains 5 armor increase

[D] Travel lightly:
[Passive] Beam of Light channeled by the Amulet has double the reach and emits the beam for additional 1 second after Cain stops the channel
[Active] Activate to put one piece of the Amulet on the ground to Emit one beam continuously in a direction for 10 seconds while wielding the other piece in himself, but while this effect lasts the range bonus from the talent is temporary lost [CD = 45]

[E] Solid surface: Horadric Cube's size and radius of effect is increased by 50% and it now can block physical paths. Additionally one of allies can take refuge in it for the duration

Lvl20:

[R1] Campfire: Stay awhile and listen gives 25% magic shield and magic damage HP return for 5 seconds. Killing opponents while these bonuses last reduce the CD of Stay Awhile and Listen by 10 sec

[R2] Horadric Mastery: Cain gets 3 charges of the ability and bridges last indefinitely. Additionally Cain can channel the bridges to rotate them and levitate within a certain casting range from their original position of origin

[E, Curse] Pandora's Box: Casting Horadric Cube drops another similar artifact at Cain's location. The Horadric Cube now also reduces spellpower of opponents in it's range of effect, however both (the Cube and the artifact) can be destroyed by either side with spells/skillshots aimed at either of them. Both explode for 250 + 5% per level in larger radius (full radius of effect) and the explosion effect damages both sides (friend and foe)

[Active] Town Portal: After 2 seconds of Channel open a Portal that Cain and 2 of his allies can use to go back in base [CD = 30 sec]
