As others have said this guide is a little out of date at this point. But the core idea is still there: Here is what I've been running with and have been doing fairly well (though I am fairly new still):
1) War Paint - Increases DPS for improved kill potential and minion clearing.
4) Shattered Ground - Increases damage against secondary targets from Seismec Slam. This lets you be more of a threat through minions or even to other Heros who stand in the way.
7) Poisoned Spear - Increase kill potential and gives you a shot at taking down fleeing Heros.
10) Leap - Good initiation and chase, also gives you a fleeing option. I haven't tried Wrath of the Berserker yet, however.
13) Life Funnel - Gives you some healing ability, won't win any fights against Heros but gives you a little more survivability and lets you recover on minions quickly. Spell Shield is a good option as well.
16) Furious Blow or Nerves of Steel - At this point you should have an idea of how you're doing. If you're getting beat back a lot go for Nerves of Steel and pop it as you engage. If you are doing strong up to this point go for Furious Blow to really bring the pain.
20) Ignore Pain - 5 v 5 Team fight? Fear nothing and go ham with this.
This build so far gives me strong engagement and good damage. Survivability is a little low in the begining so be careful not to over extend. If you can bait them out of position you can really bring the pain however. Around mid-game you should start having strong damage spikes. Don't over extend but the healing from WW should give you some sustainability. In the end game is where you find your sustainability and you should be engaging often and engaging hard.
Tip for new players: Seismac Slam is where most of your damage comes from. So don't be afraid to use it. Don't be stingy with your fury and if you feel like you can follow through with a kill without extending too far then burn every single point you have. You can build it easily by Spearing minions or just basic attacking them.
"All positive criticism is widely welcome!" haha well if it's criticism it can't really be positive can it now :D I think what you looked for is "constructive"
Sensible build but I would be very careful about picking Leap.
Hah, aye. Though one could say that constructive criticism is positive.
Anyway, it's gonna take a bit more work to get my approval of this guide... it needs an update since it can't be used now.
the talents changed a lot but i understand your build, its pretty cool. I use Sonya more like an assasin than a warrior ( i will explain).
My build is:
-Endless Fury (200 of fury)
-Superiority (not entirely sure)
-Composite Spear (now on level 7)
-Wrath of Berserker
-Mystical Spear
-No escape (not entirely sure)
-Anger management
Why this build?
Because of Wrath of berserker, mainly. When you use the heroic talent, u win 1 sec per 10 fury, so i improve the spear so u get a lot of fury in 1 shoot and recovery all power.
Superiority because u can gain all mercenary camps (i mean all, bosses with 1 healer or nobody if u have a little of critic) and u can destroy towers by yourself (without your team).
Composite spear is very useful, the spear is too short.
Mystical spear u gain a lot of fury u recover fury, recover wrath of berserker and use a lot of other abilities and use again the spear.
About "No escape" im not very sure, but its useful too for running all the map ( u have advantage in maps like: dragon shire, garden of terror ; maps that u ve to move)
Endless fury is for throwing abilities all the time, its change a lot
First of all I want to thank for this awesome build. I have been playing Sonya quite a lot, and I love this hero. Even with the nerfs of the last update, Sonya still an OP character, in overall.
I think you should update the build again due to there are 2 new ultimate skills: "Nexus blades" and "Hardened shield". In my opinion, the last one (Hardened Shield), It will be a perfect match to upgrade the survavility of his hero. Leap and then shield up, it will make you tank a lot more for the first 4 seconds. I have tried this and is working pretty good.
Regarding our choice of "Hardened shield" for the ulti, and depending of the situation, I would preffer to sacrifice "Spell shield" for "Composite Spear" at lvl 13. It will make a hugh difference, if you want to hunt down low HP heroes that are fleeing from the fights.
Once again, thank you very much and see you in Heroes of the Storm!
Hello Akjack, thanks for the feedback. The new abilities for level 20 where listed, just not displaying in the guide properly because I misspelled a line of the "code", thank you very much!
Regarding Composite Spear, due to the increased tankyness you may recieve with the new ability, it may sure become a suitable pick. If the game demands that extra chase, sure thing go for it :> See you around!

Well, guess I just translated it from my mother tongue ^^" corrected. Thanks!

I have been playing around with Sonya's build for the past few weeks. I think I have ended up back on this build. But the one thing that is different from my play style now and when i first started playing her is that i dont just jump into a fight. I rarely ever go up 1v1 against another hero, i stay back a bit and wait for my range dps team mates to soften them up a bit then i will leap in and start tossing SS's. I guess the only thing i dont take is the fury builder for the first skill, i take auto attacks return Hp. Like I said this is pretty much the build to play, unless they change it so WW doesnt get totally canceled by the littlest stun.
I agree 100% with the statement that she is a little under powered right now with the fact that she is considered a warrior. But even with all these set backs I still have a 60% win rate with her with over 90 games. I feel more comfortable playing her than any other hero.

Why is your opinion about this build?
This build did not work anymore.
The spell lvl7 has changed and there are no up for seesmic spell at this level.
