More Information

Hey guys, Everpyre here.

Chromie was recently announced as the next hero coming to Heroes of the Storm, of which I was overjoyed, as I had already made a concept about her (that didn't quite hit the mark!). I'm thrilled to have gnomes in the Nexus, and now I wanted to add another one.

I'm also a big fan of the warlock class, so I wanted to encapsulate the soul of the demonology warlock in Wilfred Fizzlebang, better known as the trifling gnome Jaraxxus beats to a pulp (note that I also want to make a Jaraxxus hero, 'cause why not).

Wilfred is a specialist hero that requires a high skillcap to play efficiently. You can think of him as a mix of Rexxar, Xul and Li-Ming, he's a mage that uses a pet and minions to deal heavy damage to his enemies. As a warlock, he's quite squishy and has no options to get him out of a sticky situation, other than mitigating his damage to his minions and position himself and his demon efficiently.

Playing Wilfred is all about minion management. You have a permanent minion on your [E] ability, Summon Demon, which summons one of four different demons. You choose which demon you want to summon in your level 1 talent. The Imp is your long-range burst damage demon, the Voidwalker is your damage mitigation minion, the Felhunter is the mana-restoring/anti-mage minion, and your succubus is your minion-seducing crowd control minion. You also start with an additional ability on the [1] slot called Command Demon, where you can issue commands to your demon similar to how Rexxar can with Misha.

You also summon demons with your [W] ability, Fiendish Portal. Fiendish Portal is a Fel Imp factory that you put down on the targeted location. Enemy heroes can close the portal by hitting it with basic attacks 4 times, but minions, mercenaries and structures cannot target the portal. The imps it spawns can be targeted, though, and function a lot like Zagara's Roachlings. When the portal is destroyed, ALL the imps it has spawned are sucked back into it. Consider putting this in a bush or in your base, where your enemies can't find it.

Finally, you have your Demonbolt. A pretty straightforward ability, you might think, but it requires a lot of skill to pull this off properly! It's a long-range skillshot similar to Chromie's Sand Blast, but it deals significantly less damage than that particular ability - at least, it does so baseline. For every active demon, including your summoned demon, your fel imps and your Doomguard, Demonbolt deals 5% more damage, stacking indefinitely. Can you maximise your damage by summoning a hoard of minions? Only a master summoner can truly pull off this feat!

Wilfred's heroic abilities are rather simple. The Fearsome Doomguard is your nuking demon that lasts 20 seconds and has a ridiculous amount of health. The Doomguard is best used so that it will remain alive in combat for its 20 second duration, and as it is a ranged demon that follows you around much like Nazeebo's Gargantuan, positioning is important.

Imp-losion brings a whole new level to demon management - or at least fel imp management. This is a rather weak version of Demonbolt when you have no fel imps, so you shouldn't use it if that is the case. However, its damage is increased by a whooping 25% for every fel imp you have - and there is no cap on that. If you're going with this heroic ability, you should pick as many talents as you can that increase the amount of fel imps you can summon for a really powerful burst attack!

Overall, Wilfred is a strong specialist hero, perhaps best suited for dealing with sieging and hero poking. He's not particularly strong in a teamfight on his own, but if you manage to position yourself properly, you'll basically be a ranged assassin able to deal a high amount of damage from afar - just try not to get caught by your enemies!

I hope you like this hero concept, check out my old Chromie concept and old Arthas redesign concept as well. Thanks for reading!
