I have seen others talking about MMR Rank, I have just signed up to Hero Logs to check mine, Its a little out of date currently just shy of 2.5k. My question is what is it and how is it calculuated? is it wins and loses alone or does it take into consideration your contributions to the team? and is it really important?

MMR=Matchmaking Rating is a rough estimation of your skill, as you win more games you gain MMR and the system tries to match you with players of similar MMR/Skill.
As far as I know, it only takes into account your w/l, but don't quote me on this and as for it's importance, well it's a rough numerical representation of your skill at this game, so it's only as important as people think it is.
