Archangel of Valor

Ruler of the Angiris Council. Imperius has led the Heavenly Host to numerous victories over the Demonic Legion, but his pride and rashness has often caused recklessness that would ultimately cost him.

Combat Trait

Spearheading
Passive:

Imperius leaves behind a holy tailwind as he moves that grants all allies in a cone behind him 10% increased movement speed.

This bonus is doubled for 3 seconds after:
    Passing through allied gates

    After Imperius is involved in a hero kill

    After capturing an objective

Archangel Rage
Passive

Basic attacks against the same enemy steals 1% current health and 1% movement speed. The bonus decays completely after 2 seconds of not attacking, or when switching targets. 10% as effective against minions.

Primary Abilities

Armed with Wings
Cooldown: 6 Seconds
Cost: 20 mana

Take flight and vanish for 0.25 seconds then appear a short distance of your choosing and immediately basic attack the closest enemy in a small radius prioritizing heroes.

Gilded Plate
Cooldown: 12 seconds
Cost: 60 mana

For the next 3 seconds, every single instance of damage that deals more than 10% of Imperius's maximum health is reduced by half.

Solarion
Cooldown: 6 Seconds
Cost: 60 mana

Thrust your holy spear Solarion in a short line dealing (155+4% per level) damage. The first enemy hero struck are impaled and stunned for 1 second.

Heroic Abilities

Holy Blaze
Cooldown: 60 seconds

Cost: 80 mana

Channel for one second, then fire off an immense storm of holy fire in a large cone in front of you that deals 1470 (490 + 4% per level) damage over 3 seconds. If an enemy hero is killed during Holy Blaze, the duration refreshes at 3 seconds and increases its range independently by 15% per second.

The Diamond Gates
Cooldown: 100 seconds

Cost: 80 mana


Channel for one second, then summon a Diamond Gate for 12 seconds. Allies can pass through the gate portion, while enemies will need to destroy the walls or gate to pass.

Special Mount

Holy Descent
Cooldown: 60 seconds

Imperius ascends into the air, then after a 4 second delay he dives down sending a burst of holy energy out in his wake dealing 50% of enemy minions health.

Enemy heroes caught in the blast are dismounted and slowed by 20% for 2 seconds.

TALENTS

Tier 1 - Level 1


    D - Archangel Rage - Endless Wrath - Quest: Basic attacking the same enemy hero grants 5% attack speed. Upon attacking the same hero with 5 consecutive basic attacks, Imperius gains a charge of Wrath permanently. When Imperius reaches 3 stacks of Wrath, he permanently gains 10% attack speed and can gain no more Wrath.

    W - Gilded Plate - Fearless Angel - Imperius becomes immune to Silences and Fears. Activating Gilded Plate removes all stuns, roots and slows from Imperius.

    W - Gilded Plate - Shining Aegis - After 6 seconds of not taking damage, Imperius gains a shield equal to 8% of his maximum health and 1 instance of Block.

    E - Solarion - Holy Fire - Impaling any foe will cause Solarion to shoot holy fire in a cone dealing 160 (40 + 4% per level) damage over 4 seconds. This deals 50% additional damage to minions.

Tier 2 - Level 4


    Q - Armed With Wings - Icarus Glide - If Armed with Wings's basic attack hits en enemy hero, it's cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds. Basic attacks reduce the cooldown of Armed with Wings by 1 second.

    W - Gilded Plate - Front Line Sacrifice - When activated, 10% of the damage allies take in the "Spearheading" cone behind Imperius, are absorbed then dealt to Imperius at the end of Gilded Plate's duration.

    E - Solarion - Determined Lunge - Impaling an enemy with Solarion will bring the impaled enemy and Imperius a short distance forward. If the enemy collides with a wall, they are stunned for 0.5 seconds and Solarion can be cast again within 1 second before the ability goes on standard cooldown.

Tier 3 - Level 7


    Q - Armed With Wings - Holy Trail - Using Armed With Wings activates Spearheading.

    W - Gilded Plate - Immortal Armor - Gilded Plate's duration is increased to 6 seconds.

    D - Archangel Rage - Searing Rage - Activate to double the effectiveness of Archangel Rage for 5 seconds. Each attack costs 15 Mana

    Follow Through - After using an Ability, your next Basic Attack within 6 seconds deals 40% additional damage.

Tier 4 - Level 10

Tier 5 - Level 13


    D - Spearheading - Relentless Pursuit - Crossing through fallen gates (both allies and enemies) also activates the double bonus for Spearheading.

    D - Cleaving Demons - All basic attacks cleave enemies in a 160 degree cone centered on Imperius's primary target. These basic attacks do not deal any additional damage nor have any additional effects outside Imperius's standard attack damage.

    W - Gilded Plate - Reigning Guise - Activating Gilded Plate causes basic attacks against you to deal 25% of the damage back to the enemy (before damage reduction).

    Burning Rage - Deal 23 damage per second to nearby enemies.

Tier 6 - Level 16


    Q - Armed With Wings - Wing Span - Increases the dash range of Armed With Wings by 50%

    E - Solarion - Star Forged - Increases the range of Solarion by 50% and can hit multiple enemies.

    E - Solarion - Personal Slay - Solarion becomes a short ranged targeted ability and makes the target vulnerable causing them to take 25% extra damage from you alone. Allies and enemies are knocked back a short distance.

    Blood for Blood - Activate to deal 10% of target enemy Hero's Max Health and heal for twice that amount.

Tier 7 - Level 20


    R - Holy Blaze - Purify the Demons - Holy Blaze's damage is increased by 100% against targets under 30% health and the range increase on kill is increased to 30%.

    R - The Diamond Gates - High Heaven - The Diamond Gates also spawns two turrets that shoot and slow enemy attack and movement speed by 30% on hit.

    Q - Armed With Wings - Valor - Armed With Wings has a 1 second cooldown

    E - Solarion - Demon Slayer - Executes enemy heroes hit that are under 12% health and refreshes on kill.

Author's notes and explanations

Hi all,

I've been a big fan of Imperius since his actions, cinematic, and in-game reveals from Diablo III. I like how he is the first to rush into battle, is hot headed, yet by far the strongest and of course leader of the Archangels.

With his star-forged Spear Solarion, gilded golden plate armor, and holy fire all over the place, my goal was to make Imperius one to dive first head on into battle with enough tankiness to survive, damage to be a threat, and a reason to lead the charge to help his allies win the war.

You can opt for really, 3 builds and anywhere in between. Mainly,

    A mobile fighting build that revolves around dashes and stutter stepping your basic attacks.

    A tanky front liner who absorbs damage for his team and can take a beating

    A wave clearing ganker who excels are locking down a foe and later executing them.

Imperius does not use mounts. He flies, just like in Diablo III. Similar to Falstad, but on a much longer cooldown, Imperius can instead cover a large distance across the battlefield and clear waves or gank.
