Gui Montag is a bruiser through and through, honestly more like a multiclass if anything. His sustain is remarkable and can be pretty durable, and can also deal a ton of AoE damage if managed well, while being a bad target for autoattackers since they take a lot of damage back. His crowd control isn't very good at all but he's pretty bulky and can function well as an off-tank, and since enemies will be conflicted about focusing you due to your damage reflection it makes thing more interesting. He fits in great as a second warrior to provide more AoE damage, especially against basic attack heavy teams.
Managing your heat is critical, since even though you have a lot of heath if you don't use your abilities properly you will take increased damage, which is a good tactic if you're looking to deal more damage when the enemy can't focus you as much but will destroy you if you get focused and your only mobility is movement speed boosts. Don't worry too much though, becuase if you do get focused your heat will disappear quickly giving you your armor back, which is good if you don't want to die but bad if you want to deal damage. Bear in mind that taking more damage does not increase the damage reflected, and also your effective health pool is still higher than most assassins.
Flamethrower can be nice as a single-target damage tool as well since it increases your basic attack range but it's better used for its AoE cleaving it provides. Blaze is your only source of durability, and although the health regen isn't incredible it's still quite nice to have, and the lifesteal is amazing especially combined with Flamethrower. Vent can cover a large area and can deal a lot of AoE damage so is fantastic for fleeing or chasing, though be careful about using it on conjunction with other abilities unless you're looking to go into critical heat levels. Also do remember that if you're trying to juke enemies you don't want to leave behind a nice trail to follow. Juggernaut is good if you're looking to just deal more damage especially against autoattackers by hitting high heat quickly and with an active damage burst, while Inferno gives minor durability with a strong attack boost and better utility. Both heroics are offensive-based but low-cooldown.
Turning the abilities on and off at important times can let you maintain low heat levels which is a good idea if you're looking to stay alive, because if you're trying to stay alive it's not great to enter the danger zone and just die quicker. Also if fleeing for your life it's a good idea not to have the offensive abilities active for no reason obviously. On the other hand if you're just in a 1v1 then being clever about how you maintain your levels can help a lot, such as holding off on entering critical until they flee in which you can try and burn them down, but be aware that they could turn around and kill you if you're too aggressive. Also if you're in a teamfight then entering critical can sway the fight in your favor by greatly amplifying your damage output, and if the enemy tried hitting you they will take a lot of damage in return. Montag basically has 2 modes; a more durable and more passive low heat state, and a berserk damage dealing mode that's easier to kill.
