As an Assassin main, I love this guide. It's very well-detailed and I hope this will help me in future matches. :)

I usually pick Rancor as a first talent, whatever the build I decide to make. I feel that even though Multishot range is an asset while kiting and/or if you pick Executionner later on, it cannot compare with the pure damage of Rancor, easily gained. Valla is all about position, and you will always find a tank or healer that can stun/root/slow. After that, I don't have an absolute build, I rely upon opponent composition (Tier 5 pick, in particular).
Hence my question : is my T1 pick viable for a HL competitive build?

I'm not Equinox but I think I can answer your question...

Rancor used to be the pick of choice when Valla still had Battle Momentum even in Multi-Shot builds, but there's not a huge incentive to pick it in such a build any longer.

The viability really depends on the rest of your build. However, the reason Multi-Shot is appealing in the first place is so you don't have to get close to your opponent. There are scenarios where you can't safely AA often.

Personally I wouldn't pick Rancor in a Multi-Shot build, but perhaps if the enemy team has low pick potential you can adjust your build to a more AA-oriented one instead, making rancor viable.

I'm still fairly new but the Competitive Auto Build has been working well for me. Although I don't follow it completely, I almost always get different ending talents depending on the team situation. Like I don't get the heal talents because right now Morales is so popular and heals are usually not a problem.

Just tried one of your builds, namely the Q-build. It felt terrible. I was at the bottom of hero damage poll, even lower than damage-oriented malfurion. I only managed to shoot ahead when I picked vengeance @lvl 20.

What puzzles me is that this Q-build isn't unsimilar to competitive build. Woudn't focusing on W talents be better?

Punishment just isn't as good as the MS range or Siphoning, repeating > hot pursuit for dps purposes, and tempered is near impossible to keep up in competitive

S0 new to this site, just discovered it, new to HoTS only hero I have is valla, and I use this build which I find works very well. I had no issues in solo or if I group with friends, and usually get 40+ KB and only 1-3 deaths per game. Sometimes I have no deaths.

I wondering why no one like Punishment and what u think of this build.

@motions Q build is pretty good in pubs, siphoning and having extra 1v1 power is always better if you have no healer or they have something super divey to get on you. So yes, it's better when you have no healer or against something that wants to blow you up/dive on you

1 Question Equinox.

When going in a pre-made team or when you know you have a healer in your team, this build is very powerful.

However. When you are not in a pre-made team and your team has no heals, then you need to go back to base all the time to get back to full hp. Then I think it's better to take siphoning arrow over Composite Arrows. That's the pick I usually go with.

What are your thoughts on this?
