Guide of the Nordic

A towering viking, Joltar has imbued the spirit of Jormungandr into his tomahawk. Joltar is thought to be one of the last remaining of his clan, aiming to break through the Gates of Valhalla.

Combat Trait

Brutal Tomahawk
Cooldown: 5s

Joltar's third Basic Attack causes him to throw his tomahawk in a straight line, dealing 63 (+4% per level) damage to each enemy it passes through & returning. If the tomahawk hits any enemy Heroes on its return, it deals 67 (+4% per level) damage over 4 seconds, hitting through the enemy's Armor.

If Joltar throws the tomahawk into terrain, it will not return for 3 seconds and he loses access to his Basic Attacks. Joltar can activate this Trait to teleport to his tomahawk and retrieve it.

Primary Abilities

Earthbreaker Cleave
Cooldown: 8s

Joltar channels for .75 seconds, charging his tomahawk with the sheer power of the lightning. Joltar then has 2 seconds to choose what direction to perform the following: Joltar slams his infused tomahawk into the ground, sending forth a shockwave of broken earth in a straight line. Enemies hit take 81 (+4% per level) damage and are Slowed by 35% for 2 seconds. After 1 second, a wave of lightning crackles on the shockwave, Stunning enemy Heroes hit for 1 second.

If an enemy Hero is hit by the Stun, Joltar can reactivate this within 2 seconds to detonate the shockwave, Knocking Up any nearby enemy Heroes for .75 seconds & Joltar gains a Shield equal to 15% of his Maximum Health for 2 seconds.

Phantasmal Spirit
Cooldown: 6s
Can only be used while the tomahawk is mid-air

Joltar turns into a bolt of energy and dashes forth to his tomahawk in mid air, instantly grabbing it, dealing 66 (+4% per level) damage in an area & Stunning enemy Heroes hit for 1 second. If Joltar hits an enemy Hero with this ability, he instantly resets this ability's cooldown & he gains a Shield equal to 7.5% of his Maximum Health for each enemy Hero hit for 4 seconds.

Spirit of Thunder
Cooldown: 7s

Joltar enters a stance for up to 3 seconds. During this time, he moves at 60% Movement Speed. If an enemy Hero's Basic Attack or damaging ability hits Joltar whilst he's in this stance, the stance will break & Joltar launches his spirit of energy at the target, dealing 71 (+4% per level) damage & applying Bone Shock to the target for 3 seconds.

Bone Shock: Joltar can reactivate this ability within 3 seconds to teleport to the enemy affected with Bone Shock, Stunning them for .75 seconds on arrival & reducing their Armor by 10 for 3 seconds.

Spirit Elixir
Cooldown: 45s

Joltar drinks his Spirit Elixir, healing 20% of his Maximum Health over 4 seconds & gaining a Shield equal to 25% of his Maximum Health for the duration.

Copy Cat!
Cooldown: 45s

Joltar grants an exact copy of his Shield to a target allied Hero for 4 seconds. While the Shield persists, allied Heroes gain 10 bonus Armor.

Bury Me In The Sky
Cooldown: 20s

Joltar charges a short distance forward & swings his tomahawk heavily upward, dealing 93 (+4% per level) damage to the first enemy Hero hit and Knocking Up for 2 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

Hammer of Horizon
Cooldown: 70s

Joltar channels for 1 second, afterwards leaping into the air a total of 3 times with a large hammer created from the energy of the Gods. The first leap deals 71 (+4% per level) damage & Slows enemies hit by 30% for 3 seconds. The second leap deals 55 (+4% per level) damage & creates a damaging rift dealing 33 (+4% per level) damage each second under him and the final leap deals 107 (+4% per level) damage in a large area, Rooting enemies hit for 1 second & reducing Armor by 10 for 3 seconds.

Refresh The Blood
Cooldown: 30s

Joltar ignites his soul within with millions of electrodes. His next 3 Basic Attacks instantly become Brutal Tomahawk attacks, stacking the Damage Over Time (up to 3 times over 12 seconds) and each successive Basic Attack in a row deals 10% increased damage from the last, and grants Joltar a Shield equal to 15% of the damage dealt for 3 seconds.

Level 1

Short Handed Brutality (Brutal Tomahawk)
Brutal Tomahawk's range is reduced by 15%, but deals 20% increased damage.

Return Rifts (Earthbreaker Cleave)
A smaller rift returns to Joltar after the initial shockwave, stopping on the first enemy Hero hit and dealing 41 (+4% per level) damage & reducing Armor by 5 for 4 seconds.

Ghastly (Phantasmal Spirit)
! Quest: Gain a shield equal to 22.5% of Joltar's health with Phantasmal Spirit.
Reward: Enemies Stunned by Joltar take 25% increased damage for the duration.

Level 4

Brittle Bones (Spirit of Thunder)
Enemies affected by Bone Shock take 15% increased damage from the next Basic Attack to hit them while they have Bone Shock.

Energy Overflow (Passive)
While Joltar is affected by a Shield, he has 25% increased Movement Speed.

Shards of Blade (Brutal Tomahawk)
Brutal Tomahawk deals 75% damage in a small area. If Brutal Tomahawk kills an enemy Hero, it instead deals 150% damage to nearby enemies.

Level 7

Truly Nimble (Phantasmal Spirit)
If Joltar hits an enemy Hero with Phantasmal Spirit, he gains the ability to leap to a nearby area and deal 53 (+4% per level) damage in a small radius.

Lost The Weight (Brutal Tomahawk)
While Joltar doesn't have his tomahawk, he has 50% increased Movement Speed and 20% Cooldown Reduction.

Asunder (Earthbreaker Cleave)
Enemies hit by the detonation of Earthbreaker Cleave are hit as if they're missing 20 Armor.

Level 13

Link Of Storms (Spirit of Thunder)
If an enemy Hero is affected with Bone Shock, they will spread it to nearby enemy Heroes for the duration. Linked enemy Heroes spread taken damage 25% amongst themselves.

Spirit Elixir (Active)
Joltar drinks his Spirit Elixir, regenerating 20% Maximum Health over 4 seconds & gaining a Shield equal to 25% of his Maximum Health for the duration.

Rite to Valhalla (Passive)
! Quest: Over the entire course of the game (even before you got this), absorb 150,000 damage with Shields.
Reward: Joltar's Respawn Time is reduced by 25%. His damage is reduced by 15%, but he gains 15% additional Shielding.

Level 16

Copy Cat! (Active)
Give a nearby allied Hero an exact copy of Joltar's current Shield with a 4 second duration. While the Shield persists, they have 10 bonus Armor.

Guardian Tomahawk (Brutal Tomahawk)
Enemy Heroes hit by Joltar's Brutal Tomahawk grant him a Shield equal to 4.5% of his Maximum Health for 5 seconds. (Only the passive, not the ultimate. % is reduced by .5% for EACH enemy Hero hit.)

Unfair (Passive)
Joltar hits through enemy Shields.

Level 20

Broken Dawn (Hammer of Horizon)
Hammer of Horizon deals 25% increased damage. Each strike grants Joltar a Shield equal to 12% of the damage dealt for 3 seconds.

Blood for the Blood God! (Refresh the Blood)
Hitting an enemy Hero with a Brutal Tomahawk from this ability grants Joltar an additional Brutal Tomahawk, up to 3 additional.

Viking's Sap (Passive)
Joltar gains a Shield each time he deals damage for 4 seconds, equal to 2% of damage dealt. This bonus increases to 10% if damaging disabled Heroes.

Bury Me In The Sky (Active)
Joltar charges forward and heavily swings his tomahawk upwards, dealing damage & Knocking Up his target for 2 seconds.
