Tips And Design Comments

Tips

The list below is a series of tips and tricks to help you master Daxton.
  • Daxton relies heavily on the amount of minerals he collects. Make sure you are soaking lanes as much as possible to collect as many minerlas from minions as you can.
  • Daxton's Barracks, Supply Depots, and Bunkers are actual structures and do not move until destroyed/salvaged or by one of Daxton's talent choices. This means you can strategically block access to tight choke points and fortify positions that would otherwise be left open.
  • If your team is under heavy team fight pressure, make sure to have a Bunker built by heavily contested areas to give them a means of
    protection should things go south.
  • Pushing lanes is one of Daxton's strongest capabilities. Be sure to build as many Barracks as you can afford as early as you can to get the maximum push towards the enemy's core.
  • Supply Depots can replenish your teammates health and mana just like the healing fountain. Make sure your teammates know where you built them and remind them to use it as often as they can.

Design Comments

I always wanted to bring a bit of the Star Craft RTS experience into Heroes of the Storm. Abathur is great and all, but doesn't fulfill that need to create units and macro your way to victory. With Daxton, you have the ability to spend minerals collected from minions to build structures that influence the game in unique ways. Daxton is not the easiest hero to play, and requires you to maximize your time. You need make sure you are constantly getting as many minerals as possible while also helping your team during objectives. Daxton is all about utility and spending resources toward the right buildings for job.

- Tips section has been changed to Tips and Design Comments.
- Design Comments have been added.
- Moved Primary abilities to Secondary Abilities.
- Daxton has been given new Primary Abilities.
- Notes: Daxton suffers from the ability to be useful outside of team fights and does not have good tools for wave clear. Since the most powerful abilities rely on the expenditure of minerals, this leaves Daxton without any interaction for the majority of the game. With his new abilities, he can help with CC during team fight with Crushing Grip, Deal Damage using Power Drill, and clear waves using Afterburners.

11/29/2017
- The Go Go Go! level 1 quest reward has been updated to allow manual control over units spawned from barracks. Selected units can be told to move and attack just like you hero can.

Love it! Just a note: structures are getting their ammo infinite. How about supply depots makes towers be repaired or maybe increased in damage?

Love the concept the one thing I've always wanted in these macro concepts is to manually controll/rally units so he's not splitpush and can take part in fights. If you could add this as a talent or as part of an ult this would be my favourite concept in a while.

The Go Go Go! Level 1 Quest Reward has been updated to include the manual control you are speaking of. Having the control over the units to follow you or attack specific target (potentially enemy heroes) makes the Barracks build much more threatening, increasing the instinctive to find the Barracks and destroy them. See the Go Go Go! talent description for details.

Thanks this makes the hero able to do more than just set up bunkers for teamfights and makes the barracks build viable for objectives or focused attacks.

So if I take all the barracks talents, and my math is correct, at level 20 you will spawn 50 units every 10 seconds on the battlefield. Eh?

Short answer yes. Daxton has little to no team fight presence and therefore relies on minions to do the damage for him. If you make it to level 20 and grab all the talents and the enemy team has not destroyed your Barracks several times over, then they will be in a world of hurt. Remember that if a enemy Hero destroys one of Daxton's Barracks, he has to gather more minerals to replace it.

Keep in mind, that Daxton's minions are much more squishy than the normal map minions. Take a look at this link: https://heroesofthestorm.gamepedia.com/Minion

The base health of a normal melee minion is 900 health. The base health of a Marine is 50. While the health of the minion does scale with Daxton's level, it still is quite less. So dealing with 50 weaker units every 10 seconds is not too bad to deal with if an enemy hero intervenes and has good weave clear.

Edit: After giving it some more thought, I realize that minions with that little health will be easily cleaned up by opposing minion waves. I am going to buff the health of the minions spawned from the Barracks, and increase the spawn rate to higher than 10 seconds.
