Ruby Zerithel

Gemborne Flare Mage (Original Character)

One of a series of Hero Concepts inspired by various Roleplaying things I have participated in. I will not be diving into the backstory of these characters unless requested.

Ruby is a Melee Assassin, adept at moving quickly through combat, keeping enemies at her optimum range for the given moment, and specializing in dueling mages. Ruby's versatility in approach shines through her talents, especially those at 10 and 20, giving her more tools for dueling and for helping manipulate her chosen foe, or supporting the team by applying unique debuffs and serving as a very-off tank for Abilities.

Quick notes on appearance:
Looks as the picture above does, though her limbs are thinner, and her eyes(as unnoticeable of a detail as this would be usually) are more red.

Passive; It's a Mage Eat Mage World out there
Ability damage negated by Spell Armor(and normal Armor, when given to her) causes Ruby to regain Mana equal to the absorbed damage.

Level 20 Talent; Active; Gimme Mana
Ruby's Spell Armor is increased to 100, breaking the limit temporarily, until either 4 seconds have passed or until her Mana is fully restored.

Cooldown - 45 seconds, starting after the effect ends.

Primary Abilities

[Q] - Flare Rush
Active; Suddenly, I'm reminded of Marth in Smash Bros...
Ruby rushes in target direction, burning nearby enemies for 100 damage. At the end of Ruby's dash, she strikes with her rapier, causing enemies hit by the thrust to take 320 damage. If Ruby hits an enemy with the thrust part of the dash, Flare Rush's cooldown is reduced by 50%.

Range - 2.5|1(Dash|Thrust)
Area - 2|0.75(Dash|Thrust)
Cooldown - 5 seconds.
Cost - 30 Mana.

[W] - Re-ignition
Active; There's a song joke I can't remember here
Ruby flares up for 5 seconds. During this time, she burns nearby enemies for 30 damage per second, and regains 120 health per second. Every 50 damage negated through Ruby's passive Spell Armor(additional Armor doesn't count) reduces the cooldown of Re-ignition by 0.75 seconds.

Burn Radius - 1.5
Cooldown - 12 seconds.
Cost - 50 Mana.

Active; Bewm
Ruby unleashes a blast of fire, dealing 220 damage to enemies hit and knocking them each back. Damaging enemy heroes with any part of Flare Rush reduces the cooldown of Flare Burst by 1 second.

Range - 2.5
Area - 70°
Knockback - 2
Cooldown - 9 seconds.
Cost - 40 Mana.

Level 20 Talent; Active; THUNDAH-- Again, Lei Shen's.
Gained by picking Elemental Trinity with the Frostfire Nova Heroic Ability. Grants the Lightning Boost effects for Ruby's next ability cast.

Cooldown - 20 seconds, starting after the chosen ability is cast.
Cost - 40 Mana.

Level 20 Talent; Active; Do we play Let It Go for Frostfire Mages?
Gained by picking Elemental Trinity with the Lightning Flare Heroic Ability. Grants the Frost Boost effects for Ruby's next ability cast.

Cost - 40 Mana.

Active; RIP Frostfire Mages
Ruby unleashes the stored power of another gem in conjunction with her Fire, releasing a nova of blue Frostfire around her. Enemies hit take 360 damage and are slowed by 30% for 2 seconds. Additionally, the Frost boost lasts through her next ability cast within 5 seconds, empowering its effects.

[Q] - Flare Rush slows enemies hit by the flames by 20% for 0.75 seconds, and enemies hit by the blade thrust are rooted for 1.5 seconds.
[W] - Re-ignition grants Ruby 20 Armor through its effect duration.
[E] - Flare Burst slows enemies by 50% decaying over 1.25 seconds.

Cooldown - 40 seconds.
Cost - 60 Mana.

Active; The Thunderstruck joke belongs to Lei Shen, otherwise it'd be here
Ruby unleashes the stored power of another gem in conjunction with her Fire, releasing a thin blast of Fire-enchanted Lightning. Enemies hit take 300 damage, and are inflicted with the Static effect for 2 seconds(detailed under its own section below.). Additionally, the Lightning boost lasts through her next ability cast within 5 seconds, empowering its effects.

[Q] - Flare Rush deals an extra 40 damage to all targets hit, and applies a 2 second Static debuff to people hit by the Blade's thrust.
[W] - Re-ignition grants Ruby 40% increased movement speed, decaying over its effect duration.
[E] - Flare Burst stuns enemies hit for 0.25 seconds, and deals an extra 60 damage to them.

Range - 6.5
Width - 1.5
Cooldown - 40 seconds.
Cost - 60 Mana.

Static

New, not-exactly-CC Effect granted by talents for Ruby.
Static - Enemies are stunned for 0.25 seconds every time they move 2 units.

Talents

Level 1|Tier 1
(!)Trials of the Clan - Quest: Complete various tasks to empower yourself.
Quest: Gather 15 Regen Globes.
Quest: Participate in 5 Takedowns.
Quest: Strike with Flare Rush's Thrust 20 times.
Quest: Negate 5000 damage with Gemborne Absorption.
Quest: Soak 7500 Experience.
Reward: For each task completed, increase Ruby's Attack Damage by 10.
Reward: After completing three tasks, increase Ruby's Maximum Health by 10%.
Reward: After completing all tasks, Ruby's basic abilities have their normal cooldowns reduced by 1|3|3 seconds.


(!)Expanded Gems - Quest: Gather Regen Globes to enhance Mana, Spell Armor.
Repeatable Quest: Gathering a Regen Globe grants +10 Maximum Mana.
Quest: Gathering 3 Regen Globes increases Ruby's Spell Armor by 1, up to 10 additional Spell Armor.
Reward: After gathering 30 Regen Globes, Ruby gains 1 Spell Armor per 5% Maximum Mana missing, and 1% increased Health Regeneration per 0.5% Maximum Mana stored.


??? - Abilities deal bonus damage over time to Mercenaries and Monsters.
All of Ruby's basic abilities ignite Mercenaries and Monsters, dealing 30 damage per second for 4 seconds. Ignitions on Monsters and Mercenaries stack, applying multiple, separately timed damage over time effects.



Level 4|Tier 2
Invigorating Absorption - Gemborne Absorption grants health.
For every 25 Mana gained by Gemborne Absorption, Ruby heals 15 health.


Calm Flame - Re-ignition heals for less, cooldown increased, but lasts for longer.
Re-ignition's heal over time is reduced to 100 Health per second, and its cooldown is increased by 1 second, but its duration is increased to 8 seconds.


Repositioning Rush - Flare Rush grants movement speed if Thrust misses.
If Flare Rush's Thrust hits no enemies, Ruby gains 20% increased movement speed for 2 seconds.



Level 7|Tier 3
Flaring Momentum - Basic attacks reduce Ruby's basic ability cooldowns.
Basic attacks lower the cooldowns of Ruby's basic abilities by 0.5 seconds.


Re-igniting Rush - Hitting enemy Heroes with Flare Rush's thrust reduces Re-ignition's cooldown.
For every enemy hero hit by the thrust of Flare Rush, Re-ignition's cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds.


Combo Duelist - Flare Rush and Flare Burst reduce each other's cooldowns
If Ruby hits only 1 enemy with Flare Rush's thrust, Flare Burst's cooldown is lowered by 3 seconds. If Ruby hits only 1 enemy with Flare Burst, Flare Rush's cooldown is lowered by 1 second.



Level 10|Tier 4
Frostfire Nova - Unleash the power of Frost and Fire, burning and slowing nearby enemies.

Lightning Flare - Unleash the power of Lightning and Fire, burning and static-charging enemies in a long line.
See [R] - Lightning Flare under Heroic Abilities above.



Level 13|Tier 5
Confident Rush - Striking an enemy Hero with Flare Rush's thrust grants Armor.
If Ruby hits an enemy hero with the thrust of Flare Rush, she gains 10 Armor for 2 seconds. This Armor stacks up to twice, and its duration is refreshed on every reapplication.


Flaring Up - Re-ignition empowers another basic ability.
After casting Re-ignition, Ruby's next basic ability during Re-ignition's duration is empowered.
[Q] - Flare Rush releases a fire blast on all targets struck by its thrust, dealing 50 damage to that enemy and all enemies within range 1.5.
[E] - Flare Blast has its width increased to 100

Skins

Dalaran Battlemage Ruby
Elvish Battlemage themed around Dalaran. Base tint is a Blood Elf, with blonde hair. Something like [This]
Secondary tints: "Silvermoon": Blue & Silver, a High Elf, with Silver hair. "Bloodmoon": Red & Grey/Black, a San'layn, with black hair.

Small update to denote this as an Original Character concept, rather than being from anything in particular.

Fixed small typos across talents; the unnamed talent at Level 1 had "nad" fixed to "and", and the description of "Invigorating Absorbtion" no longer says it lowers cooldowns.
Trials of the Clan now grants bonus Attack Damage on every completion, and not just one.

Static Effect nerfed; Now occurs every 2 units moved(from 1.5).
First skin added. Still the only "OC" I've finished, though....
