Kael'thas Soft Rework (2025)

My Suggestions

While Kael'thas has a decent kit, he performs rather poorly, and his build variety is in dire need of help.
The goal of this rework is to make the Sun King more reliable and interesting in terms of builds.

Note
This concept used to be completely different. As of 23/07/2025, it has been changed significantly.

Stats
Health increased from 1595 to 1608
Health Regen increased from 3.3164 to 3.35

Addiction to Magic (New Trait)

❢Quest: Gathering a Regeneration Globe permanently increases Kael'thas's maximum Mana by 10.

Primary Abilities

Flamestrike (Q)

Verdant Spheres now grants 25% bonus cast range and radius instead of 50% bonus radius only

NEW WORDING:
Cast for 0.25 seconds to conjure a pillar of fire in an area that explodes after a 1 second delay, dealing 345 damage to enemies within.

Verdant Spheres increases the cast range and radius by 25%.

Wording now mentions both the cast time and the delay.

Gravity Lapse (E)

Range increased from 9.5 to 10

NEW WORDING:
Unleash a gravity-warping wind in a line that passes through terrain and Stuns the first non-Structure enemy hit for 1 second.

Verdant Spheres increases the Stun duration by 50% and the amount of enemies hit by 2.

Attack Range increased from 5.75 to 6
Duration decreased from 7 to 6 seconds

Cooldown reduced from 100 to 60 seconds

Primary damage decreased from 810 to 800
Area damage decreased from 405 to 400
Damage scaling decreased from 5% to 4%

LEVEL 1

Convection (Reworked)
❢Quest: Hit 20 enemy Heroes with Flamestrike. Heroes who are Slowed or Stunned count as two.
❢Reward: Increase its damage by 25% and Verdant Spheres now increases the radius by 50% instead of 25%.

Gravity Crush (New?)
Heroes hit by Gravity Lapse take 84 damage upon landing unless the Stun is removed.
Verdant Spheres increases this damage by 50%.

Fel Infusion (Reworked)
Increase Kael'thas's Spell Power by 5%.
Activating Verdant Spheres increases this bonus to 10% while active and for 3 seconds after.

LEVEL 4

Burned Flesh (Moved from Level 7)(Reworked)
Heroes hit by Flamestrike receive 30% less healing for 2 seconds and take bonus damage equal to 3% of their maximum Health.

Sunfire Enchantment (Moved from Level 7)(Reworked)
Activating Verdant Spheres grants Kael'thas 1 Attack Range and causes his Basic Attacks to deal Spell Damage.
Lasts 6 seconds. Subsequent applications refresh the duration.

Addiction to Mana (New)
Regeneration Globes restore 25% more Mana to Kael'thas.
❢Quest: Gather 20 Regeneration Globes, including those gathered so far.
❢Reward: Increase Kael'thas's Mana Regeneration by 2 per second.

LEVEL 7

Backdraft (Moved from Level 13)(Reworked)
Living Bomb's periodic damage heals Kael'thas for 50% of the damage dealt.
Living Bomb's explosion Slows enemies hit by 25% for 2 seconds.

Mana Tap (Moved from Level 4)(Reworked)
Activating Verdant Spheres restores 10% of Kael'thas's maximum Mana.
Passive: Every Regeneration Globe gathered grants an additional 5 maximum Mana.

Arcane Barrier (New)
Cooldown: 50 seconds
Activate to gain a Shield equal to 100% of Kael'thas's maximum Mana for 5 seconds.

LEVEL 13

Sun King's Fury (Moved from Level 7)(Reworked)
Increase Living Bomb's explosion radius by 15%.
Living Bombs that spread to enemy Heroes deal 30% more damage.

Nether Wind (Moved from Level 4)(Reworked)
Increase Gravity Lapse's range by 20% and reduce its cooldown by 3 seconds.
If Gravity Lapse hits a Hero, reduce its cooldown by an additional 3 seconds and refund 60 Mana.

True Power (New)
❢Quest: Every Regeneration Globe gathered increases Kael'thas's Attack Damage and Spell Power by 1%, stacking up to 20%.

LEVEL 16

Master of Flames
Moved from Level 20.

Pyromaniac
Moved from Level 13.

Twin Spheres
Unchanged.

LEVEL 20

Rebirth (Reworked)
When the Phoenix expires for the first time, it explodes after 1 second instead, dealing 126 damage to nearby enemies and refreshing its duration, and may be ordered to move to a different location.
Explosion Radius: 6

Presence Of Mind
Unchanged.

Flamethrower (Reworked)
When Flamestrike hits 2 or more enemy Heroes at once, its cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds.
Verdant Spheres now increases the cast range of Flamestrike by 50% instead of 25%.

Ignite (Moved from Level 16)(Reworked)
Flamestrike applies Living Bomb to all enemy Heroes hit who are not currently affected by Living Bomb.
