Kael'Thas

Rework Proposal

Trying to fix some skill expression and frustration issues from Living Bomb and Pyroblast while offering some more build diversity.

Combat Trait

1
Verdant Spheres
Cooldown: 6 seconds

Activate to make your next Basic Ability more powerful.

Primary Abilities

1
FlameStrike
70 Mana Cooldown: 7 seconds

After 1 second, deal 345 damage in an area.

Verdant Spheres increases the radius by 50%.
2
Living Bomb
50 Mana Cooldown: 10 seconds

Deal 126 damage over 3 seconds to an enemy, then they explode dealing 215 damage to all nearby enemies. Other Heroes damaged by this explosion are also affected by Living Bomb (up to 2, based on the closest for the explosion), though the secondary explosions cannot spread.

Verdant Spheres makes this Ability cost no Mana and have no cooldown.

Drastically limit the potential of the ability at lower level
3
Gravity Lapse
90 Mana Cooldown: 12 seconds

Stun the first enemy hit for 1 seconds.

Verdant Spheres causes Gravity Lapse to stun the first 3 enemies hit and increases the stun duration to 1,5 second.

Heroic Abilities

1
Phoenix
80 Mana Cooldown: 60 seconds

Launch a Phoenix to an area, dealing 84 damage to enemies along the way. The Phoenix persists for 7 seconds, attacking enemies for 84 damage and splashing for 42 damage.

Can be reactivated to guide the focus of the attacks.
2
Pyroblast
80 Mana Cooldown: 100 seconds

After 1.5 seconds, cast a fireball that deals 75% of Kael'Thas total heroic damages dealt for the last 12 seconds to an enemy Hero and 50% of theses damage to enemies nearby.

No more flat damages but an amount depending of you last combo or two last poke spell rotation to add spell expression. Faster initial missile speed.

Talents

Level 1:
-Mana addict: Unchanged

-Convection: ? Quest: Damaging an enemy Hero with Flamestrike increases its damage by 5, up to 100. This bonus is lost on death.

? Reward: After hitting 20 enemy Heroes, increase Flamestrike damage by an additional 100 and no longer lose any bonuses on death.
? Gambit: Reduces Flamestrike mana cost by 25 mana, each death increases it's cost by 5 mana up to 5 times.

-Sunfire Enchantment: Activating Verdant Spheres causes Kael'thas's next 2 Basic Attacks to instead deal 115 Spell Damage and bring him back 1,5% of it's maximum health and mana, tripled against heroes.
If both of them hit enemy Heroes, gain 15% Spell Power for 10 seconds.

Level 4
-Nether Wind : Unchanged

-Energy Roil: Unchanged

-Tri-O : Reduces Verdant Sphere cooldown by 2 seconds for each enemy hero hit by Gravity Lapse

Level 7
-Burned Flesh: Unchanged

-Sun King's Fury: Gain 1 meter attack range. Hitting an enemy hero with any abilitie cause Kael'Thas's next Basic Attack within 6 seconds to deal an additional 75 Spell Damage. Stores up to 2 charges.

-Arcane Dynamic: Cast a basic ability and hit at least one enemy hero with it increases spell power by 3% for 5 seconds, up to 15%.

Level 13

-Pyromaniac: Unchanged

-Backdraft : Living Bomb's explosion Slows enemy Movement Speed by 40% for 1,5 second.

-Fission Bomb: Basic attacking an enemy hero carrying a Living Bomb makes it explode 0,75 second earlier and deal the corresponding periodic damage as bonus magic damage.

Level 16

-Fury of the Sunwell : Unchanged

-Ignite : Unchanged

-Twin Spheres : Unchanged

Level 20

-Rebirth : Increases Phoenix duration to 12 second and attack range by 25%. Kael'Thas and Phoenix's basic attacks on heroes reduces Phoenix cooldown by 3 seconds.

-Presence Of Mind: Unchanged

-Flamethrower : Unchanged

-Gravitic Pulses : Gravity Lapse reduces enemy heroes' armor by 25 for 3 seconds

Intention

Making tweaks on Kael'Thas talents and abitilies to fix two main issues:

-Pyroblast and Living Bomb are two spells that offers too little skill expression which makes them create comical yet frustrating situations at lower ranks while being of little use outside PvE at higher ranks.
-Many talent in Kael'Thas tree can be weak, not stimulating to play or empowering the worst aspects of the hero at lesser ranks.

Thus my guiding ideas here where:
-Removing any Living Bomb talents outside of the dedicated level 13. And make sure they add skill expression without potential noob-banes
-Adding a spread limit: only 2 heroes can now receive a spread bomb. This is unnoticeable at higher ranks while limiting the havoc potential of the spell at lesser ranks.

-Add (a little) skill and counterplay to pyroblast as it's damages now depends on your recent ability damages output: you now need to time it well and your enemies can avoid your other damages sources while it is still a decent cherry on the top of a poke build and playstyle.
-Tweaked the Phoenix to feel a bit more active and synergizing with my next point.

-Creating a cheesy autoattack build.
-Reviving some old talent and paying attention on the possibility to create many hybrid builds.
-Changing level 1 talents, Convection is still a gamble but it doesn't ruin your mana earlygame anymore while 1/4/7 D talents where fused into something more active and original.

I'm open on any remarks, suggestions and review.
