Ragnaros (Rework)

The Firelord

Ragnaros has some underpowered talents and his Molten Core feels limited. This rework is meant to make new or change his less picked talents to be more viable and to change the usage of Molten Core.

Patch Notes (for abilities):

Molten Core
-No longer deals 25% bonus damage to minions and mercenaries.
-Cast range to activate Molten Core increased by 50%.
-Health increased from 3996 to 4156. (4%)
-Added functfunctionality:
* Ragnaros takes 25% more damage from monsters and veichles while in Molten Core.

Molten Swing
-Damage increased from 161 to 169. (5%)

Meteor Shower
-Slow amount increased from 25% to 30%.

Explosive Rune
-Damage increased from 285 to 308. (8%)
-Now only damages heroes.

Combat Trait

Molten Core
Cooldown: 120 seconds
Channel on an allied or destroyed Fort or Keep to replace it with Ragnaros's ultimate form, temporarily gaining new Abilities, having 4156 (+4% per level) Health that burns away over 18 seconds. Ragnaros returns to his normal form upon losing all Health in Molten Core.

25 Mana
Cooldown: 4 seconds
Ragnaros's next Basic Attack is instant, dealing 191 (+4% per level) Ability damage in an area, and heals for 20% of the damage dealt. Healing doubled versus Heroes.

Living Meteor
60 Mana
Cooldown: 12 seconds
Summon a meteor at the target point that deals 68 (+4% per level) damage, then rolls in that target direction dealing 272 (+4% per level) damage per second for 1.75 seconds.

Blast Wave
50 Mana
Cooldown: 9 seconds
Ignite Ragnaros or an ally, granting 25% Movement Speed for 1.5 seconds before exploding dealing 104 (+4% per level) damage to nearby enemies.

Secondary Abilities

Molten Swing
Cooldown: 6 seconds
Swing your hammer in a wide arc, dealing 169 (+4% per level) damage and stunning enemies for 1 second.

Meteor Shower
Cooldown: 2.5 seconds
Summon 3 meteors at the target point that fall in the target direction. Each meteor deals 151 (+4% per level) damage and slows enemies by 30% for 2 seconds.

Explosive Rune
Cooldown: 4 seconds
Create a rune that explodes after 1.5 seconds, dealing 308 (+4% per level) damage to enemy heroes in a circular area.

Heroic Abilities

Sulfuras Smash
75 Mana
Cooldown: 80 seconds
Hurl Sulfuras at the target area, landing after 0.75 seconds, dealing 198 (+4% per level) damage. Enemies in the center take 594 (+4% per level) damage instead and are Stunned for 0.5 seconds.

Lava Wave
80 Mana
Cooldown: 120 seconds
Release a wave of lava from Ragnaros's Core that travels down the targeted lane, dealing 240 (+4% per level) damage per second to non-Structure enemies in its path and instantly killing enemy Minions. Damage increased by 100% versus Heroes.

New Talents

Level 1:
-Sulfuras Hungers: Quest: Every time you kill a Minion with Empower Sulfuras, its damage is increased by 1, up to 30. Reward: After killing 30 Minions, increase its damage by an additional 90.
-Shifting Meteor: Each time an enemy is hit by the same Living Meteor, they take 3% increased damage from it. Quest: Hit 75 Heroes with Living Meteor. Reward: After hitting 75 Heroes with Living Meteor, its duration is increased to 2.25 seconds, and the Ability can be recast to change its direction once per cast.
-Engulfing Flame: Increase Blast Wave's movement speed bonus to 35% and its radius by 15%.

Level 4:
-Fire Ward: When Living Meteor hits an Enemy Hero, you gain a charge of Spell Block, reducing damage from the next enemy Ability against you by 50%. Can hold up to 2 charges.
-Slow Burn: Blast Wave deals 50% additional damage over 4 seconds and slows enemies hit by 30% for 2 seconds.
-Catching Fire: (Active) Quest: Gathering a Regeneration Globe increases Ragnaros' Health Regeneration by 1.25 per second, up to 22.5. Reward: After gathering 15 Regeneration Globes, activate Catching Fire to gain 25 Armor for 3 seconds, reducing damage taken by 25%.

Level 7:
-Hand of Ragnaros: If Empower Sulfuras hits at least 2 enemy Heroes, it restores 10 Mana and its cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds.
-Molten Power: Each enemy hero hit by Living Meteor increases the damage of your next Living Meteor by 20% and reduces its cooldown by 1.5 seconds, up to a maximum of 5 times.
-Blistering Attacks: Every 10 seconds, your next Basic Attack deals 50% additional damage. Hitting enemies with Basic Abilities reduces this cooldown by 1.5 seconds.

Level 10:
-Sulfuras Smash
-Lava Wave


Level 13:
-Cauterize Wounds: Empower Sulfuras heals for an additional 40% of damage dealt to Heroes over 2 seconds.
-Tempered Flame: When Blast Wave or Living Meteor damages an enemy Hero, you gain a Shield equal to 75% of the damage dealt for 6 seconds.
-Resilient Flame: Passive: When Ragnaros is Stunned, he gains 50 Armor for 3 seconds, reducing damage taken by 50%. This effect has 15 second cooldown.

Level 16:
-Giant Scorcher: Empower Sulfuras burns enemy Heroes for 9% of their maximum Health over 3 seconds. This additional damage does not heal you.
-Meteor Bomb: Living Meteor deals 25% less damage but explodes at the end of its path, dealing 220 damage (+4% per level) to all nearby enemies. Living Meteor gains an additional charge and costs 10 less mana.
-Blast Echo: After Blast Wave explodes, cast another Blast Wave on yourself. Can only occur once per cast. Hitting enemy heroes with Blast Wave reduces its cooldown by 1 seconds.

Level 20:
-Flames of Sulfuron: Increase the stun time of Sulfuras Smash by 1 second. Hitting enemy heroes with Empower Sulfuras reduces the cooldown of Sulfuras Smash by 2 seconds.
-Lava Surge: Reduce the cooldown of Lava Wave by 30 seconds and it gains an additional charge.
-Heroic Difficulty: Increase your Health and damage by 20% while in Molten Core, its cooldown is reduced by 40 seconds and its cast range is increased by 150%.
-Submerge: Cooldown: 90 seconds. Activate to place yourself in stasis and heal for 650 Health (+4% per level) over 3 seconds.

Note that these are only the changed talents:

Level 1:
-Engulfing Flame: Increase Blast Wave's damage by 75%, Increase Blast Wave's movement speed bonus to 35% and its radius by 15%.

Level 4:
-Slow Burn: Blast Wave deals 50% additional damage over 4 seconds and slows enemies hit by 30% for 2 seconds.

Level 7:

Why would explosive rune no longer damage non heroes? thats a gigantic, HUGE nerf that the supposed buffs dont outweigh. Basically negates the entire purpose of molten core outside of cheeky flanks which isnt the optimal use of MC in the first place and ruins him on braxis and infernal shrines

My goal was to make Ragnaros more "hero killing" rather than a giant defender. But I do agree with you.
