Spiritwalker

Tauren Mystic

"Believed to be the ill omen of a coming age, white Tauren are held in near reverence by their people, often becoming reclusive priests who wander the land in search of kindred spirits"

The Spiritwalker walks the line between a ranged warrior and a support thanks to his large health pool. In place of straightforward healing abilities he specializes in reducing the damage his allies recieve in the first place by redirecting it to himself.

Although the Spiritwalker has extremely powerful damage mitigation to apply to his allies he has no direct heals whatsoever. Any damage his allies suffer is permanent, and the majority of damage that the Spiritwalker suffers can only be dealt with by his high health regeneration.

Note: If anyone knows of a specific lore character who is referred to as a Spirit Walker please let me know. As it stands now this concept is merely based on the Warcraft 3 unit.
EDIT: User matrix123mko suggested Bovan Windtotem, a named Spiritwalker from WC3 as a possible name for this hero, which I like. I'm going to leave the name as Spiritwalker for now as I feel that people know what Spiritwalkers are, but generally don't know Bovan Windtotem by name.

Combat Trait

1
Endurance
All damage dealt to the Spiritwalker is converted into a damage over time effect that lasts 5 seconds.

The Spiritwalker has high health regeneration.

Primary Abilities

1
Spirit Link
Chain your spirit to an allied hero's, causing 30% of the damage dealt to them to be redirected to you. Must remain within range of your target. 1 second cooldown.

Spirit Link can be applied to 2 allies at a time, although the damage redirection effect is divided among them as follows:

- 1 Spirit Link target: 30% damage redirection

- 2 Spirit Links targets: 15% damage redirection each

Reactivating Spirit Link on a target cancels the effect.
2
Disenchant
Activate to purge yourself of 50% of the damage you are suffering from Endurance.

After removing damage this way Disenchant becomes an AoE ability, allowing the Spiritwalker to deal damage in a target area equal to the damage he removed from himself. 15 second cooldown that begins after using the stored damage.
3
Ethereal Form
Slip into the spirit realm, increasing your health regeneration by 200% for 10 seconds.

The rate of this bonus regeneration decays by 20% per second. 20 second cooldown.

Heroic Abilities

1
Ancestral Spirit
Activate to call on the guidance of an Ancestral Spirit, increasing your health regeneration by 200% for 5 seconds. 45 second cooldown.

Upon death, you take on the form of an Ancestral Spirit for a duration equal to the total time Ancestral Spirit was active in your last life or until you respawn.

While you are an Ancestral Spirit you can use Spirit Link, but it is 50% less effective. You cannot be attacked while you are an Ancestral Spirit.
2
Spirit Link Totem
Summon a totem at the target location for 5 seconds that redistributes the health of all affected allied heroes every second such that they are all at the same percentage of maximum health. 70 second cooldown.

Talents

Level 1:
It Takes A Village: The duration of Endurance effects on you is increased by 1.5 seconds for each ally you were connected to via Spirit Link when you suffered the damage.
Prosperity: (Quest) Collect 30 Regeneration Globes. Each Regeneration Globe permanently increases your maximum health by 0.5%. (Reward) Spirit Link can affect up to three targets.
Kindred Spirits: Permanently increase your health regeneration by 1% every time you have Spirit Link on an ally for 5 consecutive seconds.
Spirit Guide: Allies affected by Spirit Link receive 15% increased attack speed while you are in Ethereal Form.

Level 4:

Equinox: Your health regeneration increases by 200% for 3 seconds after you pass 50% health. This effect has a 6 second cooldown.
Blood Ties: You heal for 3% of the damage dealt by allies connected to you by Spirit Link.
Abolish: Increase the radius of Disenchant by up to 50% based on the amount of Endurance damage it cleared.
Purge: Increase the Endurance damage removed by Disenchant to 75%, but its cooldown is increased to 20 seconds.

Level 7:
Eroding Winds: The cooldowns of your basic abilities refresh 20% faster while you are suffering Endurance damage.
Untethered: Ethereal Form increases the range of Spirit Link by 20%, and allies continue to redirect damage to the Spiritwalker for 2 seconds after Spirit Link ends.
Purified Grounds: Disenchant purifies its area of impact for 3 seconds, pausing all Endurance damage you are suffering while you remain in the affected area.

Level 10:

See above section.

Level 13:

Patience Of The Elders: The duration of all Endurance damage dealt to you while you are below 35% health is doubled.
Nomadic: The duration of Stuns, Slows, and Roots against you is reduced by 50% if you are suffering 25% or more of your health in Endurance damage.
One Foot In The Grave: Casting Ethereal Form below 50% health increases its duration by 5 seconds.

Level 16:
Restless Spirit: Spirit Link can now be cast on an enemy hero, causing 30% of the damage dealt to you to be redirected to them for 5 seconds. This function has a 15 second cooldown.
Omen: The effect of Ethereal Form is reversed, starting at 0% increased health regeneration and building up to 400% over its duration.
Astral Projection: Reactivating Ethereal Form during its duration causes the Spiritwalker to teleport to the position where he initially cast Ethereal Form.

Level 20:
Lineage: Summoned Ancestral Spirits will cast Spirit Link on you, redirecting 30% of damage dealt to you to themselves for the duration.
Enduring Totem: Each time Spirit Link Totem redistributes health its duration is increased by 0.1 seconds for each ally it affected.
Endurance Aura: Allies connected to you by Spirit Link also benefit from a weaker version of Endurance causing damage they receive to be dealt to them over 3 seconds.
Hex: Activate to apply a short range link between yourself and a target enemy hero, transforming them into a frog. Lasts 5 seconds or until they move out of range.

Interesting, very interesting. I'm a little concerned though, we can only fit so many Tauren in the game and Cairne should be top priority when it comes to Tauren, so I don't know how well we can fit this guy in alongside ETC. Considering that Tauren Cheiftains had pretty generic abilities I'd say Cairne's abilities are limited. I guess what I'm saying is that this might work better as a straight-up Cairne design, but I'm not sure.

As for your abilities. Most of these abilities are very, ah, liberated from how they worked in WC3. He has 2 pure self-applied defense abilities which is a bad idea, especially for a support. Etherael Form is similar to ETC's Guitar Solo with the slight variance of it decaying over time, and should really be doing what Disenchant is doing. Endurance is cool but a little extremely broken (burst damage will be COMPLETELY shut down by him) so perhaps change it so only half of damage taken is delayed. Disenchant would be better as an offensive spell, maybe just cast it on an enemy to reduce their healing for a bit.

I'd also buff Spirit Link so it doesn't have diminishing returns since it already kills you faster for each ally it's on. Spirit Link Totem doesn't seem useful to me at all, this isn't WoW where only the Tank takes damage most of the time, so maybe make it apply to enemies as well? Ancestral Spirit is funny sounding, can't say too much about that.

Well, anyways. I like the design quite a bit, regardless of my criticism. Noice work :3

Thanks! I think he'd be really interesting. I'd imagine his skins could look quite interesting as well. I'm pictuing his master skin having a big eagle feather headdress - - basically a lot of the classic Tauren looks that we don't get to see on E.T.C.

Completely reworked this concept. Changed his functionality to be massive damage redirection from his allies, which he then handles with his high health regen and the ability to purge damage from himself on a long cooldown. I think his solo support capabilities would be quite strong even though they're less traditional.

I like the idea you're going for, but his needs a little more support somewhere, he's too middle of road not sure what to do with him. His trait and maybe Ethereal Form should be tweaked to be able to benefit his allies in some way. Maybe Endurance reworked into some sort of aura that benefits him and nearby allies?

I kinda like the idea, however concept is missing proper punch.

He is not able to heal which means he is pretty much unable to be solo support. (playing him in QM will be real pain)
He also doesn't seem to have any damage capabilities or anything else to make him viable secondary support like Tyrande or T***ador.

I also remember Bovan Windtotem from W3.
Another option is Ashar Ghosthoof: http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Ashar_Ghosthoof
