Omnic Monk

From the Overwatch website:

"TRUE SELF IS WITHOUT FORM."
Zenyatta is an omnic monk who wanders the world in search of spiritual enlightenment. It is said that those who cross his path are never the same again. 
Years ago, following the Omnic Crisis, a group of outcast omnic robots experienced what they described as a spiritual awakening. They abandoned their preprogrammed lives to establish a communal monastery deep in the Himalayas. After many years of meditation on the nature of existence, they came to the belief that they were more than artificial intelligences and that, like humans, they possessed the essence of a soul.
Recognizing the spiritual equality they held with humans, the monks, led by the enigmatic robot known as Tekhartha Mondatta, sought to heal the wounds caused by the Omnic Crisis a generation earlier and bring humans and robots back into societal harmony. Their message was embraced by millions around the world, and they became global celebrities.
But one monk, Zenyatta, disagreed with this new direction. He believed that the way to repair the problems between humans and omnics was not through dogmatic teaching but through interpersonal connection and engagement.
Ultimately, Zenyatta followed his own path. He chose to leave the monastery and wander the world, helping those he meets to overcome their personal struggles and find inner peace. But, when necessary, he will fight to protect the innocent, be they omnic or human.

Combat Trait

Orb of Harmony (D)
Active. 5 second cooldown.

Attach an Orb of Harmony to a target allied hero (cannot be used on Zenyatta). The orb heals 1.5% of the hero's maximum health every second. The first time the affected hero falls below 30% health, the orb grants them a 5 second shield for 15% of their maximum health. Only one orb of harmony can be active at a time. The orb is lost of Zenyatta dies.

Primary Abilities

Orbs of Destruction (Q)
Costs 40 mana. 6 second cooldown.

After channeling for .75 seconds, fire a volley of 5 orbs at medium range that deal 50 damage (+4% per level) to the first enemies that they hit in a line.

Orb of Discord (W)
Costs 75 mana. 18 second cooldown.

Attach an Orb of Discord to a target enemy hero for 8 seconds. The orb reveals a small area around the hero, lowers their basic attack damage to 85%, and doubles the mana costs of all of their basic abilities. In addition, Zenyatta's basic attacks and his Orbs of Destruction deal 50% more damage to the target. The orb is destroyed if Zenyatta dies.

Transcend (E)
Costs 50 mana. 18 second cooldown.

For 2 seconds, gain 15% movement speed and the ability to pass through terrain.

Heroic Abilities

Enlightenment (R)
Costs 100 Mana. 80 second cooldown.

Create a small zone of invulnerability around Zenyatta for 4 seconds. Allied heroes are invulnerable if they stand in the area. While enlightenment is active, Zenyatta cannot move, attack, or use abilities.

Orb of Draining (R)
Costs 75 Mana. 60 second cooldown.

Activate to attach an Orb of Draining to the target enemy hero for 10 seconds. The orb drains 4% of the hero's maximum mana every second. The orb also drains 2% of the hero's maximum health as long as there is mana to be drained. The orb is destroyed if Zenyatta dies.

Hero Overview

I designed Zenyatta to fill a few unique roles not currently available among the supports in Heroes of the Storm!

I've included numbers in this concept overview, but I'm not a balance expert. I'm more interested in presenting the design of the hero! This is also my first concept, so I'd love to hear your thoughts! :)


Zenyatta's strengths

--> Provides very solid single-target healing over time.
--> Specializes in healing allies with high health pools like tanks.
--> Can still provide consistent healing for an ally in a distant lane.
--> Has very high damage for a support, similar to Tyrande.
--> Has decent wave-clear for a support.
--> Is a solid counter to assassins reliant on abilities like Kael'thas.
--> Can provide good vision during team fights.

Zenyatta's weaknesses

--> No real crowd control, unlike most supports.
--> No burst healing in team fights.
--> Can only heal one ally at a time.
--> Low health pool, easy to focus down, limited escape options.
--> Mana-hungry.
--> Limited self-healing.

Level 1 Talents

One with the Universe: Orb of Harmony also heals an additional 8 health per second (+4% per level).
Inner Peace: Orb of Harmony's shield is 100% stronger.
Disquiet: Orb of Discord's damage bonus for Zenyatta is increased from 50% to 65%
Endurance: Increases maximum mana by 50%

Level 4 Talents

Meditate: Active. 45 second cooldown. Channel to regenerate up to 25% of your maximum mana over 3 seconds.
Clarity: After transcend completes, instantly heal for 15% of your maximum health.
Zenyatta's Ward: Active. 60 second cooldown.
Place down a ward that heals allies in an area for 1.95% of their maximum health every second for 10 seconds.
Does not affect allies with Orb of Harmony.

Level 7 Talents

Body and Mind: Orb of Harmony also regenerates 1% of the hero's maximum mana every second.
Empowered Orbs: Orbs of Destruction now pierce all enemies in their paths.
Extra Orbs: Orbs of Destruction now launches a volley of 7 orbs.
Cleanse: Active. 30 second cooldown.
Activate to remove all stuns, roots, silences, and slows from the target and reduce the duration of their reapplication by 50% for 2 seconds.

Level 10 Heroic Abilities

Enlightenment: Costs 100 mana. 80 second cooldown.
Create a small zone of invulnerability around Zenyatta for 4 seconds. Allied heroes are invulnerable if they stand in the area.
While Enlightenment is active, Zenyatta cannot move, attack, or use abilities.
Orb of Draining: Costs 75 mana. 60 second cooldown.
Activate to attach an Orb of Draining to the target enemy hero for 10 seconds. The orb drains 4% of the hero's maximum mana every second.
The orb also drains 2% of the hero's maximum health as long as there is mana to be drained. The orb is destroyed if Zenyatta dies.

Level 13 Talents

Force of Will: Increase the ranges of Orb of Harmony, Orbs of Destruction, and Orb of Discord by 15%.
Giant Killer: Basic attacks against enemy heroes deal bonus damage equal to 1.5% of the hero's maximum health.
Ice Block: Active. 0.5 second cooldown.
Activate to place yourself in stasis and gain invulnerability for 3 seconds.

Level 16 Talents

Greater Influence: Orb of Harmony also heals nearby allied heroes for 1% of their maximum health every second.
Self Reflection: Orb of Harmony can now be used on Zenyatta. The healing and shielding is 60% more powerful when used on Zenyatta.
Show the Way: Orb of Discord also applies vulnerable, causing the target to take 25% more damage from all sources.
Does not stack with damage bonus for Zenyatta's abilities.
Greater Transcend: The duration of Transcend is increased to seconds.
Hardened Focus: While above 80% life, your basic ability cooldowns regenerate 50% faster.

Level 20 Talents

Shared Enlightenment:
(If Enlightenment was chosen)
Increases area of Enlightenment by 100%.
Orbs of Chaos:
(If Orb of Draining was chosen)
Orb of Draining gains 2 additional charges. Multiple orbs of draining do not stack.
Omnic Momentum: Orbs of Destruction mana cost is reduced to 25 mana, and the cooldown is removed.
Storm Shield: Active. 45 second cooldown.
Activate to give all nearby allied heroes a shield for 20% of their max health for 3 seconds.
Bolt of the Storm: Active. 70 second cooldown.
Activate to teleport to a nearby location.

Talent pictures are wrong, not sure if it was on purpose. The orb of draining might be too OP but dunno...

Other than that, Amazing concept! I would love to play as Zenyatta!

The pictures is an issue with this website. If you insert any, they either ruin the whole text section or load some random image like the one above. It's kind of weird ha.

I like the concept and what you did with some of your abilities! Had a few comments on somethings.
Might just be me but I believe your (8) seconds on your Orb of Discord is too long with the other stats that accompany it.
In regards to your Enlightenment ultimate, though it is his special in Overwatch, it cuts to close to Tyrael's Sanctification ultimate. Might be possible to play around with it to differentiate it a little more.
