Khalai Phase-Smith

A versatile Hero, Karax can choose from a wide array of unique structures and unleash powerful attacks from the Spear of Adun using the power of his Pylon's Power Fields.

Combat Trait

Warp in Pylon (D)
Charge Cooldown: 25 Seconds

Constructs a Pylon over 10 seconds that supplies an area around it with Pylon Power, allowing Karax to use his abilities. Stores 2 charges. Lasts until destroyed.
Quoted:
Pylons are KEY to using Karax! Especially if you're using one of the buildings!

Primary Abilities

Solar Lance (Q)
Charge Cooldown: 12 seconds

Vector Targeting

After a short delay, sweep an area with a beam along a line, dealing 200 damage per second for 2 seconds. Charges recharge three times as fast while Karax is standing in an area with pylon power. Stores 3 charges.

Warp in Sentinels (W)
Cooldown: 12 seconds

Summons a pair of Sentinels over 3 seconds at a location with Pylon Power. Sentinels will follow and defend Karax until they enter a lane and last until killed.

Khaydarin Monolith (E)
Cooldown: 40 seconds

Constructs a Khaydarin Monolith over 15 seconds at a location with Pylon Power that attacks every 2 seconds for 300 damage while supplied with Pylon Power and lasts until destroyed.

Warp Conduit (E)
Cooldown: 30 seconds

Constructs a Warp Conduit over 10 seconds at a location with Pylon Power that can be used by Karax or an allied Hero to teleport to Karax's other Warp Conduit. Warp Conduits last until destroyed and only function while both conduits are supplied with Pylon Power. Maximum of 2 Warp Conduits at a time.
Quoted:
Deploying a third warp conduit destroys the first while keeping the second.

Shield Battery (E)
Cooldown: 30 seconds

Constructs a Shield Battery over 10 seconds at a location with Pylon Power that grants allies that come near it with a 100 health shield while it is supplied with Pylon Power. An ally can't gain shields from a Shield Battery within 10 seconds of gaining the previous shield.
Quoted:
Consecutive shields refresh the previous one immediately and do not stack with other Shield Battery shields.

Orbital Strike (E)
Charge Cooldown: 3 seconds

After a short delay, deal 75 damage to enemies in the target area. Long Range. Stores 5 charges.
Quoted:
Would act similar to Sylvanas's Withering Fire, so using Quick Cast would vastly improve performance.

Heroic Abilities

Chrono Boost (R)
Passive: Karax's buildings construct in 20% less time and have 20% shorter cooldowns.
Quoted:
This does not affect the level 7 "Warp in Probe" talent.


Cooldown: 60 seconds

Increase the construction speed bonus to 80% for 10 seconds.
Quoted:
This would allow for more aggressive play of the Khaydarin Monolith by allowing Karax to rapidly construct the monolith before or even during a team fight.

Solar Bombardment (R)
Cooldown: 80 seconds

Randomly bombards an area over 5 seconds with 200 shots that each land to deal 20 damage in a small area.
Quoted:
This would act similarly to Gul'dan's "Rain of Destruction" heroic, but would cover half as wide of an area to compensate for the fact that each shot has a much smaller AoE.

Chooses an (E) ability to use, much like Kharazim's level 1 talents that choose his trait.

Advanced Shields (Quest)

Quoted:
Requires Shield Battery


Quest: Every 1000 damage you absorb with Shield Battery gives all of Karax's shields the ability to regenerate at 1 health per second after not taking damage for 3 seconds, up to 10 health per second.

Reward: After absorbing a total of 10,000 damage with Shield Battery, Karax gains a permanent shield equal to 10% of his maximum health that has this same regeneration property.
Quoted:
10,000 shouldn't be too much because a shield battery would be able to provide shields to lane minions that walk by.


Warp Harmonization (Quest)



Quest: Warp in 30 Sentinels without dying.

Reward: Warp in Sentinels now summons a single massive Colossus that wields twin Solar Lances for an area attack.
Quoted:
Summoning massive Colossi in Heroes of the Storm just has to be a thing, and it will allow Karax to have increased team fight potential along with granting him a powerful laning tool.


Orbital Enhancement



Solar Lance and Orbital Strike have 20% increased cast range.

Warp Out (Active)



After a 3 second delay, Karax teleports to the target area that is supplied with Pylon Power.
Quoted:
Would be similar to Gul'dan's "Demonic Circle" talent. Karax would appear to be fading out in a fashion reminiscent of a troop warping in.

Level 7 Talents (Pylon Talents)

Warp in Probe (Active)



Cooldown: 30 seconds

Summon a Probe over 3 seconds that can build the same buildings that Karax can and also repair them. Reactivating this while you have a Probe will instead select the Probe.
Quoted:
The Probe has its own separate ability bar like Abathur's "Symbiote" or transforming into the Dragon Knight. While selecting the Probe this becomes "Select Karax".


Photon Overcharge (Active)



Charge Cooldown: 25 seconds

Energizes the target Pylon, granting it a long range attack of 80 damage per second for 10 seconds. Stores 2 charges.
Quoted:
Allows for either aggressive or defensive play from Karax centered around his Pylons.


Dark Pylon



Warp in Pylons now constructs Dark Pylons that have Stealth and grant allied Heroes within their Power Field stealth if they stay out of combat for 3 seconds.
Quoted:
This can allow for some crazy surprise attacks by Karax. The Dark Pylon would be visible while constructing and should be easy to find (i.e. there is a stealthed Hero nearby or a structure that appears to be operating without a Power Field.


"You Must Construct Additional Pylons" (Quest)



Quest: Have 15 active Pylons at once.

Reward: Warp in Pylon's cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds and its construction time is reduced to 5 seconds. Additionally, Karax gains 20% increased Ability Power while he stands in a Power Field.
Quoted:
Memes of the Storm, YE! This is a versatile talent, allowing Karax to gain in Ability Power should he desire an Assassin build and at the same time, makes Pylon reliant abilities easier to enable or empower.

Level 13 Talents (Solar Lance Talents)

Scorched Earth



Solar Lance and Orbital Strike now set the ground on fire for 2 seconds, dealing an additional 50 damage per second to enemies within.

Solar Efficiency



Solar Lance now sweeps across a 100% longer area.

Void Lance



Solar Lance and Orbital Strike now cast instantly and their area of effect is no longer visible to the enemy team.
Quoted:
This could make Karax into a threatening sniper such as Chromie. Remember that Solar Lance and Orbital Strike have a slight delay between casts (Like Sylvanas's "Withering Fire"), so there won't be any instant 1000 damage burst from the sky.


Solar Convergence



Solar Lance now creates two beams that spiral in toward the target location over 2 seconds dealing 50% increased damage and fire a blast when merging that deals an additional 300 damage, but doubles Solar Lance's cooldown and removes all charges.
Quoted:
Space lasers making crazy patterns was inevitable, so this is it! The AoE would be the size of a Sgt. Hammer attack range.

Level 16 Talents (PvP Talents)

Swift Retribution



Warp in Sentinels gains an additional charge and now summons the troops instantly.

Warp Prison (Active)



Cooldown: 30 seconds

Activate to cause a Pylon to block all units from moving through the edge of its Power Field for 3 seconds.
Quoted:
Locking enemies in the Pylon's Power Field like a Sonya's Crater can be used as a getaway or a chase quite excellently.


Khaydarin Resilience



Power Fields now grant Karax and allied Heroes Resistant, reducing incoming damage by 25%.

Resonating Crystal



Pylons now deal 30 damage per second to enemies within their Power Field.
Quoted:
These last two talents would offer simple, yet effective impacts on team fights, but "Resonating Crystal" would also be able to be used as a laning tool.

Dark Pylon would be revealed to the enemy while it is dealing damage and for 3 seconds after stopping (i.e. in combat).

Level 20 Talents (Unique Super Talents)

Chrono Overload (Heroic Upgrade)



Chrono Boost causes Karax's buildings to have 50% shorter cooldowns and reduces construction time by an additional 30%.

Activating Chrono boost now makes Karax's buildings construct instantly.

Concentrated Onslaught (Heroic Upgrade)



Vector Targeting

Solar Bombardment now fires 50% more shots and can now have its affected radius adjusted by up to 50%.
Quoted:
The Vector Targeting would be stretched from the center of the AoE inward or outward and would be bounded similarly to Medivh's "Portal" ability.


Project Power Field (Active)



Cooldown: 30 seconds

Summon a Pylon Power Field at a target location that lasts until a new one is projected. Global Range.
Quoted:
Adds more versatility to Pylon Reliant abilities.


Orbital Assault



Doubles the number of charges for Solar Lance and Orbital Strike.
Quoted:
This can allow for some massive damage and can also compensate for the loss of charges from the level 13 talent "Solar Convergence".


Khalai Ingenuity



Gain all Level 1 Talents as active talents.
Quoted:
Now you can build that super big Protoss base you always wanted!
