[WIP v3.0] C'thun - God of Old

God of Old

Players will control the Eye of C'thun as their player-controlled unit. The Eye hovers above ground, and is controlled the same as other heroes.

C'thun is a ranged Specialist that can fire a powerful beam at a targeted location that damages enemies in an area. In addition, C'thun spawns Claw Tentacles to attack enemies and an Eye Stalk to watch over the battlefield.

Combat Trait

1
D - The Dark Below
The Eye of C'thun, Eye Stalks, and Claw Tentacles are an extension of C'thun's true form, and thus share the same Health.
In addition, the Eye of C'thun, Eye Stalks, and Claw Tentacles receive 10 armor for every Eye Stalk or Claw Tentacle currently active near the Eye of C'thun.
Stacks up to 30 armor.

This ability can be activated on an Eye Stalk or Claw Tentacle to retract it. Retracting does not cause any damage, and has unlimited range, but requires C'thun to channel for 1 sec before it can be retracted.

Passive / Activated
Armor Effect Radius: 10
Retract Range: Unlimited
No cooldown

[Notes]
Eye Stalks and Claw Tentacles can soak exp, but no matter how far the Eye of C'thun is from them, they will still share health and damage. It is best to keep an 'eye' on them if you plan on letting them soak a lane alone.

If a teammate picks up a health globe near an Eye Stalk or Claw Tentacle, the globe will be shared with it, however, health globes do not stack when the same one is shared with multiple Eye Stalks or Claw Tentacles.

Primary Abilities

1
Q - Claw Tentacle
Spawns a Claw Tentacle that shares your health at the target visible location. Max of 3 Claw Tentacles.
The Claw Tentacle has a slow, mid-range attack that prefers heroes over minions.

Claw Tentacles will also attempt to grab health globes within their range, but only if they have no enemies to attack.

Activated
6 Range
10 sec cooldown
2 Charges

[Notes]
Claw Tentacle's attack range would be around 6. For reference, Sgt. Hammer's Siege Mode range is 10.5, and Raynor's basic attack range via his trait is 6.2, while most ranged heroes are around 5.5.

The Claw Tentacles do not have a timed life, and you can leave them to soak a lane for all eternity if you wish, just don't be surprised if you start loosing chunks of health because a certain wiggly appendage gets jumped by the enemy team. You must make sure you retract a Claw Tentacle quickly, as the they take a moment to retract, and can be attacked while doing so.
2
W - Dark Glare
Fires a destructive beam at the targeted location for 5 sec, dealing damage every second in a small area. While channeling, you can move the beam with normal movement commands, however, the Eye of C'thun can not be controlled until the channel is finished or interrupted.

Channeled Ability
5 Range
15 sec cooldown
5 sec channel

[Notes]
While the range is only 5, you can move the beam out further while channeling.
The beam's movement speed is the same as normal movement speeds.

You could theoretically use the Eye Strain talent to move the beam from your base's spawn to anywhere on the map, but the spawn area would not be able to heal C'thun as part of the talent's negated healing effect.
3
E - Eye Stalk
Spawns an Eye Stalk that shares your health at the target visible location. Only 1 Eye Stalk can be active at a time. The Eye Stalk will grant vision of the surrounding area for 5 seconds.

Activating Eye Stalk again while it is active will cause the Eye Stalk to focus a beam on the targeted enemy hero within it's sight range, slowing them by 30%.

Activated Ability
6 Range
Sight Radius: 6
15 sec cooldown

[Notes]
The Eye Stalk acts similar to a controlled "watchtower", revealing the full surrounding area, including over walls and through bushes / vents.

If an enemy moves out of range, the slowing beam is interrupted.

Heroic Abilities

1
Call of C'thun
The Old God's true form arises from the depths at the target visible location.
All basic ability cooldowns are reset and have their charges refilled, however, C'thun is unable to move until the effect ends.
While in this form, you are unstoppable, and the range of your basic attacks, abilities, and the effect of your trait is increased by 100%.

Activated
8 Range
100 sec cooldown
Lasts 10 sec
1 sec cast

[Notes]
C'thun's true form is rather large, and can be used to block off an escape for the enemy team. However, teammates can also be blocked off as well. It's best to leave room for your team to get past you, or use the ability with this fact in mind. Also note that since you are now bigger, you are easier to hit, and you become an easier target since you are unable to move.

Using this ability takes just a moment to cast. While only taking a second, you should keep the delay in mind when using this ability to block enemies off.
2
March of the Silithid
Any time a minion group is spawned from your team's core, a Silithid Ravager is spawned with them and escorts them down their lane for 1 minute. The Ravager takes 30% less damage from non-heroic attacks.

Passive

[Notes]
The ravagers would be about the strength of the warrior minions, and have a timed life of only 1 min. In most maps, their timed life will let them go only halfway across a map's lane, but they are fairly powerful if left alone.

The main use of this heroic ability is to strengthen your team's defense, but the Ravagers can help push through frontline keeps that haven't been destroyed since hitting level 10. This can be a bit too powerful still, so I'm still looking at how else this ability can be tuned.

Special Mount

1
Whispers of the Old God
The Eye of C'thun can enter a shadowy pit and instantly travel to anywhere one of it's Claw Tentacles or Eye Stalks is currently active.

Activated
Unlimited Range
30 sec cooldown
2 sec cast

[Notes]
You won't get to use this ability when the match starts. You'll want to make sure to place your Eye Stalk somewhere safe to use it as a traveling point for this ability.

You can also use the Day of the Tentacle talent to choose any visible location as a travel point.

Current Talent Ideas

Level 1:

[Squint]
Increases your basic attack range by 20%, but reduces the damage dealt by 20%.

[Blurred Vision] - W
Your Dark Glare's effect radius is increased by 300%, but it's range is reduced by 30%.

[A Cause for Claws - Quest!] - Q
Passive: Reduces the cooldown of Claw Tentacle by 2 sec.

Quest: Kill enemy minions to increase Claw Tentacle damage.
- Every 10 minions or mercenaries killed shortly after being damaged by a Claw Tentacle increases it's damage by 1.

[Ninja Looter - Quest!]
Passive: You are able to pick up the enemy team's Regeneration Globes, which now appear purple to you. In addition, increases the effects of Regeneration Globes on you by 30%.

Quest: After ninja looting 10 enemy health globes, increase health regeneration by 20.

Quest: After ninja looting 20 enemy health globes, increase maximum health by 10%.

Level 4:

[Whiplash] - Q
Your Claw Tentacles gain a damaging melee knock-back ability with a 10 sec cooldown.

[Eye Stalker] - E
Your Eye Stalk is now always stealthed, even when attacking, but no longer gains armor from your trait.

[It's All Fun and Games] - E
Whenever your Eye Stalk is damaged, it splashes dark blood in an area around it, dealing damage over time and slowing enemies affected for a short period. This effect can occur only once per second.

[Tunnel Vision] - W
Your Dark Glare's damage is increased by 5% per second while it remains active.

Level 7:

[Crusher Tentacles] - Q
Replaces your Claw Tentacles with Crusher Tentacles that damage all enemies in a line as they slam down.

[Terrible Tentacles] - Q
Your Claw Tentacles' attacks deal bonus damage to enemy heroes equal to 2% of their health.

[My Brand!] - E
Increases the sight radius of your Eye Stalk by 20%, and the slow effect from it's Mind Flay by an additional 10%.

[Jeepers Creepers] - E
You gain an additional charge of Eye Stalk, and can now have two active at a time. In addition, Eye Stalks now last 2 seconds longer.

Level 10:

Choose Heroic Ability.

Level 13:

[Day of the Tentacle] - Q
Your Claw Tentacles now have global range, and can be spawned anywhere you have visibility on the field.

[You Will Betray Your Friends] - Q
When your Claw Tentacles emerge, they push units and players out of the way and create a wall of debris which blocks movement through the wall for 2 sec.

[You... Will... Die...] - W
Enemy heroes damaged by Dark Glare have their armor reduced by 15 for 2 seconds.

[Your Heart Will Explode] - W
Enemy heroes, minions or mercenaries killed shortly after being damaged by Dark Glare explode, splashing dark blood in a small area around them, dealing damage over time and slowing enemies affected for a short period.

Level 16:

[You Are Already Dead] - W
You are now unstoppable and can not be killed (but can still be damaged) while channeling Dark Glare.

[Eye Strain] - E
Dark Glare no longer has a channel duration, and you can toggle the ability off, but channeling it drains 3% of your life per second, and you can not be healed while channeling. This ability can not be used in the Hall of Storms.

[Your Courage Will Fail] - Trait
The armor you gain from each nearby Eye Stalk or Claw Tentacle is increased to 20, and the maximum armor gained from this effect is increased to 60, but your Eye Stalks and Claw Tentacles no longer benefit from the damage reduction.

Level 20:

[Leave A Message] - R
Requires: Call of C'thun
After Call of C'thun ends, three Corrupter Tentacles rise from it's shadow. Corrupter Tentacles last 5 sec, and will cast a damaging Mind Flay on nearby enemies.
Corrupter Tentacles spawn with health equal to 20% of C'thun's max life, but do not share their damage taken to the Eye of C'thun.

[March Madness] - R
Requires: March of the Silithid.
Qiraji Mindflayers are now also spawned alongside your Silithid Ravagers. The Mindflayers cast a damaging Mind Flay from a range, and will cast Mind Control on enemy minions. Each Mindflayer will cast mind control only once.
Mind controlled minions are returned to full health.

[Epic Loot]
Enemy Minions and heroes have a chance to drop loot when killed near the Eye of C'thun, Eye Stalks, or Claw Tentacles. Loot can be picked up by any hero on your team. There are several different pieces of loot that can drop, and loot picked up will last for 10 sec.
These effects do not stack, and only one can be active at a time.
Sword Loot: Increases damage dealt by 10%.
Shield Loot: Increases armor by 10%.
Boots Loot: Increases movement speed by 10%.

[Fury of the Storm]
Every 5 seconds, the next basic attack from the Eye of C'thun or Claw Tentacles will deal an additional 50 damage to the target, and 200 damage to all nearby Minions and Mercenaries.

Holy ****! An old god concept that DOESN'T involve a heroless, merged-with-the-core, not getting the point of MOBAs, and is not a bad idea at all?

That by itself gets you a 6.5/10. Well done on the creativity.

This hero is a very high skill-cap one. You have to be very careful where and when you place the tentacles, as they can get you killed. Eye Stalker talent (Your Eye Stalk will sink into the shadows and hide when enemies are near it, cloaking it from sight) might help a lot. Unlike Abathur, you can't just hide and spawn stuff.
I would just like you to add a regen. master at the tier 1 talents and this hero would be a little easier to balance out.

Okay, I think this is absolutely my favorite character concept I've seen on this site so far. The abilities are original, the traits are, for the most part, quite cool and cleverly named. "It's All Fun and Games" gave me a chuckle when I remembered the 'until somebody loses an eye' part that finishes the phrase.

I think taking full damage from the damage taken by tentacles and eyestalks is a bit too much though. In order to justify it, they'd need to deal more damage and have greater range than Gazlowe's turrets. If they don't and you ever fight in the same area as the tentacles, you are AoE bait. Regardless, excellent work thinking this character up. I'd totally support Blizz making this into an actual character and I think your C'thun would be extremely fun to play!

I legitimately made an account just so I could upvote this and say that I love it. I would LOVE to see this concept put into action, this was really well done.

Great concept, especially the talents (a lot of originality there!)
