Xaril

The Poisoned Mind

Xaril, the Poisoned Mind is a Mantid from World of Warcraft, and could be a cool addition to the game to represent the Mantid race.

Xaril excels at spreading poison around the battlefield, sharing his alchemical genius with as many of his foes as possible, then setting them all ablaze with a well-aimed explosive. Xaril's can put dish out large area-of-effect damage once he's properly set it up, and he has the tools to beat his foes in wars of attrition through his sustained poison damage and sustain.

NOTE: I'm not well-versed enough in HOTS to create numbers that would be fair and balanced, as I do not fully understand the math behind abilities in this game. This concept is mostly an outline of the abilities and how they'd function.

Combat Trait

Unstable Serum
Description: Xaril's Basic Attacks poison the target, dealing damage over a duration of 5 seconds. Every Basic Attack extends the durations by 5 seconds, to a maximum duration of 30 seconds. This poison splashes in an around around the target, applying the same poison to all enemies hit.

Additional Details:
Obviously similar to Lunara's passive, but with three major differences:

1. The poison damage would be slightly less than Lunara's, but the duration would be longer. Overall, I'd want the poison to less deadly than Lunara's but that's a tradeoff for how it interacts with Xaril's Firebloom Toxin, described below.

2. The poison splashes to nearby enemies. Only the poison effect splashes, not the damage from Xaril's Basic Attack.

3. The poison interacts with only one Basic Ability and one Heroic ability, and only Basic Attacks and the aforementioned Heroic apply the poison.

Primary Abilities

Firebloom Toxin
Description: Xaril throws a vial of an explosive elixir in a straight line that collides with and damages the first enemy unit hit.

If the enemy is afflicted by Unstable Serum, the poison erupts into flames, dealing all of its damage at once.

Additionally, when the poison ignites, it explodes in an area, dealing a percentage of its original damage dealt to all enemies within an area around the main target. The size of the area increases depending on how much poison was stacked onto the enemy.

Any nearby enemies who are also poisoned and who take damage from the explosion also explode.

Additional Details: This one is pretty dense, as it is Xaril's main damage dealing tool. Similarly to the One-Two Punch of Keg Smash and Breath of Fire, Xaril wants to soak his foes in flammable liquids then set it ablaze with this ability. This is Xaril's bread and butter, and properly setting up big explosions that chunk enemy health totals or clear minion waves will be what makes Xaril strong.

Briarthorn Toxin
Description: Xaril replaces his usual poisons with a more potent potion for his Basic Attacks, boosting the range as well as the splash area from Unstable Serum. Lasts for 5 seconds.

Additional Details:
Not much to say beyond that.

Cooldown: 10 seconds (starts at ability activation)

Kingsblood Toxin
Description: Xaril chugs from a cure-all cocktail, dealing poison damage to himself over three seconds. At the end of the three seconds, Xaril is healed for double the amount of health he lost from the poison.

Additional Details: A delayed heal that is a bit dangerous to use while under fire, but in exchange the ability can heal for a lot of health, allowing Xaril to sustain himself.

Cooldown: 15 seconds

Heroic Abilities

Fadeleaf Toxin
Description: Xaril smashes a vial of veiling brew onto the ground, rendering all friendly units within the an area invisible for six seconds. This stealth cannot be broken by damage for 1 second after the stealth starts.

Additional Details: Like a smaller version of Tyrande's Shadowstalk, this makes Xaril great at coordinated ganks or aiding in escapes. Synergizes with Kingsblood Toxin to ensure he gets the heal.

Bloodthistle Toxin
Description: Xaril opens a bottle of smokey spirits, creating a poison fog around himself where enemies cannot see him. Any enemy that enters the fog poisons the enemy with Unstable Serum, adding 1.2 seconds to the duration every 0.25 seconds. The fog lasts 6 seconds, and will erupt into flames if it is ignited by an explosion from Firebloom Toxin.

While he is in the fog, Xaril can reactivate the ability to dash in a target direction, dissipating the fog.

Additional Details:
This is a defensive ability meant to help Xaril keep pesky melee Heroes off of himself. When he activates the poison fog, the pursuer has to exit the fog or risk taking massive damage. Xaril can then dash in whichever direction the enemy didn't go, or position himself to attack them safely from afar.

Cooldown:
30 seconds

Possible Talents

* Amberweave: Activate to gain a temporary shield, similar to Hardened Shield.

* Spiked with Drakesblood: Talent for Kingsblood Toxin, increases movement speed while Xaril is poisoned.

* Pinch of Ichor: Talent for Kingsblood Toxin, increases the poison damage and subsequent heal.

* Citrus Flavoring: Talent for Kingsblood Toxin, allows Xaril to use this ability as a self-Cleanse.

* Quicker Brewing: Talent for Firebloom Toxin, reduces the cooldown.

* Rain of Blood: Talent for Firebloom Toxin, causes enemies that are damaged by the explosion to be stunned very briefly.
