Azmodan's tanky enought that--with tweaking and a couple of revised talents--he could be considered a warrior (or more of a bruiser). Everyone knows Rexxar is a jungler.

Misha is able to soak a lot of damage for her (his?) team and her (his???) Stun plus Rexxar's Slow helps lock down the enemy team in a fight. However I would say Rexxar is more of a Bruiser like Sonya than a Tank like Johanna, he fits in the Warrior role just fine. If the ability to solo Mercenary camps alone makes a Hero fall under the Specialist role, then Heroes like Illidan, Thrall, and Samuro would be Specialists instead of Assassins.

Azmodan could be a Warrior with a proper rework. He has the high Health pool and his demons can block some skillshots from enemy Heroes as well as soak up some damage. He would need a built in heal, damage reduction, or both in order to comfortably and smoothly make the role transition.

Everything you've said above is true, but honestly when i play Rexxar i find myself forced into jungling. Pre-rework of Azmodan he was able to become a warrior (block, imposing presence, gluttonus ward etc.). So that's what I think

You do not have to jungle as Rexxar just as you are not forced to jungle as Illidan or Thrall, but all of those Heroes are really great at it and it helps the team a lot.
