Imperius

Archangel of Valor

Imperius is the badass Archangel of Valor. His engagement mixups are phenomenal, and provides cc for the team alongside some damage.

In many ways I attempt to incentivize taking advantageous fights and being rewarded for successfully doing so. Please note Solarion is Imperius's awesome spear.

Weaknesses:

Thank you and enjoy.

Combat Trait

1
For Valor

Quest: Enemy heroes that die within 2 seconds of being damaged by Imperius grants Imperius 1 valor to a maximum of 25 valor. Whenever Imperius uses a basic ability, Imperius gains 1 armor and deals 2 (+4% per level) damage per second to nearby enemies for 3 seconds per armor. Imperius loses 1 valor upon dying.
Reward: After acquiring 25 valor, Imperius no longer loses valor upon dying. Stuns, slows, silences, and roots against Imperius are reduced by 50%.

Primary Abilities

1
Pierce

Imperius throw Solarion in a line piercing enemies dealing 50 (+4% per level) damage. Imperius can teleport to Solarion at any time through its duration. Solarion is returned to Imperius upon expiration or upon teleporting. Imperius cannot auto attack during this duration. Solarion collides with enemy structures but passed through terrain.

CD: 12 seconds

2
Heavenly Swipe

Imperius quickly swipes the ground in front of him, dealing 69 (+4% per level) damage.

CD: 4 seconds

Similar to Leoric's Q but swifter and smaller.
3
Vindication

Targeted Ability: Imperius quickly launches himself into the air and lands on the location of the targeted hero, dealing 180 (+4% per level) damage and stunning all nearby heroes for 0.75 seconds.

CD: 8 seconds

Notes: The radius to target Vindication should be small but the stun radius should be about the size of a smaller Chromie Dragon's breath.

Heroic Abilities

1
Heaven's Smite

Imperius quickly whirls Solarion in a full revolution dealing 230 (+4% per level) shoving and stunning nearby enemy heroes for 1.25 seconds.

CD: 80 seconds

Notes: Is a simple, flashy, yet effective ultimate. Its potential with Pierce is limitless both mechanically and in mind games. Values would be adjusted more appropriately with testing.
2
Heaven's Wrath

After 1.75 seconds, Imperius jabs forth Solarion dealing 720 (+4% per level) damage to the first enemy hero hit and 420 (+4% per level) to any additional enemies. If Heaven's Wrath is interrupted reset its cooldown to half.

CD: 100 seconds

Notes: A.K.A. FALCON PAUNCH. Intent is to do massive damage if successfully performed. The charge should be long but the jab itself should be fast and look amazing in its burning glory.

Level 1

Retribution: For Valor Deals 100% more damage to enemy heroes below 50% health, and 50% more damage to enemy nonheroes below 50% health.

Dance of the Angels: Imperius gains an additional valor per kill. However, upon death, Imperius loses an additional valor.

Pole Extension: Imperius's Auto attack range is increased by 20% and deals 10% more damage. Imperius attacks 10% slower.
Notes: Values would be adjusted accordingly

Valiancy: Quest: Each valor increases Health regeneration by 2 up to 15 valor.
Reward: After gaining 15 valor Gain 550 health.

Level 4

Tenacity: While 50% health or less, Imperius gains spell armor equal to half his valor rounded up.

Fortitude: Imperius gains physical armor equal to half his valor rounded up while above 50% health.

Defiant Attack: While 40% health or less, Imperius deals 50% additional attack damage.

Determination: If Imperius is damaged while 40% health or less, Imperius gains 10% movement speed for 2 seconds.

Level 7

Pierce the Heavens: Throw Solarion 25% farther.

Angelic Reprisal: If an enemy hero kills Imperius, that hero is marked. If that hero dies within 3 seconds of being damaged by Imperius, Imperius regains any lost valor for Imperius's last death.

Courage: Enemy heroes that auto attack Imperius within Imperius's auto attack range grant Imperius 10% additional auto attack damage and 10% of the damage dealt towards that hero for 3 seconds.

Level 13

Confident Thrust: Each enemy hero hit with Pierce reduces its cooldown by 2 seconds.

Vigilance: (Activatable Ability) Players that die leave a mark at their location. Teleport to target location where a player died. Mark disappears when that player respawns. Mark cannot be seen by enemy players.
CD: 20 seconds; Has radius

Plunge: Increase Vindication's range by 10%. If Vindication hits three or more people, the stun lasts .25 seconds longer and reduce its cooldown by 4 seconds.

Level 16

Silence!: Enemies damaged by Heavenly Swipe are silenced for 0.75 seconds

Dissonance: Enemies damaged by Heavenly Swipe are blinded for 1.25 seconds.

Equity: Enemies damaged by Heavenly Swipe lose any temporary armor applied to them. Effects that would give armor do not give armor for 2 seconds.

Punitive Swipe: Heavenly swipe does 150% more damage, its cooldown is increased by 4 seconds, and its mana cost is increased by 75%.

Level 20

Heaven's Wrath Upgrade: FING THROW THE SPEAR ACROSS THE MOTHERFING MAP. Reward for hitting enemy heroes: Satisfaction.

Heaven's Smite Upgrade: Heaven's smite radius is increased by 25% and stuns for .25 seconds longer. Cooldown reduced by 20 seconds.

Valor: (Activatable Trait) Activate For Valor to gain armor equivalent to half of your valor rounded up for 5 seconds. Each time you are damaged reduce this cooldown by 5 seconds.
CD: 65 seconds

Wings of Glory: Quest: Gather 25 Valor.
Reward: Whenever Imperius stuns an enemy hero, that hero is slowed by 20% for 2 seconds. Whenever Imperius is stunned or rooted, Imperius gains 20% movement speed for 2 seconds when no longer stunned.

Some Thoughts:

Imperius's design is created with the intention of incentivizing taking fights and engagement with his kit and I believe this is indicative in his talents and kit.

Kit:

The For Valor flames are intended to be cosmetic as much as they are kill secure. As the game progresses, the glorious flames of valor burn brigher from the foes he has slain. The 'Burning Rage' damage allows him to clear somewhat better with his Heavenly Swipe, deal some latent damage, and most importantly, activate his For Valor more easily.

I like the placement of the abilities, despite being 12, 4 and 8 cds respectively. Pierce correlates to many projectiles, is his main combo starter, and relates to Tyrael's El'druin. Heavenly Swipe is his swipe ability to proc for Valor and after Vindication or in lane; Vindication is his targeted hero ability that relates to abilities like Uther's stun.

The usage of Imperius's Pierce and Vindication can be mixed up in many diverse ways. One such combo is to Pierce, teleport, and use vindication. Vindication's radius should be relatively small, and as such, requires aim and right timings. Now add Heaven's Smite. At any time throughout the throw you can teleport and split the team towards you, away from you, or split for both. Can even be used to hit to the side and so forth.

Talents:

Lots of neat synergies, and some unique talents. Very happy with the majority of the talents. Some of which affect playstyle immensely. I want people playing Imperius to look, feel, and play badass. As such, I try to include talents that incur some risk or improve his mechanical charm.

Punitive Swipe is a sorta neat idea that changes the functionality of the swipe from procing For Valor to assisting the burst, but would not likely be implemented.
Autoattacks are intended to show off Imperius's prowess. I decided on a moderate attack speed of 1.1, slower than tyrael's that allow for heavier spear hits, yet still be fast. Switft yet firm and flexible to aa talents.
Pictures are placemarkers.
Some numbers would of course be changed with testing before implementation.

Final Notes: If you made it this far, thank you so much! I hope you enjoyed and please leave any suggestions in the comments!

Looks great! But I dont think he should lose his charges on his trait when he dies at all.
