STARCRAFT MAP CONCEPT

'Tug Of War' Style Map

Tileset: Floating space station - - an environment Starcraft players will recognize.

Inspiration: 'Tug of War'. Each of the map's three lanes can be pulled towards either side by capturing a central control point. Why would you want to do this? In each lane there are clouds of 'toxin' seeping up from vents. Pulling the lane towards your side widens your vents while denying the enemy team theirs. Friendly minions that pass through toxin on your side of the map are empowered (perhaps turning into Infested Terran?), increasing the damage they deal and reducing damage taken by enemy minions and structures. The longer a minion is exposed to the toxin the stronger they'll be.

What does a lane look like?

As we see the Blue Team has capped the control point and pulled the lane to their side, closing off the enemy's toxin vents in that lane and doubling the size of their own.

What does the map look like?

As we see it has three lanes, each with their own control point (activating in a 'random' manner, similar to Sky Temple). There are two siege camps that can be captured to push down the middle lane. There are also four bruiser camps on floating platforms that are inaccessible - - unless of course your lane has been pulled towards the enemy team's side. This grants access to that camp and provides a sort of counter-play for the team that didn't capture the point in that lane. It could also be a trap.

You can't tell in that image (because the scale is all wrong) but I envisioned your team's first fort moving into range of your secondary towers when pulled to your side as well.

What does a game in action look like?

So that's my rough idea. Needs lots of work with things like where to put hiding places, plus the giant gaps between lanes are unexciting, but that's the basic concept. Thoughts?

The only thing I dont like is limiting when you can get the bruiser camps. I would prefer if they just vanished after the the objective was taken.

Cool concept.
An idea that might connect it more to starcraft, let the toxin be Terrazine and have Moebius corp on one side and the Tal'darim on the other. The Terrazine is harvested and used to boost the power of the lane minions.
The idea that you can only access knights camps while defending is really cool, and the mercs might even be from StarCraft, maruader and hellbats or something.

I like this... I like this a lot! Also, was this made on paint? The icons look pretty small to do on paint, or are you using a special program to get the icons in (a program that allows you to import icons), because the icons seem like they're exactly the same (if sometimes reversed) to me.

Yea it was just made on paint. You can just zoom in and work on a smaller scale to make tiny icons.

Cool idea. With the new SC2 expansion coming out they are probably going to come out with a map or 2 in the SC universe and this is one of the best ideas i've seen. One thing is that the Gas should be Terrazine gas that is supposed to be the "breath of the gods" and enhances psionic powers. That would make a little more sense to "empower" the minions.
