Vol'jin

Chieftain of the Darkspear

Urged by his father at a young age to become a Shadow Hunter, Vol'jin is no stranger to conflict. Through his wisdom and powerful leadership he has kept the Darkspear Tribe - and perhaps the Horde itself - united through even the hardest of struggles. He rules with justice and compassion, but threaten the safety of his people, and you'll find yourself at the mercy of shadow magic and voodoo curses alike - and, perhaps, even the power of the Loa themselves.



As a powerful Shadow Hunter, Vol'jin calls upon the Loa to put curses on his enemies while healing his allies.

Voodoo Mastery
Vol'jin does not use Mana, instead casting his abilities using Mojo. 50% of the damage Vol'jin does is converted directly into Mojo, but it does not regenerate naturally and is not gained from Healing Fountains or Regeneration Globes.

Active: Vol'jin can activate this ability to immediately gain 15% of his maximum Mojo pool.

Vol'jin sends a wave of shadow magic at an ally that heals them for 200 (+4%). A wave is then sent from this ally to every nearby hero, healing them for the same amount or dealing 160 (+4%) damage to them if they're an enemy. Vol'jin gains 20 Mojo for every enemy hit by this attack, in addition to the Mojo he'd gain normally through damage.

Mojo: 100

Vol'jin turns an enemy hero into a harmless critter for 2 seconds. They are slowed by 30% and cannot attack or use spells.

Enchanted Glaive
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Mojo: 70

Vol'jin coats his glaives with a deadly poison, increasing his attack speed by 20% and basic attack damage by 20% for 4 seconds. Enemies hit with Vol'jin's basic attacks while this ability is active have their movement speed slowed by 15% for 2 seconds. Stacks with Hex.

Cooldown: 24 seconds

Vol'jin curses an enemy hero. For 4 seconds, that hero will take 50% of the damage they do to Vol'jin as damage. This damage does not build Mojo.

Curse of Extraction
Cooldown: 13 seconds

Vol'jin curses an enemy hero, making them take 210 (+4%) damage over 5 seconds. 100% of the damage they take during this duration is converted into Mojo. This mojo does not stack with Loa's Touch.

Vol'jin targets a friendly hero, making them Unkillable. Enemy units near this hero will be Silenced, while allied units near this hero will gain 20 Armor and 20 Spell Armor. The effect lasts 2 seconds. Can be cast on Vol'jin.

Cooldown: 65 seconds
Mojo: 130

Vol'jin curses an enemy hero, reducing their Armor and Spell Armor by 30 and Rooting them for 1.5 seconds. During this duration, 100% of the damage the hero takes will be converted into Mojo.

Level 1


Voodoo Priest


Healing Wave heals for 10% more, but deals 20% less damage.

Cold-Blooded


Increase the cooldown of Healing Wave and Hex by 2 seconds.
!Quest: Killing an enemy hero for the first time permanently reduces Enchanted Glaive's cooldown by 0.75 seconds.
!Reward: Killing every enemy hero causes all of Vol'jin's basic ability cooldowns to be reduced by 6 seconds after killing an enemy under the effect of Enchanted Glaive.


Sustaining Power


Vol'jin heals for 20% of the damage he does, but he is no longer affected by Healing Wave.

Level 4


Amulet of Transformation


While above 75% Mojo, Hex's cooldown refreshes 20% more quickly.

Bound by Shadow


Enemy heroes hit by Healing Wave have their Armor reduced by 10 for 2 seconds.

Hoodoo Charm


!Quest: collect Regeneration Globes.
!Reward: After collecting 15 Regeneration Globes, gain the Curse of Agony ability.

Lust for Blood


Hitting enemy heroes with basic attacks while Enchanted Glaive is active increases Vol'jin's movement speed by 15% for 2 seconds.

Level 7



Stolen Energy


For every enemy hero under the effect of Enchanted Glaive or Hex, Healing Wave's healing is increased by 10%.

I see ya, mon!


Voodoo Mastery no longer gives Mojo. Instead, it reveals all enemy heroes on the map for 4 seconds. Its cooldown is increased to 55 seconds.

Shadow Wave


For every enemy hero hit by Healing Wave, the next cast deals 5% more damage.

Level 13


Mojo Extraction


!Quest: Deal 30,000 total damage OR heal 30,000 total health.
!Reward: Gain the "Curse of Extraction" ability.

Hexxer's Wrath


Hex now has two charges, but it no longer slows.

Snake Essence


Enchanted Glaive's slow now lasts for 4 seconds.

Level 16



Shadowmancer


Healing Wave restores 20 Mojo for every allied hero hit.

Extended Transformation


Hex now lasts 3 seconds.

Combined Magic


Healing Wave deals an additional 3% of an enemy hero's maximum health as damage if they are affected by Hex or Enchanted Glaive.

Level 20


Protection of the Gods


Every nearby allied hero becomes Unkillable for the duration of Big Bad Voodoo, but Vol'jin is no longer affected by it.

Patron of Bwonsamdi


Killing someone under the effect of Loa's Touch resets its cooldown.

Amphibious Incantation


Hex now affects all enemy heroes in an area, but it no longer slows.

Da Spirits be Restless!


Healing Wave deals 20% more damage while Vol'jin is below 50% Mojo and heals 20% more while Vol'jin is above 50% Mojo.
