Artanis For threats, be aware of enemy heroes with massive CC capabilities. Other than that, you just have to know who you are playing against, and what build is best suited against their team composition/current map.

Artanis For threats, be aware of enemy heroes with massive CC capabilities, or just a short cooldown stun/root. Other than that, you just have to know who you are playing against, and what build is best suited against their team composition/current map.

Ability Order/Usage Top

fighting strategy.

Artanis functions as a off-tank bruiser. So while he can take damage, he can't take a lot, until later on in levels.

So your strategy basically revolves around this:

walk/ride into a fight. UNLESS you have friendly heroes right next to you DO NOT use your E to engage. Use it instead to stop heroes from running away.

Your W should be used whenever it is off cooldown. It stays activated, even if you don't immediately attack something.

Like your E, your Q should only be used as a way to deal damage to a hero you have already caught up to. DO NOT engage with Your Q. IT will give away your position. IF your goal isn't to gank a hero, but to take some of their health, then that is fine as harass/kill secure, but keep in mind that it has a high mana cost. So use sparingly.

So essentially: run/ride up> W> Q> and only E if they try to run. The rest of the time AA should be your damage.

Your Heroic should be used according to your situation. So use it to your best judgement. Proper usage will come with more experience.

Offensive AA Build Top

This build is very aggressive. This build is very much NOT recommended for small maps like the haunted mines, or maps that have objectives that frequently take you off a lane. If you are the Only tank/warrior on the team, again this build isn't for you. If the enemy team has two or more burst damage heroes, then this build is NOT for you. Example: Jaina, Kael'Thas, Nova, etc.....

Your 1st tier talent Seasoned Marksman allows you to start building for mid to late game damage.

The second tier talent Chrono Surge gets you the attack speed necessary to take advantage of Seasoned Marksman.

Solarite Reaper is what allows you to start clearing waves in order to build up your Seasoned Marksman Stacks. While you can pick Follow Through, if you do you lack any real wave clear for farming more stacks.

Your Heroic is very situational, and it depends on the enemy team composition. If there are two or more AA enemies then a blind for 4 seconds is useful. IF not then go with the beam.

Your W ability is an ability to be sure, but it is essentially a AA steroid. And counts as multiple AA in a very short period. Because of this Triple strike is nice, AGAIN this goes well with Seasoned Marksman.

This tier is when the build really starts to come together. It may seem odd to pick Zealot Charge; But in combination with Chrono Surge it allows you to swap places with opponents, and close the distance between you and take advantage of the attack speed buff from Chrono Surge. Yes, Titan killer is amazing in damage, but that is where the problem lies. When you use your E it switches places with you and your opponent, but the gap between you is still there. The charge allows you to close the gap and start using damage gathered from Seasoned Marksman, and not your abilities. IF your team has a lot of CC, and keeping up with your opponent isn't a problem, then Psionic Wounds is best.

The 20th level tier talents are difficult to understand, which one is the best to pick. Like your heroic it really is up to preference, so i will explain how each one is best used. The first one is the standard pick for damage: Nexus Blades. It buffs the Seasoned Marksman talent even further.

While damage is useful, it doesn't help much if you can't stay alive long enough to do damage. If survivability is your problem then Force of Will is definitely your best bet. This talent with Triple Strike lowers your passive to a two second cooldown. VERY POWERFUL. Your trait allows you a shield for a short time that has a twenty second cooldown. It's lowered by 4 seconds every time you Auto-Attack(AA). With Force of Will and Triple Strike, these talents together mean every time you use your W ability, it removes 18 seconds off your 20 second cooldown.(DISGUSTING) This makes you difficult to kill even for a 1v2 fight.

Defensive Build Top

This build is more for smaller maps where you can't build Seasoned Marksman stacks very well or reasonably fast. It is useful against burst, against objective based off-lane maps where roaming is needed, or a lot of mercenaries.

First tier is between Reactive Parry and Amatuer Opponent. If against heavy AA composition, pick Reactive Parry. Amatuer Opponent allows you to clear waves a little faster, but its main purpose is to assist in taking down mercs.

For the second tier, again up to preference. Pick Lethal Alacrity if you need a longer/faster kill secure or harass. Pick Templar's Zeal for the standard choice if more damage is needed.

Solarite Reaper again to assist with wave clear. This one is simply my choice. The other choice are just as viable.

Your Heroic is very situational, and it depends on the enemy team composition. If there are two or more AA enemies then a blind for 4 seconds is useful. IF not then go with the beam.

Phase bulwark if you are against a lot of ability damage. Triple Strike is the more preferred choice.

Titan Killer for heavy damage, especially if you picked up triple strike. Psionic Wounds if your team is able to take advantage of this damage buff. Shield Surge, while Viable isn't the best option, unless your team is very far behind.

And for the last tier, Force of Will hands down!
