Combat Trait

1
Martial Prowess
Maraad's passive provides him with either more power or more protections the longer he's in a certain stance.

Warrior Stance : Gain 5 Spell Power for every 5 seconds in this stance, up to 20 Spell Power. (stacks are removed when stance is switched)

OR

Support Stance : Gain 5 Spell Armor for every 5 seconds in this stance, up to 20 Spell Armor. (stacks are removed when stance is switched)

Primary Abilities

1
Swift Judgement OR Swift Blessing
Q: Swift Judgement (Warrior Stance)
"Maraad swings his hammer in front of him, damaging and slowing enemies hit"
135° Melee arc attack that deals 150 (+4% per level) damage and slows for 20% for 3 seconds.

OR

Q: Swift Blessing (Support Stance)
"Maraad bestows the blessings of his people on a target ally, healing them"
Single target, melee range heal for 275 (+4% per level).
*Maraad may target himself with this ability

Cooldown: 8 Seconds
Mana Cost: 70 Mana
2
Switch Stance
W: Stance Switch
"Maraad switches his stance, essentially changing his class, his Q and E abilities, and his passive"
Vindicator Maraad can switch between two different stances - a Warrior stance and a Support stance. Each stance switches the abilities of his Q and E but not his R. Whichever Heroic ability he's chosen is locked within that stance. Switching stances resets the cooldowns of his Q and E abilities.
*For reference on mechanics, think Greymane's shapeshift

Cooldown: 14 Seconds
Mana Cost: N/A
3
Shards of Naaru OR Blessings of Naaru
E: Shards of Naaru (Warrior Stance)
"Maraad fires the floating shards of his hammer in a line at his enemies, piercing them when hit"
Line projectile that stores up to 4 charges, each dealing 50 (+4% per level) damage, and Slowing for 10% per shard (up to 40%) for 3 seconds (or until removed).
This ability may be activated again to rip the shards from affected enemy heroes, removing the slow but applying a DoT, dealing 75 (+4% per level) damage over 3 seconds.
*Does not pass through minions
**Slow is refreshed with each stack applied

OR

E : Blessings of Naaru (Support Stance)
"Maraad casts the floating shards of his hammer in a line towards his allies, providing a shield"
Line projectile that stores up to 4 charges, each granting a 200 (+4% per level) shield to allies, lasting 4 seconds.
If all projectiles are cast on the same ally, it also provides them with 2 stacks of Block, granting them 75 Physical Armor against an enemy hero's basic attack for 5 seconds.
*Passes through minions
**Shield cooldown refreshes with each stack applied
***For reference and scale, think Ana's Healing Dart

Cooldown: 12 Seconds
Mana Cost: 40 Mana

Heroic Abilities

1
Hammer of Naaru
R1 : Hammer of Naaru (Warrior Stance)
"Maraad dashes to an enemy within range, breaking his hammer upon them and impaling it's fragments into nearby enemies"
Upon activation, performs an Unstoppable dash to a target enemy hero within melee range over 0.5 seconds, smashing the target enemy Hero for 500 (+4% per level) damage and shattering his hammer, dealing 200 (+4% per level) AoE damage to enemies near the initial target, applying Shards of Naaru to enemies affected and Slowing them for the same amount.
If there were no enemy heroes affected, aside from his initial target, Maraad is Silenced for 10 seconds while his hammer reforms. Otherwise, he may reactivate this ability to reassemble his hammer.
*Does not apply the DoT of his E when reactivated

Cooldown: 80 Seconds
Mana Cost: 80 Mana
2
Xe'ra's Grace
R2 : Xe'ra's Grace (Support Stance)
"Maraad summons a prime naaru, the Light Mother herself, to blind his enemies and shield his allies"
Upon activation, summons Xe'ra in a target direction. Xe'ra emits a large AoE around herself, applying a steadily increasing shield up to 1,000 (+4% per level) to allies, and Blinding any enemy Heroes within her AoE. Lasts for 10 seconds.
*Untargetable
**Grants vision to summoned area
***For reference and scale, think Raynor's Hyperion ult

Cooldown: 100 Seconds
Mana Cost: 80 Mana

Notes

I'd like to postface this concept by saying two things :

1) I deliberately left out traits, as I feel that I'm not experienced enough as a concept creator to dictate what I believe to be fair/unfair when balancing heroes, and would not want those numbers or effects to deter from the overall appeal of each concept. I did however leave in base and ability stats as a basis, although these are subject to change at the discretion of those interested.

2) In this instance in particular, I am not well versed in the character's in-world abilities - I decided to make a kit simply based off aesthetic and what little I know of Maraad's race/background, as well as what I believe would be a fun and enticing edition to Heroes of the Storm.

Any constructive criticisms are welcome :)

**I SUGGEST READING HIS W ABILITY FIRST**

I like the unique concept of Stance Dancing you added but I'm wondering why you chose W as his swap and not D? This would allow you to add 2 additional abilities.

You also note "Warrior/Support Stance" for your Heroics. At level 20, did you plan on allowing the player to pick up the other Heroic ability? (Similar to Alarak but now your R would swap depending on your Stance)

My only other concern is the 1000 point shield. With 4% scaling that's a 2200 point shield at level 20.

Hey, thanks for your input!
I appreciate the constructive criticisms :)

Thank you! I like it too. The only reason I made W his swap was to prevent his kit from being too congested/powerful. But I could do what you suggested if I could think of 2 additional abilities :nexusoops: Any suggestions?

I did think of that being a possible talent to take at level 20, I just wasn't sure if that was too powerful, so I decided not to include a talent tree as I'm not the best judge of balance.

You're right, that probably is too big of a shield.
My thought was that because the shield gradually builds, and isn't an instantaneous shield like say Lucio's ult, that a larger shield would be okay as this ult would theoretically be used during team fights, and would constantly be ticked down from damage.
What do you think the base value of the shield should be?
