Introduction! Top

Hey my name is Dango (no I didnt watch the anime - I just play video games 24/7) and I am playing HotS ever since the Alpha.

I'm really obsessed with Gazlowe (he quickly became the first hero I played to lvl 10).
I really enjoy playing with his skillset and role. Therefore I am making this guide, to help fellow Gazlower's out!

But be aware this is in fact my first guide and it may not be as funky as some other guides here since I suck at formatting. :/

When to Pick Gazlowe in Ranked! Top

Gazlowe fulfills alot of roles in HotS - he can be played as an Assassin sort of Teamfighter, as a split-pushing beast or even as a tanky initiator kind of hero.

If you take a look at my "Tanky Initiator"-build you can clearly see that this build only works withhin a coordinated team, the plan here is to pick gazlowe as some sort of off-tank and initiate using Sprint + Grav-O-Bomb 3000 - in the best case scenario you can stun 2-5 enemies and deal alot of damage while you are very tanky with first aid and stoneskin, get some turrets up and let your team do the rest.

This is a very obscure build and very different to what people expect from Gazlowe - this shows his versatility and is just one of the many reasons on why to pick Gazlowe.

Basic Overview of all Abilities Top

Basic Abilities

This is Gazlowe's Bread and Butter - put turrets up for map vision, or just zone your enemies into oblivion.
They are used for salvaging and pushing towers, forts and everything above. (a turret soaks up 4 tower shots, so you can technically destroy alot of ammo with them while the turret and you both deal damage to the tower.

This ability can be used to assassinate poor sqiushies who are too greedy to go BTB or just got hurt and you catch them off-guard. This is basically Gazlowe's only ganking ability.

The only real CC ability without any talents that Gazlowe has besides Grav-O-Bomb 3000 - Extra TNT makes Gazlowe clear minion waves with 2 Xplodium Charges at lvl 1. Together with Salvager you can push lanes very fast by having Xplodium Charges on a minimum of 6 seconds cooldown! But watch your mana - it can run very low very quickly.

Heroic Abilities

The reason Gazlowe even wants to be in teamfights, this ability is a serios game-changer.
Getting 1-5 people into a stunlock combo at lvl 20 can be fun if you mix a little Jaina or Nazeebo in there :)

A situational pick I only take when my team decides to pick a ******ed comp or the enemy team has 1-2 heroes i can never hit with Grav-O-Bomb 3000.

Or... you know sometimes i just wanna hear that chainsaw.

How to do the Combo! Top

So many people I see on the ladder dont seem to really know how to time the combo properly.

In case you wonder the Combo is Xplodium Charge + Grav-O-Bomb 3000

To properly time it tho you need to throw the Xplodium Charge first and after what feels like 0.75-1 second you can use Grav-O-Bomb 3000 directly on top of Xplodium Charge. If you have trouble hitting it go into trymode and practice it a couple of times, its not that hard!

Why Robo-Goblin??? Top

Why Robo-Goblin over Grav-O-Bomb 3000 ???
TL;DR: If your team has bad synergy with your ult dont pick Grav-O-Bomb 3000 - if they need it pick it.

Im gonna be honest with you I get this question pretty often.

I thought about this alot and I think that both heroic abilities are viable, however you can't always(!) pick Robo-Goblin. If you get encouraged by the chainsaw sound every time you skill it as much as me then here are some thoughts why you shouldnt and why you should pick Robo-Goblin

Pros

+INSANE SIEGE DPS im talking 500 damage auto-attacks instead of 150. kinda.
+very easy to solo camps (cant boss tho on lvl 10)
+insane melee dps on lvl 20 with Mecha-Lord
+can solo Keeps and Forts without a minion wave at lvl 16

Cons

-No wombo-combo ult
-harder to hit your stun in teamfights (need setup)
-until lvl 20 doesnt make you stronger against heroes
-not good on maps where you need to teamfight alot
-not good with comps that want to teamfight alot

When to Salvage and when not? Top

Salvager

This ability right here is what makes Gazlowe a real bastard on the lane and how fast he pushes.

You can use this ability to destroy your turrets instantly to spawn a scrap - which you can pick up for mana regeneration and let your abilities cool down twice as fast. Sounds good right?

Well sometimes its not - alot of the time you have to move while you just placed 4 turrets - thats fine, just salvage them all and collect the scraps and youre good to go!

On the otherhand you sometimes have to make a choice wheter you want more damage in a fight or CC with Xplodium Charge

When the latter occurs you have to salvage your turrets in fight to reduce the cooldown of Xplodium Charge by a ton.

Salvage also reduces the cooldown of your Grav-O-Bomb 3000 by alot depending on how many scraps you pick up.

Now keep in mind those scraps stack (even tho its not shown in the UI) so the more you pick up the longer the "buff" stays.

End Top

If you have made it this far, thanks.

Since this is my first guide on anything ever I hope some knowledge has been acquired and things make sense now.
