What this build is for. Top

This is a general all map build that has a balance of offense and defense options. Your bread and butter is frostbolt obviously. Unless you have specific foes to counter ( Illidan, Zeratul) or a just melee heavy enemy team in general, this will be your best bet for a build.

Laning Top

Since there are no items or gold to consider one of the only advantages you can gain in Heros of the Storm are experience levels. As the queen of aoe damage, you have one of the best potentials for soaking up creep xp quickly. This allows you to wipe out a wave of minions while you roam up and down lanes completing goals or catching up to your team. Be sure to take opportunities to wipe the creep wave and gain experience for your team.

Team Fighting Top

How you approach a team fight can either leave your team wondering where the deeps are, or cause the rapid obliteration of the enemy team.

Points to consider:

If you find yourself standing right next to your melee heros during a team fight, you are probably too close. Expect to die. This is why we have a long range frostbolt and a water elemental

Your best damage comes when the enemy team pounces on your team and you come in from the back lines and nuke the group. Do not be eager to begin the engagements.

Map goals like tribute mean teams will gather in the bushes generally on the side from which they came. You know it and so do they. Use this to your advantage by coming from a different angle within retreat distance of your team and you will surprise and confuse the enemy team.

Solo Fighting. Top

You die quickly, but funny enough when you're around enemies tend to die quickly also.

Jaina is mostly in danger against sticky enemies with gap closers.

If you can catch a chilled enemy with frostbolt and begin chain casting it is your fight to lose.

Strategic retreat can set up a devastating counter strike.

If you can keep range you usually have an easy job when it comes to fighting lone enemies. When an enemy chases you, their position is much easier to predict (generally right behind you). Even at low health you can turn hunter to hunted with the help of ice barrier and constant frostbolt pokes.

General Advice Top

Water elemental often will finish off low life enemies even after you die. Be sure you set it to chase their most dangerous softie.

Don't forget that even if you are out of range to frostbolt, the water elemental copies your skills. Be sure to use that to your advantage specifically with cone of cold and frostbolt.

If mana is an issue you may consider Arcane Intellect over frost shards. However, by timing trips to base and the fountain between team fights you can assure you always have enough mana.

In situations where you don't have enough mana or icy veins for a full nuke combo, you serve your team best rationing mana and only trying to slow enemies for your team to kill.

Sometimes using icy veins and your water elemental to quickly finish a boss is better than taking longer to kill the boss and saving your skills for an inevitable enemy attack. That kind of fight will always have you at a disadvantage. It's better to be gone before they have a chance to intercept the boss.
