Hello :3. The same DarkPercy from Mobafire here ^^. I've been playing HotS for a good 4 months now and I've noticed a bit of errors here and there in the hero/ability/talents descriptions, might as well let me correct them :P. I am a Scout on mobafire :P. I also plan on making an Abathur guide :3
I have played HotS since Alpha and have been pretty active on the site and the forums. I've been running my own guide for about 1 year on the site now with consistent updates. I am also very active in communicating with other guide writers, exchanging formatting tips and opinions on improvement.
I've contributed opinions and pointed out small errors in the past regarding talents and talent icons. In this capacity I was mainly in communication with Veiled.
I have extensive editing experience IRL and relish a chance to make the site look polished.
I'd like to set up a page or pages to describe Unit Types (Minions, Mercenaries, Monsters, Summons, Heroic, Heroes), and a way to filter Abilities and Talents based on what unit types they impact. It's some pretty basic info, but there doesn't seem to be any resources that actually describe these. Also, the gamepedia wiki seems to disagree with my browser.
I'm a new user here, so may not meet any of the requirements in the OP. I certainly wouldn't complain if someone else goes ahead and sets up Unit Types in the wiki instead of promoting me to do it.
Hey there!
I would love to apply for a spot. First of all, I love this game. It withers my freaking heart to see that there's little to no activity around here. Even the weekly sales posts are devoid of any interaction between the community whatsoever. I would like to try a hand at this, make it look prettier, more interesting, try to urge people into commenting or just posting random thoughts about either sales, free rotations, or whatever is happening in the Heroes community.
I don't have a friend that can recommend me as an Editor since I don't really know anyone who does manage a community, but I've posted a couple stuff including a Moonfire Malfurion Guide and three hero concepts that I devoted hours into. I got more of those incoming, so y'all look forward to that :D The Concept Creation community is also incredibly silent. You don't often get more than 2 comments and the average is probably something like 1 vote and 1 comment, which is saddening to say the least.
I feel like the management community could think of more things, maybe instead of weekly guides, just feature one every couple days, show the world some lovely guides which are not even for absolute competitive use! I wouldn't mind seeing on the front page a nice, well formatted and entertaining Melee Uther build! ...It's not like we are overflooded with activity around here.
Maybe even feature hero concepts! Attract more people to the creative part of the community and hold contests! Winners get to be featured as CONCEPT OF THE MONTH! Sounds like an awesome way to encourage people to spend some time in making those concept and guides.
I would really, really love to be able to do more. Currently I am attending college, and my time is partly limited, but don't think that if I get the spot, I won't move most of my free time to this. I will, because I love to see communities strive and I seriously want to do something for the Heroes Community.
I hate to see "is heroes dead :/?" topics but people make them for a reason. Just compare Mobafire and Heroesfire.
In conclusion, I would like to apply for an editor spot. I think I can do something, if given the chance. I mentioned featuring a build or concept every couple days, for example. That should be an awesome way to engage in the community and make the front page more lively. Right now it's stale, it looks like a news report front page--just simple comments about what's new and that's it. Where are the weekly contests? The monthly features? All the stuff that can be done?!
Anyways, please consider. I can be reached by e-mail very easily.
... Or if I'm to be rejected, I hope this gives some ideas to the ones currently in charge of the front page posts.
Hawkray out!
