Leoric (Rework)

The Skeleton King

Leoric has been going back and forth the meta quite frequently as he was never quite at that spot when he was balanced before the scaling changes back in 2015. This rework concept of Leoric makes sure he lives up to his ability to be an Anti-Tank Bruiser Warrior. Key elements to this rework is meant to...

1) Buff Skeletal Swing slightly and adjust talents involving it to make Q build a thing.

2) Entomb level 20 upgrade worth picking by removing the damage it provides and gives it a Silence Effect to enemies caught in it.

3) Make March of the Black King a more compelling Heroic choice by increasing the speed in which he marches making it a little bit easier to hit enemies with no mobility.

I don't know my math well so I wouldn't know if this would make Leoric broken or not but think of it as the general idea behind the rework concept. :)

Combat Trait

Undying
Haunt your enemies as a ghost when you die

Become a ghost when you die, and resurrect upon reaching full Health. Your Abilities and Talents don't do damage while dead, but still heal you for 50% of their normal amount, causing you to cheat death. You can gather Regeneration Globes during Undying.

Primary Abilities

Skeletal Swing
Deal damage and slow in a cone in front of you

Cooldown: 8 seconds
Cost: 50 mana

Swing in front of you to deal 138 (+4% per level) damage and slow enemies by 40% for 2.5 seconds. Deals double damage to non-heroic units.

Drain Hope
Drain Health from an enemy Hero while close to them

Cooldown: 11 seconds
Cost: 60 mana

Grab an enemy Hero's soul, dealing up to 25% of their maximum Health as damage and healing for you for up to 25% of your maximum Health while you are nearby, over 4 seconds. You are slowed by 20% while this is active.

Wraith Walk
Separate from your body and move unhindered

Cooldown: 14 seconds
Cost: 50 mana

Separate from your body, becoming Unstoppable and gaining Movement Speed accelerating up to 50% over 2.5 seconds. When Wraith Walk ends or is cancelled, your body jumps to your wraith.

Swing in front of you to slow enemies by 40% for 2.5 seconds.

Drain Essence
Attach a chain to enemy Hero restoring Health

Cooldown: 11 seconds

Throw out a chain, attaching to the first enemy Hero hit healing you up to 12.5% of your maximum Health over 0 seconds as long as you remain close to an enemy. You drain more essence the longer you remain connected.

Cost: 75 mana

Create an unpathable tomb in front of you for 4 seconds.

Heal yourself while damaging nearby enemies

Cooldown: 80 seconds
Cost: 100 mana

Become Unstoppable and swing your mace three times, healing yourself for 7% of your maximum Health for each enemy Hero hit and dealing 183 (+4% per level) damage.

  • Active Ability
    Cooldown: 20 seconds
    Active to reduce the damage dealt by nearby enemy Heroes by 15% for 3 seconds and slows enemies for 70% of their Movement Speed decaying over 3 seconds.
    Passive: Heroes and Summons that attack Leoric have their Attack Speed slowed by 20% for 2.5 seconds.

Undying (Trait):
  • Now allows Leoric to Gather Regeneration Globes during Undying

    New Functionality
    Quest: Gathering a Regeneration Globe increases your Health Regeneration by 1 per second, up to 30 per second.
    Quest Reward: After gathering 30 Regeneration Globes, Increase your Physical Armor by 15, reducing damage taken from Basic Attacks by 15%.
  • Fealty Unto Death
    Heal amount increased from 1 to 1.5%

Skeletal Swing (Q):
  • Damage increased from 116 (+4% per level) to 138 (+4% per level)

    New Functionality
    For each enemy hit from Skeletal Swing Heals you for 43 (+4% per level). Healing is increased by 25% when used against Heroes.
  • New Talent at level 7; Mad King's Law
    Quest: Gain a stack of Mad King's Law when you hit 2 enemy Heroes or more with Skeletal Swing
    Quest Reward: Upon gaining 15 stacks, an untalented Skeletal Swing can be recast again for free within 3 seconds for 65% damage.
  • New Talent at level 16; Specter Killer
    Skeletal Swing deals bonus damage to Heroes equal to 2% of their maximum Health.

Drain Hope (W):
  • Drain Momentum Removed
  • Unyielding Despair
    Moved from level 16 to level 13
    Cooldown reduction reduced from 1 to 0.75 seconds.
  • Crushing Hope
    Moved from level 13 to level 16
  • New Talent at level 13; Chains of Suffering
    When you successfully landed Drain Hope on an enemy Hero it spreads to another nearby Hero at 50% reduced effectiveness. 25% as effective during Undying.

Wraith Walk (E):
  • Royal Focus Removed
  • New level 13 Talent; Burning Walk
    When you pass through enemies during Wrath Walk they take 103 (+4% per level) over 3 seconds.

Entomb (R):
  • Buried Alive
    New Functionality
    Enemies trapped inside the Entomb are now silenced for its duration but reduces the duration of Entomb from 4 to 3 seconds.

March of the Black King (R):
  • Speed in which Leoric travels during March of the Black King has been increased by 14%.

Talents

Tier 1/Level 1

1. Reanimation (Trait): Quest: Gathering a Regeneration Globe increases your Health Regeneration by 1 per second, up to 30 per second.
Quest Reward: After gathering 30 Regeneration Globes, Increase your Physical Armor by 15, reducing damage taken from Basic Attacks by 15%.

2. Consume Vitality (Q): For each enemy hit from Skeletal Swing Heals you for 43 (+4% per level). Healing is increased by 25% when used against Heroes.

3. Hopelessness (W): Increases the range of Drain Hope by 25%.


Tier 2/Level 4

1. Ossein Renewal (Active): Cooldown: 60 seconds
Active to restore 20% of your maximum Health over 6 seconds. Half as Effective while Undying.

2. Fealty Unto Death (Trait): When a nearby Minion dies, you restore 1.5% of your maximum Health and 5 mana. Half as effective while Undying.

3. Willing Vessel (W): Increase the healing from Drain Hope to 30% of your maximum Health and Drain Essence to 15% of your maximum Health.

4. Hardened Bones (E): During Wraith Walk, gain 25 Armor, taking 25% less damage.


Tier 3/Level 7

1. Ghastly Reach (Q): Increases the range of Skeletal Swing by 25%.

2. Paralyzing Rage (Q): Increases the Movement Speed slow of Skeletal Swing to 60%.

3. Mad King's Law (Q): Quest: Gain a stack of Mad King's Law when you hit 2 enemy Heroes or more with Skeletal Swing
Quest Reward: Upon gaining 15 stacks, an untalented Skeletal Swing can be recast again for free within 3 seconds for 65% damage.

4. Lingering Apparition (E): Increases the duration of Wraith Walk by 80%.


Tier 4/Level 10

1. Entomb (R): Cooldown: 50 seconds Cost: 75 mana
Create an unpathable tomb in front of you for 4 seconds.

2. March of the Black King (R): Cooldown: 80 seconds Cost: 100 mana
Become Unstoppable and swing your mace three times, healing yourself for 7% of your maximum Health for each enemy Hero hit and dealing 183 (+4% per level) damage.


Tier 5/Level 13

2. Unyielding Despair (W): Every second Drain Hope is active, its cooldown is reduced by 0.75 seconds.

2. Chains of Suffering (W): When you successfully landed Drain Hope on an enemy Hero it spreads to another nearby Hero at 50% reduced effectiveness. 25% as effective during Undying.

3. Burning Walk (E): When you pass through enemies during Wrath Walk they take 103 (+4% per level) over 3 seconds.


Tier 6/Level 16

1. Specter Killer (Q): Skeletal Swing deals bonus damage to Heroes equal to 2% of their maximum Health.

2. Crushing Hope (W): If Drain Hope lasts its full duration, it deals bonus damage equal to 10% of the victim's maximum Health. This damage does not heal you.

3. Chilling Presence (Active): Cooldown: 20 seconds
Active to reduce the damage dealt by nearby enemy Heroes by 15% for 3 seconds and slows enemies for 70% of their Movement Speed decaying over 3 seconds.
Passive: Heroes and Summons that attack Leoric have their Attack Speed slowed by 20% for 2.5 seconds.


Tier 7/Level 20

1. Buried Alive (R): Enemies trapped inside the Entomb are now silenced for its duration but reduces the duration of Entomb from 4 to 3 seconds.

2. Death March (R): Your final swing of March of the Black King also applies the base version of Drain Hope to all enemy Heroes in a large area.

3. Spectral Leech (Passive): Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes deal bonus damage equal to 5% of the Hero's maximum Health and heal you for the same amount.

4. Hardened Shield (Active): Cooldown: 60 seconds
Activate to gain 75 armor for 4 seconds, taking 75% less damage.
