Author's Note: This concept is for the CDC#6, a community based design content organized by the wonderful Bliztron which you can check out over here. The theme this time is any old demon from the Diablo franchise, to celebrate Mephisto's appearance.

For anyone who doesn't know Lister, he's the leader of Baal's Minions of Destruction in Diablo 2. He was essentially the second-to-last boss that had to be defeated before players could challenge Baal. The Minions of Destruction were Baal's elite pets and most powerful servants, which is why they only appeared right before his fight. They were known for brutal melee attacks with knockback and high movement speed, running down and killing unprepared players.

Combat Trait

1
Ruthless Barrage
2 Charges
Passive:
Lister's basic attack will consume a charge of Ruthless Barrage to strike with all of his fists, dealing an extra 164 (+4% per level) damage and knocking the target back a short distance. One charge refreshes every 6 seconds, and additional charges can be refreshed through some abilities.

Toggled Ability
Cooldown: N/A
Cost: N/A

Lister can toggle whether or not his basic attacks will activate Ruthless Barrage. Defaults to on.

Lister can have more than 2 charges of Ruthless Barrage at a time through charge refreshing effects. However, when above 2 charges, they decay at the rate of 1 every 6 seconds.

Primary Abilities

1
Brutal Sweep
Cooldown: 9 seconds
Cost: 60 Mana

Lister performs a sweeping strike on a target enemy in melee range, pushing them in a target direction then performing a basic attack on them. Lister will always move himself to be behind where the target was just pushed to.

Brutal Sweep also deals 164 (+4% per level) damage to all enemies that Lister's target passes through, and if it passed through at least one enemy hero or the target was pushed into a wall, a charge of Ruthless Barrage is refreshed.

Brutal Sweep uses vector targeting to determine the direction of the push.
2
Pursuit of Destruction
Cooldown: 16 seconds
Cost: 70 Mana

Lister winds up for 0.5 seconds, then quickly charges a long distance in a target direction. He stops upon the first enemy he collides with, performing a basic attack on them.

If Pursuit of Destruction traveled at least 75% of its total distance and hit an enemy hero, a charge of Ruthless Barrage is refreshed.

Pursuit of Destruction's maximum range is equal to Genji's Swift Strike, but it cannot pass through walls.
3
Fixate
Cooldown: 14 seconds
Cost: 30 Mana

Lister lobs an orb of dark energy at a target location after 0.5 seconds, marking the enemy hero closest to the center for 7 seconds. Ruthless Barrage deals an extra 82 (+4% per level) damage to the marked target, and after knocking them back Lister charges back into melee range of them.

If the target marked by Fixate is struck by 3 Ruthless Barrages or dies before the mark ends, Fixate's cooldown is reset. Can only affect one enemy at a time.

Fixate's area is equal to Jaina's Blizzard, and it is a lobbed projectile similar to Azmodan's Orb of Destruction with similar travel time.

Heroic Abilities

1
Spectral Hit
Cooldown: 55 seconds
Cost: 80 Mana

Lister imbues his next 4 Ruthless Barrages within 8 seconds with elemental energies.

The first gains the Fire effect, dealing an extra 82 (+4% per level) damage to the main target and 164 (+4% per level) damage to all enemies in a small area around them.

The second gains the Cold effect, Slowing the target's movement and attack speed by 20% for 2.5 seconds.

The third gains the Electric effect, Stunning the target for an extra 0.5 seconds after the knockback ends.

The fourth gains the Poison effect, setting the target's Armor to -10 for 2 seconds.

Spectral Hit's cooldown does not begin until it's effects end.
2
Dark Frenzy
Cooldown: 85 seconds
Cost: 100 Mana

Lister pulses with dark energies of Hell, causing himself and any allied heroes within a large area to enter a frenzy for 5 seconds. This grants affected heroes 30% increased movement speed, immunity to Slows and Roots, and the ability to walk through other units. The first time each allied hero walks through an enemy hero, the enemy takes 82 (+4% per level) damage and has their movement speed Slowed by 20% for 2.5 seconds.

The damage effect can happen once per affected allied hero per enemy hero, meaning that if Lister's whole team is affected by Dark Frenzy each enemy can be hit by it 5 times. Or maybe 7, if the Lost Vikings are involved.

Talents

Tier 1

Offensive Recovery - Ruthless Barrage also heals Lister for 82 (+4% per level) Health.
Surge of Rage - Refreshing a charge of Ruthless Barrage through a basic ability cast restores 10 Mana to Lister.
Quest: Each time this effect triggers, permanently increase the Mana restored by 2, up to a maximum of 60 Mana (or 25 quest progress).
Reward: After completing this quest, increase Lister's maximum Mana by 100. Additionally, Ruthless Barrage deals bonus damage equal to 10% of Lister's current Mana.

March of Hell -
Quest: Reset Fixate's cooldown.
Reward: After 10 resets, resetting Fixate's cooldown reduces the remaining cooldown of Pursuit of Destruction by 4 seconds.
Reward: After 25 resets, Lister and all allied heroes move 15% faster while moving toward Fixate's target.

Tier 2

Killing Spree -
Quest: Earning a takedown increases Ruthless Barrage's base damage by 4%, up to 20% maximum. Progress resets on death.
Reward: While this quest is complete, earning a takedown refreshes 1 charge of Ruthless Barrage.

Sustained Aggression - Lister's basic attacks that do not consume a charge of Ruthless Barrage reduce the remaining refresh time by 0.5 seconds.
Opportunist - If Brutal Sweep refreshes a charge of Ruthless Barrage, Lister can cast it again for free within 3 seconds. This free cast cannot refresh another charge.

Tier 3

Bulwark of Fists - Every 9 seconds, Lister gains 1 stack of Block, granting 50 Physical Armor against the next incoming hero basic attack, up to 2 charges at a time. Refreshing a charge of Ruthless Barrage through a basic ability grants 1 charge of Block.
Momentum - While casting Brutal Sweep or Pursuit of Destruction and for 0.75 seconds afterward, Lister is Unstoppable and gains 50 Spell Armor.
Predictive Blocking - Fixate also reduces the damage its target deals to Lister by 15%.

Tier 4

Spectral Hit - See above.
Dark Frenzy - See above.

Tier 5

Wide Strike - Ruthless Barrage also deals 40% damage to other targets in a wide cone in front of Lister. These targets are not affected by any knockback or other talents.
Blazing Sweep - Demonic fire erupts from Lister during Brutal Sweep, increasing the size of its secondary damage to both sides and behind its target's location. This extra fire range cannot trigger a Ruthless Barrage refresh.
Inevitable Obliteration - Pursuit of Destruction is now cast instantly and can travel through terrain.

Tier 6

Forceful Assault - Basic attacks from Brutal Sweep and Pursuit of Destruction deal 25% more damage. If they are affected by Ruthless Barrage, it also deals 25% more damage.
Seeing Red - Increase the radius of Fixate by 33%. If it hits at least 2 enemy heroes, it also refreshes a charge of Ruthless Barrage.
Fatal Wound - Resetting Fixate's cooldown by hitting the target with 3 Ruthless Barrages will also Root them for 0.5 seconds and deal damage to them equal to 5% of their maximum Health.

Tier 7

Fifth Element - Spectral Hit now has a fifth elemental effect after Poison, Magic. This reduces the cooldown of Spectral Hit by 25 seconds.
Total Frenzy - Dark Frenzy now has global range, and grants affected allied heroes Unstoppable for the first 0.75 seconds of its duration.
Warpath - Pursuit of Destruction leaves hellish energies in Lister's path for 2.5 seconds. This area is impassable to enemies (and counts as a wall for Brutal Sweep), and allies move 15% faster through it.
Share the Pain - Fixate can now affect multiple heroes at a time and is applied to all enemy heroes in its area of effect. Whenever Lister deals damage to an enemy affected by Fixate, other affected enemies take 20% of that damage.

Skins and Quotes

Skins:

Default: Minion of Destruction
The strongest among Baal's most elite pets, Lister was placed as Baal's last line of defense before the Worldstone. Now, he has come to bring his destructive wrath to the Nexus on all of Baal's foes.
Description:
Based on his concept art/art from the game. Looks part dragon and part alien, very spiky. Though he is mostly one color, other tints add highlights along his spikes and arms to make him more visually interesting.
Tints:
Default. A slightly yellowish grey.
Frigid. Dark blue with white highlights.
Worldstone. Dark grey with red highlights.

Epic: Lister-lisk
Abathur was impressed by the appearance of the powerful demon Lister in the Nexus, and after some work has developed a new strain of Zerg drawing on its strengths.
Description:
Much like the Butcherlisk and that one Zerg Anub'arak skin, it's just Lister but zerg-y. Brown chitin armor and purple flesh underneath.
Tints:
Default. Brown armor, purple flesh.
Zerus. Dark green armor, blue-grey flesh.
Char. Dark grey armor, red flesh.

Epic: Hydra of the Sands
In Luxoria, none dare to enter the Dunes of Lister for any reason, be it trade or war. Those that do, no matter how well prepared, all disappear. Though none have lived to confirm it, these disappearances are blamed on a fabled Sand Hydra.
Description:
Lister but a hydra. More reptilian and scaly, instead of fists he has extra heads.
Tints:
Default. Tan and dark grey scales.
Swampdweller. Dark green and light blue scales.
Stormborn. White and yellow scales.

Quotes:

Lister doesn't seem like he would actually talk, so his quotes would all be angry growling noises, like the Butcher without the occasional FRESH MEAT. Writing out *angry growling noises* several times seems unnecessary, so here's an explanation instead.
