Tassadar

High Templar

A rework for Tassadar that addresses Tassadar's most difficult design challenges.

1.) A Tassadar that mostly fits within lore.
2.) A Tassadar that still feels familiar for fans of his play style.
3.) A Tassadar that fills more roles than just a tiny niche role as Tracer (etc.) shield bot.
4.) A Tassadar that is buffed for non-pro players, but not for pro players.
5.) A Tassadar that has a diverse talent build that dramatically alters how you play him from game to game:

a.) AA dive hero enabler
b.) Main healer who excels in tankier compositions.
c.) Archon
d.) Psionic Storm

Combat Trait

1
Oracle
Cooldown: 30 seconds

Activate to greatly increase Tassadar's vision radius, allow him to see over obstacles, and detect stealthed units. Plasma Shields within radius regenerate 10% of shields per second for Oracle's duration. Lasts for 5 seconds.

Passive: Tassadar has a fixed 500 maximum energy instead of mana.

Primary Abilities

1
Plasma Shield
Energy: 75
Cooldown: 8 seconds

Grant a Shield that absorbs up to 20% of an ally's maximum health over 4 seconds. Non-heroes gain an additional 100% shielding. Cannot be cast on structures or bosses.
2
Psionic Storm
Energy: 200
Cooldown: 8 seconds

Deal 250 (+4% per level) damage per second to enemies in target area for 3 seconds. Damage increased by 20% versus non-heroes and reduced by 20% versus structures.
3
Force Wall
Energy: 25
Cooldown: 8 seconds

Create a wall that blocks all units from moving through it for 2 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

1
Archon
Energy: 250
Cooldown: 60 seconds

Tassadar transforms into an Archon. All, but 10 life is converted into Plasma Shield and remains for the duration of Archon. His Basic Attacks deal 158 (+4% per level) damage, slow the target by 30% for 1 second and splash for 79 (+4% per level) damage to enemies within 2.5 range. Restorative health effects are applied to Plasma Shield instead. Cannot cast basic abilities. Lasts for 10 seconds. Remaining Plasma Shield is added to health upon expiration.
2
Hallucination
Energy: 50
Cooldown: 100 seconds

Tassadar casts a mirrored image of himself that follows him around the battlefield. The hallucination casts phantom Plasma Shields and non-damaging Psionic Storms. Tassadar's cooldowns and energy costs are reduced by half for the duration that the hallucination remains on the battlefield. Lasts for 20 seconds.

Plasma Shield

Plasma Shield will be re-worked to shield life based percentages rather than a flat, scaling number. The baseline damage leech will also be removed. The mana cost will be 75/500 in the new energy based system and shield duration and cooldown will remain the same at 4 and 8 seconds respectively. Energy cost is increased from approximately 10% of total pool to 15%.

This will reduce some of the enabling power out of the gate for low-life, dive, AA heroes like Tracer, but begin to enable some tankier heroes. Plasma Shield's power will become more talent dependent.

Psionic Storm

Psionic Storm will cost dramatically more, from 10% to 40% of total pool. Damage is significantly increased from 82 (increasing per wave) to a flat 250 (20% increased for non-heroes). The cooldown and duration will remain the same.

Psionic Storm is the most iconic area of effect skill in Blizzard's lore. Psionic Storm will now no longer feel like a tickle and instead like something that needs to be strategically played around, both on offense and defense. A well-timed, properly placed storm can single-handedly tip a team fight strongly in your team's favor, but if a team baits out a poor storm, Tassadar is left playing as a utility support at best. The high energy cost prohibits spamming Psionic Storms and will limit Tassadar to 2 per team fight in most instances. Psionic Storm will erase all but the tankiest of non-hero minions, which will be left very low on life, making him an ideal multi-laner, especially on smaller maps. Use of Psionic Storm will make Tassadar energy hungry - very much like high templar in Starcraft.

Force Wall

Force Wall will now be baseline instead of an ult. Dimensional Shift will be moved to a talent choice. Duration, cooldown, and energy cost will remain the same.

Tassadar has been basically unkillable for his stay in the Nexus. With Dimensional Shift being shifted to a talent choice, players will have to make the choice of survivability over other important talents. Force Wall being baseline should allow Tassadar some utility outside of Plasma Shield and Psionic Storm. Immediate availability adds some usefulness to Tassadar before his talents start ramping up his abilities.

Archon

Archon will closer resemble the lore of Archon. Tassadar will become a giant, area of effect, plasma shield, bruiser. Basic abilities can no longer be cast. Energy cost will become 50% of his maximum energy pool. The cooldown is reduced to 60 seconds and duration remains the same.

This change will increase Archon's survivability and enable Tassadar to really press forward into team fights. The trade off is his inability to use basic abilities, which brings it more into line with lore. Plasma Shield talents have the ability to make Archon even more of a threat.

This should the the obvious choice for an Archon build, but also potentially for dive enabling builds.

Hallucination

Hallucination makes its introduction as a powerful ultimate ability.

A hallucinated Tassadar on the battlefield may cause the enemy team to walk on eggshells with up to 5 Psionic Storms and 2 phantom Psionic Storms in a 20 second period or second guess their choice of targets with shield spam going down. This is a very powerful ultimate and the obvious choice for main healers or damage dealing Tassadar talent builds.
