I am a guy who plays this game so do what i say or you playing the game wrong.
JK don't let me tell you how to play this hero the best way to play any hero is the way you feel is right to your playstyle these builds are more for the people who are new to illidan and don't know how to "build" illidan and to provide some suggestions for more experienced illidan players. hopefully this guide does what I aim for it to do and enjoy

Standard Illidan Build Top

This Build is built for sustain and teamfighting, I have used this build in most of my games as illidan and I have to say that it works really well it is balanced in both the sustain to the point where you don't need a healer (but a healer makes illidan much better in my opinion) and the damage you deal can destroy people if played wisely so here's some advice to playing this build.
EARLY GAME
*Use your W for clearing minion waves and escaping from unfavorable engagements
*Use your Q to gap close DO NOT use your W for gap closing as it is your only escape
*Use your E when fighting AA (Auto Attack) Heroes or fighting under towers as it'll mitigate damage and waste tower ammo
*At Level 4 you can solo siege camps and at level 7 you can solo bruiser camps. Jungling is a REALLY strong aspect of illidan and you should be getting camps after 4 and in between team fights
*Here's a big one and it affects all of us, Try to NOT get the Infamous illidan tunnel vision it will most likely be the end of you because as I've said this build is built around teamfights yes you can 1v1 most heroes in the game effectively but if they lead you to the rest of their team and/or under towers you pretty much dead which reminds me of another point
*pls do not try and fight a 1v5 if you see other illidan's doing this just let them learn the game at their own pace
LATE GAME
*Now you've got your ult you have to be cautious about using it because if you use it at the start of a teamfight you've probably killed yourself instead what you want to do if wait until either(but both is better) happen you're at 50% Hp or the enemy team is at 20-30% Hp or you can use it as an opener to a team fight i say this because illidan doesn't have burst damage he's more sustained damage and so you should play him to secure kills or deal damage over a team fight and not to play him to nuke down the enemy team
*You want to use First aid around the beginning of a team fight rather than at the end so you get the full effect and so nova or zera don't just kill you as you're running away with low Hp same goes with stone skin though you can use stoneskin to tank nova's triple tap
*when you open with metamorphosis pop both First aid and Stone skin at the same time so that you get more tankiness and so that the both get off cooldown at around the same time
*this does against what I've said early game but most of the early game advance comes into the late game as well so take both into account, you want to use BOTH your Q and W on a enemy who's running at low health after a team fight or a focus target in the during the team fight this will make you be dealing effective damage that will help your team out as well as doing your role as a Bruiser

The Hunt Top

this build sacrifices DPS for sustain overall as you don't have Metamorphosis to build up your tankiness, I already covered most of the tips and advice i have for illidan in the standard build section but i do have tips for
THE HUNT
*Use it when you see
-a low health hero in the radius
-to engage on focus target during a team fight
-to stop the enemies ults most notably Li Li's Jugs of 10 000 cups and Valla's strafe
-as a way to completely escape from chasers after a team fight
*Because of the low cooldown and large radius of the ult you have a presence in teamfights where you would be absent if you had the other ult (this doubles with the level 20 talent) as such you can have a more Jungle focus for the game
*you can also use it to chase people more effectively but I would only recommend it if it's an important kill like there healer or the only tank etc.(Not the hero :P)

END Top

Thank you for reading this guide and I hope it helps out with your future games and please if you have feedback it would be nice as I am new to creating guides and that's why there isn't any links of pictures in this guide yet, and yes I will be updating this guide as much as possible.

So Good Luck and Have Fun with Your Future Games :D
