Kobold Candle Bearer


Kobolds are a race of diminutive, rat-like subterranean humanoids who dwell in and around caverns and mines. They are not particularly intelligent and are notoriously cowardly, preferring to keep their distance from other, larger races. Kobolds are famous for being obsessively protective of the candles they wear upon their heads and which help them light their way through the dark tunnels they call home.


Kobolds dive deep into underground mines, and Goldtooth is no exception. To that end he has a unique role in the nexus: his job is to work in the jungle rather than lanes.

At the center of his kit is his trait: Candle. Goldtooth can toggle his vision radius on and off at will. While he is without vision he gains a unique buff called "In The Dark", empowering his abilities. With this buff he is able to set up dangerous traps within the jungle, making it a hazardous place for enemies to move through.

Additionally, while In The Dark Goldtooth is able to mine Gold Veins. Each Gold Vein drops 1 Gold Ore, and for every 10 Gold Ore you've collected you can select a Bonus Talent.


Each time you gain access to a Bonus Talent you're able to pick an additional talent on a tier. You must pick a bonus tier 1 talent before you can pick a bonus tier 2 or tier 3 talent, etc. Bonus Talents cannot be used to pick a second ult. In theory Goldtooth could gain access to almost every talent in his tree if he gathers enough Gold Ore.

Combat Trait

Candle
Toggle to turn your Candle On or Off.

On: Normal vision radius.

Off: Vision radius removed completely.


While Goldtooth is not within an allied vision radius he gains In The Dark status, empowering his abilities and allowing him to see Gold Veins.

3 second cooldown.

Primary Abilities

Pilferin' Pick-Axe
Channel to swing your pick-axe up and down, damaging enemies you hit and reducing your movement speed by 25%.

Lasts up to 3 seconds. 9 second cooldown.

While In The Dark Pilferin' Pick-Axe can be used on Gold Veins to mine Gold Ore.

Gold Veins drop 1 Gold Ore. Gain 1 Bonus Talent for every 10 Gold Ore you gather.

Fungal Spore
Throw a Fungal Spore at the target location that damages enemies it hits.

Fungal Spores that don't hit an enemy are planted at the target location, growing in size over 30 seconds.


Enemies that walk over a planted Fungal Spore take damage over 5 seconds that increases based on the size of the Fungal Spore.

Fungal Spores planted while In The Dark grow 100% faster.

3 charges. 30 second cooldown.

Fungal Spores can only be destroyed by walking over them.

Warren Wall
Activate to place a line of dirt at the target location, slowing the first enemy hero that moves through it by 60%, decaying over 2 seconds.

Lasts 30 seconds. 15 second cooldown.

Warren Walls placed while In The Dark are 100% wider and last twice as long.

Heroic Abilities

The Darkness
Activate to gradually shrink the vision radius of all enemy heroes over 3 seconds. Lasts 3 seconds after reaching total darkness.

In addition, enemies affected by The Darkness lose 5 Armor each second.


100 second cooldown. Global range.

Passive: The cooldown of The Darkness refreshes 100% faster while In The Dark.

Gold Crush
After a brief channel, encase an enemy hero in Gold, slowing their movement speed by 60%, decaying over 1 second.

Enemy heroes killed while affected by Gold Crush drop 2 Gold Ore.


50 second cooldown.

Passive: The duration of Gold Crush is increased by 0.1 seconds for each Gold Ore you've picked up.

Special Mount

Scurry
Activate to dash in the target direction, gaining 40% movement speed for 2 seconds.

Colliding with terrain while Scurrying refreshes the effect and causes you to ricochet off of the terrain.

45 second cooldown.

Talents

Level 1:
Beady Little Eyes: Candle has no cooldown. (Quest:) Spend 120 seconds In The Dark.
(Reward:) Gain Night Vision, granting you a large blue-tinted vision radius while In The Dark.
Non-Picky Pick-Axe: Pilferin' Pick-Axe now swings in an arc, damaging multiple enemies.
Pinball Whiskers: The cooldown of Scurry is reduced by 5 seconds each time you ricochet off of terrain.

Level 4:
Spooky Shadows: Increase your health regeneration by 100% while your Candle is on, and gain 20 Armor while In The Dark.
Jackhammer: Hitting an enemy hero with Pilferin' Pick-Axe increases your movement speed by 5% for 5 seconds.
Fun Fungi: Hitting an enemy hero with a thrown Fungal Spore reduces its cooldown to 6 seconds.
Rat Race: Gain 40 Armor while Scurrying.

Level 7:
Black Lung: Permanently reduce your maximum health by 15%, but cause Gold Veins to now drop 2 Gold Ore.
Mudstompers: Warren Walls increase allied heroes movement speed by 20% for 3 seconds. This does not consume the wall.
Cave In: Warren Wall's slow is applied to all nearby enemies and it no longer fades.

Level 10:
See above section.

Level 13:
Mind Fungus: Enemies that walk over a planted Fungal Spore have their Spell Power reduced by 25%-50% (based on size of the spore) for 5 seconds.
Den Of Evil: Warren Wall gains a charge.
Unearthed: Triggered Warren Walls spawn a Gold Vein.

Level 16:
Pilferin' Pockets: Every 6th hit against the same enemy hero with Pilferin' Pick-Axe causes them to drop a Gold Ore.
Rot Garden: Enemies heroes killed while under the effect of Fungal Spore plant an untalented Fungal Spore at their location.
Pollen Poppers: Allied heroes that walk over a planted Fungal Spore are healed for a moderate amount over 5 seconds. Fungal Spores stepped on by allies are not consumed, but shrink in size for 5 seconds.

Level 20:
Perfect Dark: The Darkness now causes enemies to immediately lose all vision, and their total vision loss lasts for 6 seconds.
Next Of Kin: Enemies killed while under the effect of Gold Crush apply Gold Crush to their nearby allies.
Snuffed Out: Permanently reduce all enemy heroes' vision radius by 5% for each Bonus Talent you've acquired, to a maximum reduction of 25%.
Kobold Katacombs: Warren Walls are now permanent, refreshing 20 seconds after being activated.

A damn good concept, good job! Abilities and talents fit really well with the kobold lore. I assume Gold Veins spawn randomly across the map (mostly between lanes) and you try to mine as many as you can.
The only thing I find excessive is the level 20 talent Snuffed Out - you already have The Darkness and its upgrade Perfect Dark.
If you go for The Darkness + Snuffed Out - The Darkness won't be as effective since you already reduced enemy vision with Snuffed Out.
If you go for Gold Crush + Snuffed Out - it feels as if you have a weaker version of The Darkness. Almost as if you have 2 heroics.
Now Alarak can pick both, so I guess it can work. However, I think that it is overshadowed by other talents in the tier so (if Goldtooth were in the game) I doubt anyone would pick Snuffed Out over others - but thats just my opinion!
Overall a great concept!
