Are you planning on updating your guide or are things basically the same?

I have been planing a very big update for a long time, but I just don't have the free time right now to do it. Should be done in the future though.

Man i read all. This new patch changed my favourite hero. He is so much bulkier and with Your guide he is a killing machine as well.

Hy Santy.
I've seen you read my guide. I was just prepared to see new opinions on Artanis after the patch, and I found your guide, but stopped to answer to a comment to my guide, only to see that it is the same person that left the comment and write this :D.

Indeed after I made my hybrid guide, I too experimented with a variant of your build: Chrono Surge and Follow Through are very good together, but also requires you to change your playing style accordingly (ability, attack, ability, attack, etc).

I agree with almost all you said in the guide, except the tier 1 talent choice. I may be in minority when I say this, but I find seasoned marksmen only viable on certain maps. And I think reactive parry and now the new amateur opponent are better.

1. Reactive Parry is good late game too. It reduces basic attacks against you (2 charges) and will be buffed to 75% reduction in the new big patch that Blizzard released on PTR for now and live on 29 March. What this means is that when you stick with Twin Blades on an enemy Hero, he tends to attack you back. 2 charges of Reactive Parry means you take only 50% basic attack damage from the first to attacks. This talent saved my *** many times (and it was only 50% reduction per charge), and is extremely useful against the sorts of Valla, Raynor, or other ranged assassins, as well on melee heroes.

2. Amateur Opponent is now a viable choice. I tested it on Battle of Eternity, and it really shines, dealing 600+ damage per strike to the Immortals and all merc made a difference.

Ultimately it goes down to your playstyle. I played a lot with seasoned marksmen, and I had games that I wished I took the Parry instead. On maps in which the objective requires you to stay in lane more (Spider Queen and such) it is very very good. But on Battle of Eternity it is very weak, at lest for me, because I have games that I rarely stay in lane after the 5th minute mark.

As for the tier 13 pick, I already answered as a reply to your comment in my guide. I really think it can be good, but it depends on the enemy team. I think that triple strike is still very good, even with the nerf, in most builds. But I will try your theory and see for myself.

Nice work ;).

Thanks for commenting :)
Yeah its true that some maps are hard to accumulate stacks for seasoned marksman. I prefer Amateur opponent on Blackheart's bay and Battlefield of Eternity as well.
I admit I miss how you could melt down squisies with triple strike, so against multiple low health heroes, its as good as before and I still pick it.

Just as I said its not that much about the build, as it is to know your hero and pick talents accordingly to the situation. :)
Again thanks for the comment and I am glad you liked the guide.

Hi Santy, I'm and Artanis supporter, he was the first hero I bought (yup, had to wait to save 10k to get my first hero) and I really liked him, not only his ethos and character develop (SC2) but also his duelist hero set up in HotS. I'm confortable with him..

What I've discovered after leveling up is that he is weak compared to other heroes, he is solid, but not brilliant and eventhough his late game is mean, til 13' you should be very careful..

What I try to do, until last patch at least was to decide the build based mostly on my opponents ensemble, and how the game developed.

I've tried your build on several QM and I don't feel very comfortable with it..

I used to go full DPS until patch (seasoned marksman, lethal alacrity, solarite reaper, purifier beam, triple strike, zealot charge and nexus blades) and this patch just didn't improve artanis as a duelist hero, he just gor better options for tanking.

And I feel that your build as he is not specializing in dmg, or shields, makes him a jack of all trades, but master of none, he is neither a DPS assasin, neither a bulwark shield tank, and I think that in order to be useful he needs to specialize..

This is just my opinion, but since you took a lot of time in developing and explaining your build, I felt I had to explain my point of view.

Thank you for the time you took to write all this. Its nice to hear an outside opinion :)

I agree completely with all you said. Especially the part that he is very cool and solid, yet somewhat lacking at times. Builds for me are more like a guideline, to help you understand a hero and start learning how to play it. All situations are different and all players are different. Talents have to be considered depending on the match. Once you get better with any hero you tend to know what talents to take and when to change your "go-to" build.
And I feel that your build as he is not specializing in dmg, or shields, makes him a jack of all trades, but master of none,
This was the point of the build. It relies on having balanced team comp, most importantly a good healer. I use it usually with Artanis as only warrior and aggressive assassins. That is what most compositions usually are in ranked.

I tend to play ranked not Quick match, unless I am experimenting or trying a new hero. The compositions in QM and the coordination of the teams is lacking in balance, so I would not recommend this build in QM most of the games. You might be better off, doing a full tank or full DPS build there. I feel DPS is better most of the time.

I men't to add all that to the description, but didn't have the time. I will do so in the future.

Again thanks for the great comment. :)
